I think they've said that as long as it's in October they can't go, but if they move it back to whatever month it used to be in then they could...or something like that.

I really hope they make it to NYCC 2011 - I will be sure to attend. I was planning on attending this year, but changed plans after I learnt that Mattel would not be present.

Yeah Scott (TG) said that as long as its that late they cannot go. I imagine the only reason they went the first time was because it was close enough to Toy Fair to justify making a presence

And I doubt NYCC will move because Reed Exhibitions (the group who owns NYCC) has now made March the month that C2E2 in Chicago is going to happen. Mattel did show up that with a display (horribly put together and unmanned).

The reason NYCC has bounced around the winter/spring schedule was partly due to the Javitz Center's other bookings for that time of the year. Reed Exhibitions chose October as the new, steady month for Cons going forward to allow them a stable timetable for the event, despite the fact that it now comes too close on the heels of San Diego for us to expect many new reveals, or special guests.

There's no good coming from the decision to move to the fall, especially the fact that Mattel won't be able to attended for the foreseeable future which means we're missing out on a possible exclusive figure every year. Faker was technically a NYCC '09 exclusive, and had Mer-Man not been late, we would've had Adora in December and 2 exclusives in 2009.

When a line like this can squeeze another figure in, that's great! Knowing that it won't happen for sure is not.

there is one thing that is very good about the NYCC being in October.

October has the most perfect weather in NY. whomever was there last week knows what i'm talking about. It's not cold, it's not hot, it's not any bit humid. t-shirt weather in the daytime, light jacket weather at night. even if it's windy, it's still nice. can't beat it!

Those February NYCC's were so frigid and everyone knows how windy it gets down there.
