Yeah the only thing I have not seen in full stock is the Storm Charger, has anyone seen that?? Claudus is impressive as is Tygus as far as figures go. At first glace I thought Tygus was just a modified Tygra but his sculpt really is done well.

I hope they reach the 6" scale because they would look great imho

I've actually read that several TRU stores have either scaled back to hardly nothing or dropped the line. In some areas TC sold well while others it doesn't sell at all.

My TRU had most of the Basic vehicles and Wave 1 figures in stock the entire holiday which was a surprise since they sold out of about almost everything else. Then after the holiday it was all on clearance. I once counted 25 Lion-O Thunderacers. Now they have 4 pegs in the "Anime" section: 2 for basic figures and 2 for Deluxe figures.

My Walmart on the other hand, has a huge section that has tons of product. I found 5 Claudis last week. The 4" figures are plentiful. The 6" figures though fly off the shelves. They can't keep them in stock. I couldn't believe that I found a Cheetara last week while looking for a MH Cupid.

I'd say it's the opposite. You can find 4" figures everywhere but I see empty pegs of Deluxes and even the Basic vehicles at Target, Meijer, and Walmart. Maybe all the regular stock is shipping to the Midwest and all the Deluxe stuff to the East Coast.

So why is Tygus missing like a ton of articulation? I saw him yesterday and it looks like he has no ball jointed arms or legs.

The only thing that I've seen/found so far are the new Classics figures (Lion-O and Mumm-Ra), which I picked up. I haven't found any of the new figures based on the new series (neither the 4 inch nor 6 inch figure... though I'm not collecting the 6 inch modern figure line).

All the Walmarts south of Chicago sell them.

I haven't been out to Aurora in a while though.

I LOVE the new designs. I think with the exception of Panthro, all the characters have been improved upon!

I still think they didn't have to change the Sword of Omens, but the fact they kept the new sword so close to the original design was a good decision.

TRU's selection has become pretty bad since the initial launch of the toys. Wal-Mart is the only store carrying the new waves, but even then, I end up only seeing the 4" Lion-O variant and the Mumm-Ra with small wings fig. Hopefully more retailers pick up this line.

Oh yeah! The new 6" Cheetara is fantastic! I can't wait to find Tygra! I'm sure we'll see more figure announcements next week too!

I was at Toys R' Us last night and there's a deluxe sized battle glove to go with the deluxe sword now. Pretty cool, but not $25 cool

I have an appointment with Bandai next week at NY Toy Fair to see their new product. here's an interesting note I feel is worth mentioning. When I received the invite from Bandai to set up an appointment, their invitation only hyped showing new product for Ben 10, Power Rangers, and Pocoyo.

When I e-mailed the rep back to schedule my appointment, I asked if they would have any new ThunderCats products on display as well. His response was a simple "Yeah, we should have ThunderCats as well." And then went on to hype Ben 10 and Power Rangers some more.

Now, take from that what you will. I just thought that was odd, and it worried me a little bit. We'll of course know for sure this weekend what Bandai has in store for Thundercats. I just thought their lack of promotion of the brand, and general lack of enthusiasm for it was a bit odd.

That sounds pretty sucky, Dan. If you can, ask if maybe they're trying to coincide the big figure releases with the premiere of the cartoon in some way. Maybe they just don't want to hype figures when the show is still on break?

Another thing to ask is maybe if they're considering scaling back their playset releases, since the Thundertank and Palace of Omens (or whatever it's called - I forget) were discounted down to $10 over the the Holidays and every store has an abundance of them in stock still.

I was surprised to stumble upon the giant gold Lion-O armored figure the other day at Wal-Mart. It didn't actually ring up in the price scanner, so maybe it was put out early by accident or something.

I really, really hope the 6" lines at least last long enough to finish the main hero teams. I'm still disappointed about the 8" figures getting the axe.

Well to be honest without the show on the air currently there is absolutely no reason to hype the toys. I mean we have to remember the business model is aimed solely at kids. If there is nothing on for them to say "I need this toy" then there is no point wasting a reveal or a push.

Internet collectors are happy with reveals but they do not make up the bulk of sales (sadly, if we did I think we would have much better toys available to us lol)

Though it is worrisome since Toy Fair is how you entice retailers to pick up your lines on their already crowded shelf. So no real hype or promotion can lead to no good presence at the stores....which as we know from 200x MOTU ends up very badly.

Lets hope they have some neat things to show us and not just Lion-O and Tygra variants

Jeez. It looks like the new Thundercats might end up being less successful than the 2002 MOTU era. I'm happy that Mattel decided to release MOTUC online since it seems like unless your franchise is called Star Wars or Transformers, you're pretty much dead in the water at retail.

Bandai only just released wave 2 recently with the deluxe 4" (including Ssslithe) and 6" Tygra to follow. At a guess I expect to see the 4" deluxe Ssslithe, 6" Tygra and all the stuff that has already hit stores recently at Toy Fair. You have to remember its an international event targeted at all toy retailers globally, some of whom likely haven't placed orders with Bandai yet for the wave 2 stuff.

To be honest, I never understood why MOTUC (being sold only online) has reveals there since its only open to the industry...

Mark is right though, its unlikely they will debut any futher new stuff until the cartoon resumes its run. At best I guess we could see a couple new 6" Classics or the 8" Classics Cheetara, since those wouldn't require the new cartoon to push their sales.

Is this 8" Cheetara I keep hearing mentioned "official"? While I wouldn't mind if they continued the 8" line(it reminds me of LJN), I figured it was over with the introduction of the 6" Classics. It's weird how the 6" Classics line started with how I think most lines would start(the main hero & the main villain) while the 8" line keeps giving us heroes only.

Dan, do you think you could mention the issues about the peg joints and all the issues that many are complaining about on the figures? See if they might fix them?

MOTUC and other Matty properties are shown at Toy Fair because there is always the possibility retail might want "in" on the product. DC vs MOTUC was a failure at Toys R Us but it was most certainly born out of the appearances Mattel has made at Toy Fair

Retailers like to know there is a life with the product, Mattel is going to most likely use the Voltron Matty subscription to sell future Voltron Force toys. WWE also is both in retail and online.

I think it was an interview with MTV Geek they mentioned Cheetara appearing in the 8" scale, so its possible we could see her revealed soon. However its all speculation on my part. Its possible they only have the wave 2 stuff already revealed on show at Toy Fair. If the 8" Cheetara does ever see a release, I'd expect it to debut at Toy Fair.

We have some detailed looks at Panthro and Mumm-Ra over on the site now: http://geek-news.mtv.com/2012/02/06/...ndercats-line/

I'd have to dig up the info on 8" Cheetara but I'd bet good money we'll see her at Toy Fair. And if anyone wants to bookmark it, our Toy Fair site is here: http://www.mtv.com/geek/event_covera...air/main.jhtml
