Probably just me but i think that the face of Lion-O in the new animated series looks uncannily like Frodo Baggins. On another note, looking forward to seeing these three different size line-ups.

I actually consider that the PERFECT Lion-o figure.

No added features ie : extra fur, extra fangs. Just a direct jump out of the cartoon! However it looks to be a season 2 kinda face wich is more detailed!!

That is a MUST buy for me, farewell MOTUC your days are numbered!

Meh. Giant and limited in articulation. I'll wait for the toys; that's bascially a statue.

Thanks Jon, I got him preordered for $34.99
When I went to the mezco page yesterday and saw the $99 I was like, no thanks. I assumed the sold out Thundertest was the mega figure. I like the hard hero statues alot, but they are so expensive and totally out of my budget. I could drop MOTUC for it, but that ain't happening! I love MOTUC too much This mezco mega figure still looks cool and is so much more affordable. Now mezco/bandai, show us some classic ThunderCats 7" figures! XD

I feel the same way. Tytus has more articulation than this figure

I'll watch the new cartoon but I probably won't pick up figures based on it. I am looking forward to seeing how the 8" classic versions turn out. Those I might pick up.

Question for those in the know:

With all the different licenses that are going to produce toys, will Icon Heroes no longer be making "Stactions." It just seems like so many companies are essentially making the same thing, that it would be frustrating to stick with one collection.

Even though the Mezco Lion-O is like a plastic statue, I don't mind. It looks better than the actual statues I've seen and it's much cheaper. I do hope the Classics Bandai figures have good articulation and are well done because I think that could be cool.

Depends on how long Icon Heroes signed their deal for, just because other things come out does not mean their deal automatically ended

Also what difference does it make how many products are offered? That is only a collector conundrum, these companies are out to make money and if the fanbase is rabid enough they will all benefit.

There are Marvel toys, statues, games, collectibles and same with something like GI Joe (statues, comics, toys).

You want to encourage companies to make Thundercats product not discourage them. Increased competition also makes the companies put out better product.

Icon Heroes didn't capture Lion-O well enough, but the rest look fantastic so far. Icon Heroes might have a hard time if Bandai releases the same classic figures (8"?) because at $50 a staction of only a little over 5", they are very expensive. I'm sure it would be very tough to compete with Bandai's prices. I wonder how much the Icon Heroes vehicles are going to cost if the stactions are already $50. I assume it must be well over $100.

I compared the pictures of the Mezco Lion-O with all the various statue releases and I agree that it looks great. I like the facial expression and the pose as well and the price is really nice as well.

I can't wait to see the Classics Bandai figures' prototype Lion-O. I really hope the classics will be a long line that includes all the main heroes and villains and that the 8" scale will actually be more like a little over 7" for the tallest and with at the very least 12 PoA.

I believe that makes a lot of sense. A lot of complainers I've seen are just completionists. I say if a completionist grieves over their hobby for a second, they need to find another hobby.

Icon Heroes won't have competition from Bandai, while the audiences overlap the two markets are completely different. Icon Heroes "stactions" are meant for the art and statue crowd, Bandai is meant for mass retail.

That would be like saying Gentle Giant cannot make their Star Wars statues/busts because Hasbro makes action figures.

Also, Icon Heroes is now using PVC material rather than resin to lower the cost. So the price just decreased to around $25-30. The material is probably what the 4H used on the MOTU 200X staction line. I think they should have gone that route in the first place.

Really? That makes them a lot better!
I'm considering this line now with a price tag of $25-30.
The $50 price tag was way too much for the scale imo.
I hope they will redo Lion-O at some point with a better headsculpt and also in the PVC material with the lower pricetag.

Yeah, I believe they plan on redoing Lion-O down the line. The PVC line will start with Jackalman, followed by Jaga. I don't know when Lion-O will be back, but I don't think the current resin Lion-O sold out. So reissuing him isn't really a priority at the moment.

Big Bad Toy Store just put up their preorder pages! Lots of new information!

18 points of articulation for the collector's figures!!

OMG, I am going to have an awesome birthday in August!

the 3 scales will kill my wallet.

It is all about how the figures look and how articulated they are.

I am not sure I want 8' figures so i'll see but i hat that this is the only scale the classic figures are going to come in.

I HOPE that the 6" versions rock my socks off.

I can see my self collecting the whole 4" line if they are cool just cause they can co-exist with my other 4" lines I collect.
I want NA Skeletor and Rio Blast and I want them now!

Some official pics are up at toynewsi: http://i.toynewsi.com/g/?mode=album&...ze=800&start=0

It's what I expected...sadly... so it'll be a big ol' pass for me. Soft sculpts, bland paint... just doesn't do it for me. I think the Thundertank is a bit of a downgrade style-wise too... although this says ThunderLynx... is it the same thing? Maybe they lost the trademark? Oh well. I really didn't need to collect another toy line. Hopefully the classics are better.

I love the new stuff! Looks good, and sturdy. I'm also real excited for the little sword of omens with the four in figure! That's the sword of omens I always wanted! Man, I'm actually pretty excited for this line, and for the classic styled figures as well. This is pretty cool! Feels like the 200X He-Man all over again. Hope this one lasts longer!

Probably to do with the figures 'linking' with the vehicles & activating action features. The Bandai Captain Scarlet figures did a similar thing with their vehicles (though by 'action feature' it was just 'made a different noise when you pressed the sound button').
