Cool! He's just some blonde guy.

Is this before he gets his "neck powers"?

I can not read German, I just like to look at them for the artwork. Perhaps one of our German .orgers can give us a hand.

Using a couple of translation sites, best I can come up with is

"He-Man! I already thought (maybe knew), I didn't create it any more! An.....an invasion threatens Eternia!"

"Horrible creatures...... from the dimension of madness!"

    Sounds pretty cool!

Woah...I'm learning a lot about Man-E-Faces this week. A few days ago I discovered what he would have looked like in the future (He-Ro: Son of He-Man by Filmation, if it made it):

Yeah, I was up all night scanning these - I REALLY should re-scan these bigger at some point!

This actually wasn't a Filmation production - They'd closed down in 1989 - This was a pitch in 1996 by Lou Scheimer Productions...

There were a LOT of elements about this pitch that I liked - That said, I'm not sure how good a show it would've made...

Oops on the Filmation part. That's what I get going from memory. I only read bits of character descriptions and such. It's such a tease that they knew who were going to be "He-Ro's" parents, but they didn't give it away in the series bible.

I'm quite fascinated by the new, unique people though. Especially Kay-la. ...and Evil-Lyn's string bikini look is pretty risque for a cartoon!

I believe Lou Scheimer was questioned on this back in 2000 - He stated that the parents were going to be Adora and Sea Hawk!

LOL - Oh yes - Her costume is VERY nineties comic book influenced!

Okay, that makes sense now based on things someone else said. I wonder how they lost their son though... Also, it's sad to see He-Man lost touch with She-Ra. Great to see Adora and Sea Hawk stayed together though.

    Thanks James,
I really enjoy seeing pictures of the characters sans masks/helmets!

Are there any reasons as to why some characters look drastically different?

It could be down to one of two things...

    1) They wanted to completely reinvent the cast...

    2) I know for a fact that they hadn't spoken to Mattel about this project, so they may have wanted to avoid too many likeness infringements...

Oh man, I remember when the He-Ro (Son of He-Man) thing was revealed for us on the .org back in the day.

While I liked PARTS of it, the thing as a whole felt like such a ... I'm not sure how to say it... but really REALLY mid-90's.

I'm also honestly kinda happy it didn't become canon. I'm one of those people who just can't get into stuff like the Star Wars books and comics that are about Leia and Luke's kids... Just my view on it, of course.

The beauty about the original line, the 2002 line, heck, even the New Adventures line, is that no matter when they were created their designs are somewhat timeless...

This He-Ro cartoon would not have aged well because it screamed "NINETIES!"

Aaaaactually, there is no good nor bad aging.
There's just aging so if something's good, it'll always be good (the "I loved it when I was a kid, but not as an adult" thing is a matter of individuals taste that has changed over the years).

    You misunderstand...

We're saying that the 1996 re-visioning of He-Man was very much a part of the time it was created in...its influences are quite apparent...

The original, New Adventures, and 2002 line were grounded in their basic concepts - Timeless characters that effortlessly fit into their worlds - The characters from the proposed He-Ro series look like they came straight out of a nineties comic book...

I'm not saying that it's a good or bad thing - I'm saying that you can look at those character designs and easily recognize them as nineties designs...

Going from my 3 years of German study, and a little bit of google translate, this is what I get out of Meck's speach-bubble:

"HE-MAN! I'll be dead soon... I can't make it any longer! An... an Invasion threathens Eternia!
Terrible, terrible space-ships... From the DIMENSION OF MADNESS!!!"

Sounds like Eternia's about to be invaded by the spawn of Ctulhu or something... And I definitely agree, this looks like Mekaneck prior to his transformation into a cyber-organic.
