Does anyone know if this book will EVER come out?
It was repeatedly delayed back when the DVDs were coming out from BCI but now..nothing!

I never heard of this project. Sounds fascinating. I really love that cover. I think it would be cool if they did a documentary on Filmation for a DVD release.

I hope this book finally comes out and just in time for Comic Con. Hopefully Scheimer will be there for a signing or panel.

I just happened to stumble upon a Filmation page on Facebook and found this comment from Andy, posted in May...

"The Filmation Generation book is not coming out July 21. The hope is that it will be out some time this Fall. There have been numerous delays, due mostly to all the companies who control rights to the art for use in the book."

Sounds like a legal rights nightmare...

I've been waiting for this book for what seems like forever.

I also heard about this out-of-print Filmation book...

...and scored one on Ebay to tide me over until Andy Mangel's book is released. Luckily it was for far cheaper than the 100's of dollars it goes for on Amazon.

It's an ENJOYABLE book - It was written by Michael Swanigan and Darrell McNeil; both of whom worked at Filmation on He-Man and She-Ra!

The ONLY downside with the book is that there are quite a few errors - Episode titles, voice actor credits, character names, are sometimes completely out of whack...

That said, it's a GREAT collectible!

Love the cover! It took me a bit to find Lookie! haha.. I just thought.. "I wonder if Lookie's hiding somewhere" He's not hiding that hard though..

I hope this does come out.. I'd buy it -and- read it.. and I do most my reading on the interwebs these days.

Im surprised you didn't have any legal troubles with your upcoming MOTU episode guide book. I plan to get the Filmation book as I love reading period.

Yeah, I've always been curious about this too. Not that I'm complaining. Just wondering how you avoid the legal issues?

With regards to my book, I can't really talk in-depth about the legal issues - However, I can say that if I were ever taken to a court of law, I'd be deemed VERY safe from prosecution!

Yes, the Scheimer/Filmation book has been repeatedly delayed, but most of the hurdles have been cleared, so it should be coming out at Comic-Con 2011.

Let's just say that a lot of the companies who own the Filmation toons now are a bit greedy, and don't care about Lou's contributions, his legacy, or Filmation's history. If it's not making them money NOW, they have no use for being helpful.

Thankfully, we were able to convince enough of them of the importance of this project.
