After seeing Hasbro's Star Wars Vintage Collection line, I'd like to see Mattel re-release some MOTUC figures (the original 8 perhaps) on vintage 80's style packaging to commemorate the 30th anniversary.
I've heard both 1981 & 1982 as the year that Masters Of The Universe first started. Which is it? Has ToyGuru ever stated when He-Man would "officially" have his 30th Anniversary? Also, do we think anything will be done for it? I mean something more than a re-issue of Filmation's MOTU on DVD ala She-Ra for POP's 25th Anniversary(although I feel He-Man has a better chance at a celebration since he started it all in the first place). If we do get some sort of MOTU 30th Anniversary celebration, what are you hoping gets made?

Fictional characters are just that. Fictional. They have no personality or free will of their own.
Writers and editors mold them to their own wants and needs.
All we as the audience and fans can do is pick and choose our favorite interpretation and ignore the rest.
2012 is the 30th anniversary and we do have big plans. Plans that do not involved reissues of vintage figures however. We'll be announcing more at SDCC!
If the style guide was 1982... then shouldn't it be 2012?
JITSU!!!! Thank the Elder Gods!!!!

I really didn't expect an answer from Mattel itself for this. Thanks for the quick response Toyguru(especially considering you did it during the weekend). While I'm a little disappointed that I have to wait over a year to celebrate my favorite toyline(actually, MOTU is neck-in-neck with DC Comics for my favorite franchise of all time), I now can't wait for 2012. After the relatively short lifespans of the MOTU Commemorative line & the 2002 line, who'd have imagined we'd be able to celebrate He-Man's 30th Anniversary right in the middle of a successful MOTU rebirth. Possibly some of the best news I've heard this year.
This is definitely front page news imo. Too bad I'm not sure I even know how to get it up there.![]()

Although the commemoratives where awesome, I'm glad that no more money goes to them.
Classics are way more awesome. Big plans... Castle Grayskull maybe... or all 8-back figures in an awesome all-in-one retro package-box-thing...

SDCC 2011 will be absolutely huge for Mattel/MOTUC news.
I personally think the mention of the Filmation rights would be correct as to what will be revealed in 2012.
Lets just hope the Mayans were wrong about 2012![]()
I can't wait !!!
Master of Mayhem
maybe that's when they'll FINALLY get the rights to make Filmation characters.![]()
Does Galactus fart?
hmmmmm... To be honest, I really didn't LIKE the commerative figures...
YES, with no other He-man around, I was foaming at the mouth to get a vintage He-man... and YES, I DID end up having to buy him TWICE for SOME reason or other... (Lost him in a move if I remember correctly..)
But they WEREn"T very good figures. The Arms just WON'T stay in the shoulders.... I don't know WHY, but the originals always came off if I popped them, but the commereatives did it when I lifted his arm.
and the hand wasn't 'deep' enough to the hold the sword correctly...![]()
