He-Man Bow Blaster and He-Man Electronic Super Powersword unreleased toys

    Hi everybody!

So here is my story. I've been recollecting MOTU toys since 20 years now, and been collecting POP and NA (I should say He-Man) toys for 15 years.
I've been following all the great sites such as He-Man.org since 1998, and Masters Unbound since 2000. So I've been online for a long time! (just watch my joining year -> 2001)

So I thought I knew everything about the toys released and those unreleased but yesterday I discovered 2 items never featured on internet!

I bought a Mattel Catalog from 1991, hoping for pictures of Mara, Gleanons, Galactimytes and Blo-Zooker. Unfortunatly, they were not shown in that catalog . But I found those 2 never mentioned and never produced toys!

He-Man Electronic Super Powersword and He-Man Bow Blaster! Those 2 toys are role play accessories like the Electronic Power Sword released in 1989.

Who here ever heard and/or saw those items?

I took 2 pictures yesterday with my mobile phone, but they are not so great. I will try to scan the pages soon!

    Best regards

    Edit :

Here is the Electronic Super Power Sword :

And here is Bow Blaster :

I'm not sure about the Super Powersword anymore, but I was aware about the Bow Blaster.

What Country of Origin for the catalog? I can't wait! First I'm hearing of the Bow Blaster! I don't lurk on Planeteternia.de often enough! What's the description on that thing in the catalog say? I wonder which character it was intended for? The color makes me think Military. Reminds me of whoever this was? (Kayo-At-Arms?)

I like the "space marine vs evil aliens" vibe that suggests Kenner did launch that amazing Aliens line in 92, around the time this would have most likely came out. Might be a connection? Transformer/Go-Bat type of thing perhaps?

I would humbly request any catalog owners contribute to the archive on orangeslime.com, It's such a wonderful resource for toy collectors and enthusiasts. AMAZING scans of so many 80's dealer catalogs. Totally needs some more early 90's ones!

'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments" (Matthew 22:36-40).

Whoaw! I didn't know you already featured it on Planeternia.de! Yes that's the bow blaster! Since when is this picture available?

Edit : OK I found the page : http://www.planeteternia.de/cgi-bin/...D=1;newID=1130 . It is featured since october 2010!

And for the translation of the text (according google) :

Instead, Mattel announced two children weapons in the form of the Bow-Blaster and the blow-Zooka. The former was able to form a crossbow to shoot foam balls, while you should use the latter as an oversized blowpipe. These two toys did not appear, however, may have been recycled over time in the course of another Mattel series. This hope does not exist for the Super Power Sword unfortunately, which in addition to sound and light effects had a retractable blade and He-Man's sword saw something similar than the normal children sword.

LOL, I didn't even recall that I actually wrote something about the Super Power Sword in that article!
As for the Bow Blaster picture, I had that saved on my hard drive for, like, ages. I guess it was posted somewhere in the early 2000's.

    You are welcome!

I hope this thread may call for some potential others reveals! (let's hope)

For the bow blaster I was thinking with a friend that, if they would have revealed it in 1985 or 1986 similar to the horde action figures bow, this would have been great!

Looking at the head of this figure and the outfit, it looks more to a prototype for captain power.

The military outfit is like the one of LT. TANK ELLIS :

And the microphone near is mouth and the helmet looks like captain power one :

Very cool stuff. Neat to see these weapons. Though I do think the Super Powersword is kind of hideous. LOL. As successful as the first one was, though, I can see why they'd revisit the idea.

Cool! Love seeing unreleased stuff. But wow man....that is one crazy looking sword. What the heck is with the giant chunk of a handle? It looks like they tried to get it to look more like the toy sword, but then...failed? Perhaps a normal handle would have helped. Instead of a chunk.

Thanks Musclor for the uploads! Perhaps you could transcribe what the catalog says in the areas of the scans that are hard to read? It looks like a secret crystal inside the handle? If so, perhaps that idea was recycled in 200X for Snake Armor He-Man's Snake Buster Sword!

Good call regarding the other things you have said!

I suspect the designers working on NA also worked on Captain Power. I'd love it if Man-At-Arms & Queen Marlena helped fight in The Metal Wars! Though I'm unsure who "owns" captain power, Mattel or Landmark/Garry Goddard?

I really like your idea for the Crossbow! I didn't like the Horde ones at all. They where safety lame because they didn't shoot anything
A kid sized Horde Cross bow would have made me like the weapon(s) more!
