60s Batman tv series finally coming to DVD

It looks like Warner Brothers was able to work out the rights issues.

    Awesome!

With the floodgates of the 60s series finally opening with DVDs, toys, and comics, I wonder if DC will be able to use some of the series-specific villains in the mainstream continuity?

Some of the 60s show villains did show up (in mass) in an episode of Batman Brave and the Bold. That was kinda cool!

I do love me the 60s show. I really hope we get the unedited cuts and they also include the Batgirl pilot short with Killer Moth. The edits running on MeTV currently seem more expansive than the ones that aired on the Family Channel and fX back in the 90s.

I never thought this would happen! I was kicking myself for not recording this when it was on The Hub, but this definitely makes up for my foolishness.

King Tut made his way into Batman: Confidential a few years ago. He was quite a bit more svelte, but his real name was "Victor Goodman" (a nod to Buono)

Hard to believe Warners and Fox finally ended their @#@$%^& match over this. Long, long overdue; I've been eagerly recording the eps on Me-TV since I went digital because I had no expectation this would ever happen. This is one of the series I grew up on, and the 60's Batman movie was the first film I ever saw in a theater.

Now give me my Tut-Tut figure already, Mattel!!!!!

Holy DVD release! It's about time!

My sister and I used to watch the re-runs all the time on the Family Channel and local TV in the 80's.

I REALLY hope this also comes out on Blu-Ray. I'll take DVD over nothing (and over any kind of digital distribution), but Blu-Ray would be ideal.

I'll be stunned if it doesn't come out on Blu-ray. Its a super-high demand title in the right genre for the format.

If Star Trek TOS can get a blu ray release then so can this.

I wonder will they "remaster" it? Hopefully we will have full commentary from Adam West and Burt Ward.

I am also looking forward to seeing some of these after so long. I do fear that it hasn't aged well at all (many things haven't); but only time will tell.

I think it hold up surprisingly well. I'm not sure new viewers will appreciate it, but if you were a fan before, you likely still will be.

What were the issues they were having with the rights that delayed it anyway?

Violence seems to age pretty well. The Three Stooges have aged well, for example.
The main draw for the show was always the brawl scenes.

I agree, I think it aged pretty well for what it was. I still find it fun and entertaining! I just recently watched the three parter when they were in London with Lord Flogg. Loved it!

And if we use other 60s color TV as an example (Star Trek, The Prisoner), it should look glorious on Blu.
