    MOTUC Meteorbs Discussion/speculation

Since the Meteorbs were, in essence, a Japanese toyline that was tacked on to the end of the original MOTU and shoehorned into the origins of the Rock People, what are your thoughts on them being part of the new canon?

For me personally, I had never even heard of a Meteorb until I was an adult. They somehow slipped past me. That, or my mom thought they were dumb and steered me away from them.

Since I don't remember anything about them, I wouldn't be affected one way or the other.

    How do others feel?

Lets try to stay clear of the tooling costs involved, and focus on our desire, or lack thereof, to see them.

I know almost everyone on these boards hate The Meteorbs, but I can't wait to see what The Four Horsemen can do with them. I want everything Mattel and The Four Horsemen have in store for us MOTU fans!

Personally, they are not for me.

But, if the fans decide to push for them, then I don't intend to stand in anybody's way!

They just aren't "characters" to me. I like human/humanoid characters over creatures, but that's just me.

Curious to see how everyone stands on this one...

Ha! Probably not, but I would LOVE to see what the 4H could do with them. I only had one, but I loved the heck out of it. Still got 'em actually! A little tiger. Would be cool if they just made one as a bonus sometime. Wonder if the 4H have fooled around with the idea at all, and maybe drew some sketches?

Just as I said about Extendar, Blast Attack and the other "gimmick-only" characters in the last couple of years of MOTU, the Meteorbs would be my cue to abandon the line.

They were really gimmicky. I got turned off by the gimmick only figures, too, back in the 80's.

I remember those from back then, but I never got them. I really had no interest in them. That being said, I'm sure they would end up being a bonus thing and not a regular monthly release, so by all means, make 'em for those who want 'em.

I'd like to see Comet Cat as a pack-in with Rokkon or Stonedar.

While they don't really 'fit' with the rest of the universe, I had a couple as a kid and really enjoyed them. I'd definitely buy 4H versions of them - I'll admit it.
Photog is here! thank you, Mattel!

Now how about some mini-comics love (like Lodar, Geldor, Dakon......)? And Mermista?

I liked them a lot. I used to just play with them along with the Rock People. They also were fun to use with the Eternia playset for whatever reason.

Too me, they cheapen the mythology, so I hope that they don't come back.

On the one hand, I don't care for them. I'd rather have any slot they take up be replaced with another toy.

On the other hand, my sense of curiosity would like to see what the Four Horsemen could do with such lame characters. It'd be interesting to see.

I'd like to see at least some of them as pack-in minifigures. Yeah, the Meteorbs didn't really fit into MotU, but I always digged them.

Well, by the same measure Battle Cat was also 'shoehorned' into the line, as he is a redeco of a mold from a previous toy line.

So with that said, bring on Meteorbs!

Amen Brother! If they were released Id like to see them as 'Bonus' figures so I dont get them In the sub.
I Remember that the rock people and the meteorbs were major factors in me stopping collecting MOTU in the 80's. I saw them as an attempt to cash in on the TF Craze. so i lost faith in Mattel cos it looked like they didnt have faith in MOTU anymore.
Dear Mattel, Please remember you are one of the biggest toy companies on the planet, So hows about making toys people want and NOT Excuses.
