I know the Horsemen will do a fantastic job with her, I just hope they get around to her as I really want her to be part of my collection!

I like the look of the feathers on the custom 200x Peekablue posted by Princess Adora because they look more like a peacock feather and as a kid that is always what I thought they were suppose to be.

I can't wait to see what the 4H do, I've loved all the POP characters so far.
I think the toy more resembles a real peacock's feathers. The gold is kind of like the white "stems" so to speak, which all the feathers are on. In some pictures, it kind of looks like fireworks. To me, Filmation and that custom (while cool) are both pretty plain to be peacock feathers.

Oh...before I forget, I was listening to the Roast Gooble Dinner podcast and they were talking about Sorceress' wings and Peekablue's feathers better be able to expand and contract just like that! It's possible.

I think I know what you mean, but in case I don't, different feather mechanics.

I'll be happy with static feathers or folding feathers. I do still prefer styleguide feathers with toy zig-zag accents.

    Those are some beautiful birds!

I see what you mean about the zig zags, but think what bothers me about them is that they all match up and even. I think the feathers would look better if the "zig zag" was more random and different on each feather.

I haven't shown the Peekster's thread any love recently so this is as good of a place as any to pick up the discussion.

Folding wings are indeed an option and Peekablue could have three wing segments that would fold up and hide behind each other. Likely with a barrel/plug/drum like we've seen with the Sorceress. Is the barrel an acceptable option? It would not be as seen as the wing drums on the Sorceress so I'd be cool with one on the lower back. Would the drum/barrel be part of her bodice?

Styleguide-wise Peekablue and Netossa share elements and I think the toys did as well(please correct me if I am wrong) regarding parts sharing. One thing they do not share is the belt. Peekablue has the eye belt and Netossa has the chest harness thing but their skirt (styleguide/Filmation) is the same. Should the belt be removeable to parts share the skirt with Netossa? However, would the belt need to be incorporated into the drum/barrel for the feathers and then not likely to be removeable?

    Discuss.

I always found it interesting that a female character was based on peacocks ... which are male.

I would prefer no wing drum jutting out of her back!

Why can't they just do what they did in vintage and make 2 holes in her back so we can plug her wings in...but now that I am thinking about it...her hair being plastic and not rooted may prevent that...

    Hmmmm...

I hope they go with the toy or toy/Styleguide hybrid I made, but regardless of what design they choose, I hope the feathers are designed to function similar to the 80's toy:

The "drum" like the Sorceress got, can be sculpted to be the "back pack" so it's less noticeable. I would still like the wings to be able to be attached and detached to her back (like the 80's). The back pack will have to be designed on an angle to accommodate her hair though.

For Netossa and Peekablue (if they make them based on the 80's toys), they share the full arms/bracelets and legs/boots. They also share the same top. They would only need to make new heads, removable skirt pieces and a cape for Netossa.

If they make them Styleguide or Filmation accurate, it leads to more tooling (more money $$$$).

I didn't know the toy's backpack was removeable, good to know. For that matter I didn't know it was a backpack at all.

I still favor the Filmation skirt style they share and just give Peekablue an eye belt and Netossa her torso armor/harness as possible removeable pieces. That way the shared parts would be arms/bracelets, legs/boots, bodice and skirt. Save even more money

I'm looking at Trap-Jaw and his belt and wondering if they did have to use her belt to accomplish moving feathers (design team loves them some curve balls) and it could be removeable. The fastener could be in the front and concealed by the eye. It would likey be low enough to allow her plenty of head movement as well.

I don't think that will really work. The Styleguide design for the skirts is the same as the toys, except Netossa's skirt has been shortened. Peekablue's skirt is cut straight across (like She-Ra and BP She-Ra), and Netossa has a V shaped skirt. If they retain their skirt uniqueness, Netossa's skirt could potentially be re-used for a toy She-Ra variant in the future.

    I'm talking about this style

    NetossaCel1a.jpg

Which to me is similar enough (not 100% but close enough to do it) to use the same hip joint cover piece/skirt and give the girls a sepereate belt and harness/armor respectively. With toystyle bracers, boots, bodice.

Oh, and I saw this while image searching, for the feathers having an angle

Peekablue is actually what of the PoP characters I am truely looking forward to. After seeing the Four Horsemen's sculpt for Frosta, I was pretty darn impressed! (I know there were some issues with the face sculpt and stuff - see, I'm not a PoP specialist at all; overall I'm more into He-Man). They are able to create beautiful female figures and it seems to me that they can pull all their skills on Peekablue... I think she would most probably look amazing. To me, personally, I wouldn't mind seeing an upgrade on her feathers - more like a real peacock. But anyway... as long as it doesn't have the Sorceress's drum-like thing sticking out. That's a no-no! Her abilities and hence her bio could make for a very interesting figure!

Here here! Call me a cartoon purist (at least as far as She-Ra goes!) but I loved the seeress thing. Gave her a real important role to me.

I am actually looking forward to Peekablue for this reason more than many other of her more favoured compatriots. I think I only want Glimmer & Castaspella more perhaps, and that includes Frosta who I like but doesnt rank as highly.

I definitely want to see Peek-A-Blue in this line--she's a stunning character visually!

What are your thoughts on some easy parts reusage for her? I'm thinking:

BP She-Ra's boots in teal and red as an homage to the vintage toy's boots
Teela's lower arm gauntlets in teal and an appropriate accent color (again, as an homage to the toy)
Starla's bodice in teal (though they'd have to remove the star and add peacock feathers)
    She-Ra's lower skirt/belt in gold
She-Ra's shield in teal with an appropriately colored stone
(The head and backpack would obviously be all new.)

    Telkan2,

I like that you're thinking about this kind of thing. It may not be my optimal Peekablue, but I can play along with the parts reuse speculation game.

I favor her style guide look, so I'd be fine with She-Ra 1.0's boots and bracers.
If a bodice was reused I'd choose Sorceress's bodice and I think you're correct the BP She-Ra's skirt could be neat.
Teela's legs, with the additional poseability

That's if the have heavy parts reuse.

One thing I really hope her deisgn incorporates foresight. Peekablue came with Crystal Moonbeam at one point, which is cool and in my opinion makes that horse her de facto mount.

Both her toy and styleguide design posses a low hanging strip of cloth on her dress that would prevent her from properly sitting on a mount.

That's something that I'd be willing to forgo (maybe shorten the length to just slightly below the skirt's main hemline) if it meant she'd be able to sit atop of Crystal Moonbeam.

Emiliano did a MOTUC figure concept for Peekablue and I LOVE her! She's perfect, in my opinion. He gave her the Filmation face and hair, the Filmation SHAPED feathers...but with the toy design and a detailed version of the Filmation collar.

I think he's going to be doing Netossa soon so he can show how the PoP figures can have parts re-use just like the MOTU guys! For Peekablue/Netossa they share: they same basic female buck, boots, bracelets and top!
