I also think Loeb should have kept his ego in check and not basically killed the show off just as the 2nd season began to air.

But I guess since he hates all stuff not made by him he could care less

Not only did he kill the show, but he likely really hurt the back half of S2 with his "single episode stories decree". Avengers tells huge multi-part stories better than just about any other cartoon.

Yeah, with that hurting half of the season I guess he wanted to make sure it was dead.

What a complete and total waste

GRRRR...the new avengers toon is prob the best marvel toon since the x-men/spider-man toon.

If they are putting the avengers in the ult. spider-man universe I won't watch it. I HATE the ult. spider-man show for the same reason others have stated.

No, something existing from before you started isn't in the least bit unique. What he's really saying there, from my reading, is that "Yeah, that was done before I came in and you know, we're not doing stuff that I didn't develop. I don't care if it's doing well, it's not MINE and it doesn't operate how I want our shows to operate."
Yup, that is how I read his words as well.

I HATE that they have to switch toons every couple years whether or not the toon is doing well. Spectacular spider-man was great and then canned.

I don't like that voice that talks over the opening credits in this new season, it totally spoils the theme song which imo was one of the best things of the show.

Oh and why do they refer to Thor as the "Prince of Thunder" are they worried some people may be offended if they use the word "God"?

LOL, I wonder if the fandom will consider it non-canon like the Goliath Chronicles.

Regime changes. The new guys in charge don't want to deal with the stuff the last guys did.

Yeah, I don't like either of those points.

A rumor with numerous sources. They won't officially announce anything until the 2nd season ends - they don't want to kill the ratings.

I don't understand why they would axe this show that is doing really well to change it for something which is aimed more at smaller children like Ultimate Spider-Man which isn't doing very well. It baffles me.

Similar issue that came up with Spectacular Spider-man, and the Boom Disney comics.

Yeah the Boom Comics thing was like a dagger to the heart, Ducktales and DWD were doing very well sales wise and it was just ended. At least they allowed them to tie up the current storyline first

It is inexplicable. AEMH is Marvel's JLU.
Season 2 is getting better and better leading to a sort of Secret Invasion story arc and it can easily lead the path to Civil War, Dark Avengers, Siege or any of the recent Marvel Universe multi-crossover story arcs.

I agree. One of the things I liked most is that Spectacular Spider-Man & AEMH had opening songs with lyrics, such as "old school" cartoon shows used to have back in the 60's, 70's & 80's.

That's pretty terrible news about the possible future of the show.

I can only hope there's a shake up first. I'd like to think Spectacular Spider-Man was taken away only because the studios changed, but it also set a precedent for dismissing quality. Getting rid of the story arcs of this show, or the show at all, just smacks of bad taste.

I also share others' love of the voice-over-free intro. I can't say the Avengers song does it for me, but there has to be a better way to introduce the show to the casual new viewer than that. I think networks in general have really lost their heads about opening title sequences on TV. It's probably about the increase in advertisements, but there was a time the intros WERE an advertisement and got you into the right mood for the show. The new Battlestar Galactica was very well served by both the pre-show intro and the regular title sequence that followed the teaser. I can think of many shows that have cut that down to a 5-second title card and abrupt signature theme that really should have had a full-on title sequence (No Ordinary Family and Heroes come to mind--not that it would have solved all their problems).

I saw the Dr. Doom episode last week and loved it. They portrayed Doom like the badass he is. I also saw the Techno-vore episode. That one was mediocre. But Sunday I saw the Acts of Vengenace episode and I liked that one too. I liked the Masters of Evil and Avengers teaming up to battle Enchantress and Executioner. I really like the scene with Crimson Dynamo battling them solo on Zemo's orders. That takes some courage for a mortal villain to take on 2 Asgardians.

Ha! So this show is possibly dying now? I just started watching it on netflix and I'm enjoying it quite a bit...I guess it's only standard that it gets canceled. Can't seem to keep any of these shows going, can they? Spectacular Spider-Man can't even seem to get the dang second season on DVD after it died, hopefully they can at least put the second season of this up on netflix so I can lament it's loss as well. *sigh* Why do I bother getting into these toons anymore? Anything good is bound to die off.

IMO, its far and away the best cartoon Marvel has produced and will age better than any of the previous ones.

Couldn't agree any more with both posts!!

I really hope Loeb doesn't kill this series. It's my favorite thing on TV currently.

The second season of Spectacular is available, just not as a season set. I was able to get the individual discs on Amazon fairly cheaply, but it would have been nice to just have a "Season 2" release.

Okay good; I never really researched it. Just kinda waiting for a "season 2" to show up at Target or something. I wasn't sure if it had at least all come out separately, so that's good to know. I'll probably end up just doing that, then.
