Laptop help question...Memory is full, doesn't make sense!

    Hey guys.

My C drive is showing as full, and RM helped me find where the memory is going. Music!

    Here's what I can't figure out...

My computer (My Music) is showing 99.2 GB and 2724 files.

    Yet my iTunes shows:

Music: 13.05 GB and 1600 files.
    Movies: 21.21 GB
    TV Shows: 19.98 GB
    Podcasts: 3.72 GB
    Books: 59.2 MB

Now, I don't even SEE the video stuff in the Music file, so how in the world do I have 13.05 GB on my iTunes and 99.2 GB on my computer?

Is there a way to figure this out without going through it file by file?

    Any help??

iTunes isn't going to show everything. It takes into account your media library, non other programs, OS install space, etc. It's still odd you'd have a full HDD though yours is really low capacity. 250 GB seems to be the lowest retail drives made now, not counting SSD.

I would suggest going here and asking for help- http://www.sevenforums.com

I figured it out... My computer had saved EVERY podcast I've ever downloaded.

    Ever!

I have you gone through windows explorer and checked the music file? It's possible there are duplicate files that Itunes decided it's the same so whatever on, or itunes hasn't been told to add the files to the software.

seems you found it, Podcasts can do that also.

It still might not be a bad idea to run some malware scans- if you don't have any such programs running you really should. Microsoft Security essentials is rather crap but it's free and offers real time protection, and should already be integrated into Windows 7. Beyond that, install Malwarebytes as a secondary scanner since it can find more stuff than MSE.

If you're thinking "I haven't done anything to have malware", it can hit you through browsers and embedded java code so you can get it without trying.
