Adam is the only He-Man.
Vikor!!!
He-Ro!!!
King Grayskull!!!
Wun-Dar!!!
Oo-Larr!!!
Other(Please Explain)!!!
I cant vote in this. Not enough specifics. I guess I dont understand the nature of the question, and I really want to.
Currently in my mind Grayskull is probably the most responsible for what He-Man is in the storyline. Look, power, ect.
But Oo-Larr is obviously the Minicomic He-Man now, so he is the "original" He-Man. Maybe in the storyline that is not true, though I would allow that people of Eternia may believe that Adam He-Man is still that guy they remember from a few years back, so it's possible that he's storyline original as well, as far as "modern day" go for Eternians.
Then there is the fact that Vikor is evidentally the first "He-Man", the first of the line of those chosen to protect the sword. I dont know how much baring that had on who or what He-Man is, but it's notable.
Overall I just dont see a specifc question here as I understand it.
I am NOt going to vote since Filmation He-Man is not listed !!!
He-Ro; first (so far) with the Sword.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti
Jungle Attack He-Man in Classics!
I like He-Man himself, he is "The He-Man" all others had their own names after all.....
Oo-Lar, Wun-Dar & Vikor....all had their own names, Prince Adam is He-Man, when he changes, since he is the only one to be mentioned to change to He-Man from another form. The others never had the sword, they were protectors of the halves, Adam joined the swords together for the first time since D'Vann Grayskull.
But Even KG wasn't the first in line even though he is the direct ancestor of Adam, I had to vote for (even though I don't like him) He-Ro, Ro was the first (in name) mentioned holder of the Trolla sword, and it was only then passed to King Grayskull, then no one held the sword whole until Adam, for like 500 years or so.
So He-Ro is the first (He) - Man
Recent....Foe Men, Karatti & Spirit of Hordak
Coming....
Wanted....Filmation Hordak & Clawful, Seahawk, Castaspella, Batros & Icer
Considering....Mosquitor, Leech
Needed....Dragstor, Mantenna,Two Bad & Attack Trak
I went for Vikor. But that's as in my own "Universe". Partly to do with him being the original prototype, and other vague snippets we had prevously.
To quote myself from another thread a few months ago, I always wished they'd gone "the first He-Man" route with Vikor instead of "a brief stand-in between eras" sorta thing...
"I would have liked if they had said that Vikor was part of Eternia's earliest known tribe, when savage pre-historic beasts still roamed the land.
The evil Red Beast was terrorising his tribe, and Vikor was the only one who dared stand up to him. He was visited by a being from the skies, who called himself Zodak, who pointed him to a powerful material found near Vikor's tribe's worship monument, Skull Castle. Out of this material, Vikor constructed a powerful sword, strong in strength, but which also seemed to hold mystical properties.
As such, he fought off the evil Red Beast - though this was complicated when a being from an unknown land known as Demo-Man appeared on the scene.
Vikor survived to a great age, and while old, was still around and able when King Grayskull formed the Council. He died a warrior’s death defending the secrets of the Castle of Grayskull against the Horde."

Adam is the first He-man. All others were guardians of the sword and until Adam raised it aloft none others could summon the power. KG may gave put peramiters on it's use but Adam was tapping the power.
We don't need no education...
Yes you do, you've just used a double negative!
though clearly King Grayskull is He-Man, I see He-Ro as the ultimate wellspring of what was to become He-Man. Certainly he wasnt the best, strongest, or most powerful but he was certainly the font from which all later things came. Without him it would not have occured.
I'm very interested in He Ro, and I like to think that as a sorcerer supreme, He-Man isnt quite "finished" until he has another half, a sorcere. I guess that's why I like to picture She-Ra as depending more on her "magic" (in as much as "Sword to blank", or telepathy, ect) to He-Man's strength and prowess.
Though I feel that perhaps He-Ro was the "Sorceress" to Grayskull, as Green Goddess was to Many others, or the Sorceress to He-Man. both are important for the whole.
But He-Ro was the original first that was both before it split.

For me, it's Oo-Larr. I like the other choices and all could easily have been 'the original' but it's this version that fits the bill in my opinion.
I can't decide how to vote. The question seems arbitrary and open to interpretation.
Etherian Rebel JOSH for the MOTUC (see my avatar)!
other - prince adam.
I don't think there's an objective answer to this question. It depends on what perspective you prefer and wish to highlight. Vikor could be the original, since it was intended that he would become the protagonist (together with Demo-Man). He-Ro is indeed the first to protect and wield the Power Sword. King Grayskull is the one taking over from He-Ro and passing on his power to Adam so one could take him to be the beginning of the He-Man legend. Some will prefer the Filmation He-Man.
I grew up with the mini-comics and Filmation. I always felt that there were strange discrepancies. The former being more barbaric, with a strange, eerie atmosphere. The latter, of course, was incredibly popular, the figures really moved and talked and fought (remember, I was a kid back then) and I hold dear memories to these cartoons (or, at least to some episodes). Yet, they also seemed to be more comical, more light-hearted. I could never figure out those differences as a five or six year old lad.
To me, personally, though I love the He-Man in Filmation, the one and only, original He-Man is Oo-Larr (who, by the way, really, really, really needs a figure in MotUC)

King Grayskull is the first He-Man, as far as I am concerned.

He-Man is the original He-Man!
I can understand Adam being the most well-known He-Man. But I do kind of find it fascinating that there were others who carried the mantle of "He-Man" throughout the ages. I went with He-Ro since he would technically be the first He-Man and then King Grayskull, Vikor and so on.

I voted for mini comic He-Man. OoLar....Always thought he was the Savage He-Man.
Adam of the House of Randor, Ole Pink Shirt, Purple Pants Pretty Boy, whatever you want to call him, is the only He-Man for me.
I can't even say Oo-Lar without laughing. His name reminds me of a conversation I recently had with my dentist while his hands were in my mouth.

I know "Oo-Lar" was the first we saw in print but I'm gonna go with King Grayskull. His character was more fleshed out and his characteristics are closer to what is considered "He-Man" these days.
A journey that began long ago in a place neither near nor far…
A story of heroes, passed down through the ages…
Until now.
This is our story. These are our heroes…
To me, King Grayskull, He-Man's heroic ancestor, is the original He-Man, for in ancient, "preternian" times, he was the one who protected his kingdom, all Eternia, from the forces of evil. With King Grayskull, the legend began right after He-Ro's death, after he had given the Sword of Power to his friend so that the bargain with Trolla became possible, ensuring that the Power Sword could remain on Eternia, ready to be used as an effective weapon in battle against King Hiss as well as Hordak. King Grayskull freed Eternia from both SnakeMen and Evil Horde. He was the very first heroic ruler of the planet and the first He-Man in his role as protector of He-Ro's magical sword originally forged on Trolla.
