    Avengers-Earth's Mightiest Heroes Thread

So...has anyone been catching the "preview marathons" on Disney XD this weekend?

I love all the nods and references. Did you guys catch the soldiers from Predator in Ant Man's episode (Dutch, Dillon, Blaine and Billy are Klaw's mercenaries)?

I watched the preview episodes online - I think I've seen all 20 of them now, and am looking forward to the show; it looks like it could be a good counterpart to JLU. Certainly a ton of cameos, and a really strong ensemble cast - plus the whole 'classic/original' Avengers team is accounted for - Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, Ant-Man, Wasp, plus Hawkeye, Black Widow and Black Panther. (I'll be surprised if they don't work Vision in as well.)

The show proper starts Wednesday, I believe. (And the new season of Superhero Squad on Saturday.)

I DVR them and I was impressed with the references and story material they are putting in the series. I'm hoping the episodes are as good as advertised.

i noticed billy right away and suspected that another one was blaine. it didn't occur to me that dutch and dillon were the other ones.

i really liked the shorts. i only followed spider-man and x-men, so i'm just familiar with some of the more famous enemies of the people in this show. it was a lot of fun to see all these people i don't know anything about, knowing that i'll find out more as i watch the show.

it bugged me when i watched the parts with cap and bucky. i KNEW i had heard bucky's voice somewhere before. it wasn't until a couple hours later that i realized it was the guy that played robin on teen titans.

Because the black Nick Fury is the one that more people will know and recognize.

Probably because they took cues from the Iron Man movies.

    • I like how Avengers takes cues from various Marvel media:
Iron Man movies (Robert Downey JR imitation, computer Jarvis, black Nick Fury)
    Civil War (Maria Hill)
Hulk Ultimate Destruction (How Hulk takes out Helicopters)
Wolverine and the X-Men (MRD reference)

    • Did you guys catch Agent Bobbi Morse piloting the SHIELD jet in the desert that the Hulk caught? I love her freckles!

    • "Vigilante Punishes Again".

    • Howlett as a Howling Commando

    • Black Widow switching accents regularly: Americanized English accent to her allies and Russian accent to people she isn't too cozy with.

almost done catching up. My only real complaint is the potential replacement of the Nazi's with Hydra. I don't mind them being a subset and I understand this is Disney but they could have just downplayed it.

You can't downplay Nazis in a children's cartoon. You either remove them or leave them in and have Standards and Practices tell you to remove them.

    It really wasn't a choice.

Been watching the micro-eps on line, the Predator reference in "The Man In The Ant-Hill" was great. Even the shameless Wolverine cameo can't ruin what looks to be an awesome show. And honestly, who needs a mediocre show like 'Wolverine & the X-men' when you can have a great show like 'Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes'?
It's great being Lord of the Thundercats - especially hanging out with Cheetara - but the one draw back is that He-Man can still beat me up.

"Breakout" was off the hook! I eagerly await more episodes! It's on ALOT if you missed it, especially this weekend.

They really did a number on Manhattan though...

I'm overjoyed to see the Avengers done right. The Wolverine cameo in the minisodes makes me wonder if the Wolverine and the X-Men series is in the same continuity.

On Sunday all of the minisodes will be grouped together in 30 minute episodes. Should be nice to watch them all together rather than the out of order sequence they were shown in on XD.

This looks... watchable. For all its faults, Wolverine & The X-Men had so much potential! Marvel fans NEEDED to see The Age of Apocalypse in animated form, and less Wolverine in season 2.

I watched some of the mini episodes and I don't get it. Wouldn't sending Hawkeye and Black Widow after the Hulk be like trying to stop Brock Lesnar with 2 trained hamsters armed with cap guns?

I officially love this show. The 2-part premier had a few cringeworthy moments, but its really found itself in the last couple episodes.

I love that its being written as a serial: each episode has a self-contained incident but there are several other plots (HYDRA, the Leader, Black Panther) kept spinning in the background. And despite little touches lifted from the movies and Ultimates, it's also becoming clear that this is a love letter to the Lee/Kirby Avengers - the specifics differ, usually for the better (battling the Enchantress and Executioner instead of the Space Phantom, and HYDRA blob monsters instead of an ambulatory vegetable) but the overall arc being described is almost exactly out of the first year and a half of the books.

This series is being written by people that really know and respect their Avengers history.

Did anyone catch that the group line up at the end of the opening credits changes to reflect the current membership? The Hulk was missing.

I like the Wasp now! Well, this version anyway. I think the storyboard artists like drawing her, given all her different facial expressions this ep.

Cap's shield absorbs impacts...which is how he can survive Thor wailing on the shield...unless Thor pulled the blow.

The monster this episode was Doughboy, from Mark Guenwald's Cap run.

I completely agree. Love the show and find a lot of the little things they're changing to be likable.

I hope this thing stays on the air for a long time.

Hopefully since they're using the movie characters, you'd think they'd want to keep it going at least as long as the "shared world franchise" movies run - which could easily go 5 or 6 years if they keep doing well and warrant sequels.

I like this as well. Some of the things I love is that they stay fairly true to how things were in the comics. one BIG thing is that Capt. America doesn't start out on the team like in the comic.

I ALSO love the fact that they gave all the main avengers their own origin episode AFTER the the two parter pilot. Each origin episode showed what the characters were doing leading up to the origin episode.

one thing that REALLY threw me off was Nick Fury. He was a hybrid of the 616 universe(regular marvel universe) and the Ultimate universe. He has the look of the 616 universe but he is black like the ultimate universe. I have a sneaking suspicion that they originally had Nick Fury look exactly like the 616 universe but then late in the game they made him black to closer reflect the movies that have been coming out.

it was a nice touch to see how he got the white streaks in his hair in his origin episode.

I think the theme might be catchy with the younger crowd, but I agree not my pick for a theme.
