How did you do this? The black bottom of the axe hammer on his arm with the blade? As far as I can tell, the round black piece has 2 male ends?

The male end comes off.
Its not obvious at all, but I figured it had to when trying to copy someone else's build.
yeah, both switch pins are removable from the center piece. The center is a double female joint and the pins are double male. The larger end of the unique switch pin can be used to attach any other piece that accepts a male end onto all the weapon-hand figures. We'll use this same concept if we ever decide it's viable to redesign the Space Pirate set.

Stop! Please!!! I see these cool pictures of what folks are doing, and I want more of these sets. Have pity on my poor wallet!!!
Seriously, it is amazing just how much you can do with these pieces. Also amazing is the imagination of some of the folks here with the configurations they are coming up with. That pic with Trappy and the big fingers is so cool and creepy.
I gotta say it again, these sets are exactly what good toys are supposed to be: plain, old fashioned fun in a well designed, nicely detailed package.

SMC only knows how to make quality stuff. I had ordered 4 sets last week and now after seen these pics I ordered the gold and glow sets as well. I might buy a couple of more come the next paycheck. Go get yours before they sell out!!!!
Awesome builds Vaal! Keep 'em coming!
Jeremy and I are getting together today for another all weekend intensive sculpting session. We started last Saturday and have got some neat new stuff in the works.
We are working on something to build a narrative around our Armory. Something to add more play patterns and a storyline to give more life and meaning to the line.
For instance, ever wonder where the weapons come from? Someone, or something had to create and forge them right? Well these are the things we've been pondering and decided to build on those questions to expand the Spy Monkey product line beyond just weapons.
We are shooting to debut the next phase of SMC and The Armory at Power-Con in September. We're having a blast creating, designing, sculpting, fabricating, and just flat playing with this new chapter in our evolution and can't wait to share it with all of you.

This idea popped into my head as I read your post, Brian:
Is there a remote possibility for an Armory playset/diorama that could be reconfigured into different designs with the Glyos system, not only as a weapons display, but also to create bigger and badder weapons/accessories?
Already drooling!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was also thinking this past weekend over what kind of story could be behind the forging of these weapons. Im sure they would be of ancient origin. But, since they are similar, was each designed for each different group? Was the design stolen by the bad guys? Can't wait for the story!
Aargh! All of the amazing photos in this thread have made me cave in. Placed my order for a few sets today. Looking forward to checking them out in person.
And very intrigued by what we might see at power con.
Photog is here! thank you, Mattel!
Now how about some mini-comics love (like Lodar, Geldor, Dakon......)? And Mermista?
I made a Count Dooku lightsaber:
And I was also playing around with trap Jaw:

Hey have you guys thought about color change plastic like the stuff used on the
SDCC version of Orko?
Also have you thought of doing reverse color versions of all of you previous sets? (I.E.Reverse doppleanger Demon Saber Would have an orange blade and translucent blue hilt pieces, etc.)
