"Fortress of Power and Mystery" - Castle Grayskull painting

    Hey everyone,

    Thought I'd share this here. It's the painting I did for the Power-Con auction. It's acrylic on 14'' x 18'' canvas. It's lot #428:

I don't actually paint that much (well, non-digitally) anymore, and I was happy with the way it turned out. I really wanted to capture a sort of "feeling" with it... sort of like what Grayskull was to me as a kid.

    very nice.

Looks very large, menacing and foreboding and you get a real sense of heat and power from the open door / mouth
Take a look at my attempts at coloring

    Thanks!

I wanted to give the sense that you are walking into it (also a nod to the angle in the Filmation cartoon) and that the inside was sort of this chaotic abyss full of raw power. Which just so happens to be a slight nod to original card backs....

wow that's great. there's a definite energy in the picture, and I envy who ever gets the winning bid. A slight critizism that the red in the mouth is slightly off center, you know for us with a mild form of OCD...

Thank you for being so generous. I'm so happy it found a good home and the money is going to two great causes. The auction was a ton of fun. I made out with some amazing pieces.
