I think Warner Brothers may be claiming the Darius name from them acquiring Mortal Kombat from Midway.

That would be Darrius, with 2 rs. Technically it would not be the same TM.

It's kind of funny this comes after the "we want more Great Rebellion females" thing.

I'm not positive the above name is for MOTUC, but there's a Zorko from the second season series bible. Was recently filed.

Also, not sure about these two: Z-Lak and Emperor Zondor? May not be for MOTUC.

I guess it's possible though, since whatever name the new character has will be something that only the winner would recognize, and even then Mattel could have changed it from the original submission. Emperor Zondor probably isn't being used for Hot Wheels or Barbie though, so it is rather mysterious.

Yeah I'm a bit lost on who it could be... I'm sure I'm wrong but maybe it's the name of the Unknown One? Or it could be a cosmic Enforcer or some background character for narrative purposes? I guess the next step would be to ask around to fans if they submitted a character named that? I don't think Mattel and by extension, Toyguru, would be dumb enough to blow it like that though.

As i remember, toyguru said Mattel is free to rename or change the character bio so... It could be the CAC winner

That is definitely what he said, so it is certainly possible, but it would surprise me because they seem to be very keen on keeping everything a secret until SDCC, and they know how closely we scrutinize their trademarks. Maybe they felt that this wouldn't give anything away since the names are generic enough to be almost anything, not to mention the fact that we aren't even sure if these are names for MOTUC.

Eventually they will have to file it unless they want a potential problem where someone steals the name somehow- as unlikely as that may be.

Edit: Do you mean that Mattel won't care about trademarking it because they never plan to use the character in the future? That's my best guess.

2nd Edit: Or maybe the name is too generic to trademark? I wonder!
