I've just been browsing through the 'Bio art thread'.
I came across Trap Jaw's art that was used for his bio (here). Which is taken from the UK Ladybird adventure-game book 'He-Man and the Memory Stone'.
So... I know this has been asked before, but just what do Mattel own, concerning the Ladybird library? As in, what can and can't they use?! I'm confused that they can use this image, suggesting they have the rights in part, at least.
If Ladybird was available, there might be a loophole for a Filmation-style Queen Marlena, as well as cool Ladybird creations such as Skeletor's Skelcon workers, and - how cool would this be - a 'beast sized' Iron Master.
I understood that Ladybird was, for now, off-limits to Matty, but after realising where this image came from, I'm confused all over again.![]()

Mattel did say they can make a Filmation-style Queen Marlena "in any color dress" they want, but I have no idea how the image rights vs. book rights work.
There are cool Lady Bird characters I would like to own though.![]()

Now that is weird, is there a list of characters from the Ladybird books ?
Skelcons
Goat Man
etc..
You already started a thread about Ladybird Book rights. Please use that thread for discussion or additional questions. It helps keep the clutter on the boards down.
