not sold on this guy yet. brandon routh (especially now) looks a lot more like superman than he does.
I can't see Blueboy in those pics, but I thought Ledger as Joker was crazy when I first heard that as well, so I'll reserve judgement.

After seeing Sucker Punch today, all I can say is I can't wait for the Superman reboot after Zack Snyder's.

SP was pretty bad if ask me and i would be worried as well if was WB who made SP and he was doing Superman. I wonder if we will get a director change if they cannot agree on the film. It being WB and Snyder. Even if Nolan is there
It was a great looking movie but it also reminded me of a PG-13 "I Spit On Your Grave"; A movie that fetishizes brutality towards women while hiding behind the veneer of female empowerment. I felt like I was watching Michael Bay's wet dream after he finished a marathon viewing of anime porn. Yechh, I need another shower just thinking about it.
If it wasn't for Dawn Of The Dead and a lot of Watchmen, I'd say that Zach Snyder might be one of my least favorite genre directors ever.

Cavill needs a shave, and the hair will need some shoe polish and straightening, but I think the actor can bring it at least as much as Routh, and maybe more. We'll see, but honestly Cavill is one of the more encouraging aspects of this Superman reboot for me. I'd pick on a lot of other choices that have been made long before I bemoaned that casting choice.
But surely the Owls G'ahoot proves that...no, I can't finish that even as a joke. I like many of his visuals, but I can say the same about Julie Taymor and Richard Kelly--they still have made stinkers. I heard Sucker Punch was a shrewd send up of the fetishized action heroine genre--or tried to be but didn't have the substance to pull that off. I haven't seen it though so I can't say one way or the other. I would hope the reported excesses of the movie show WB that they can't let Snyder run wild--and they should start reigning him in when he starts saying he's independent of their JLA franchise. That shouldn't be the case, he's not Orson freaking Welles.
He's not even one of the Farrelly brothers.

Now a source close to Lindsay Lohan said the troubled actress will audition for a role in director Zack Snyder's upcoming "Superman" reboot this week, Radar Online reported Monday.
"Lindsay plans to return from New York on Wednesday and meet with producers and read with an actor who is up for the role of Lex Luthor," the source said.
Lohan, 24, would reportedly be reading for a role as a villain. That means she could be auditioning for the rule of Miss Teschmacher, Luthor's sexy accomplice, played in the 1978 original by Valerie Perrine.
The "Mean Girls" star will go on trial for felony grand theft this month. She is charged with one count of felony grand theft for allegedly walking out of a jewelry boutique without paying for a $2,500 gold necklace on Jan. 22 in Venice, Calif.
On March 23, Lohan rejected a plea deal that would include a 90-day jail sentence and opted to take her chances at a trial. If found guilty at the trial, she will likely be sentenced to jail. A source close to the "Superman" production said Lohan's potential jail time "almost certainly would coincide with the production schedule."
If cast in the "Superman" reboot, Lohan would join a cast that includes Henry Cavill as Superman, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner and Diane Lane.
Lohan has also reportedly been offered a role as Sharon Tate, the actress who was murdered by followers of Charles Manson in 1969, in an upcoming movie about Manson, according to TMZ.

It doesn't matter. This movie is probably going to be rebooted before it even has a sequel. I think they should cast Tina Fey as Jimmy Olsen while they're at it.
That's old news as well. She wouldn't get it anyway. Plus she's reportedly dropping her last name. They wouldn't cast someone with just a first name.
Good news is, with WB acknowledging that the Superman and Batman characters involved in the Justice League movie WON'T be the Nolan or Snyder versions, maybe Brandon Routh could possibly return to the role of Superman for the Justice League franchise.

Because Superman Returns was "that" terrible.I thought it was a decent film, emo at times, but it re-captured the classic Superman films in many ways. And it had THE theme for Superman. I suppose Snyder's Superman will have a theme that is death punk metal or something else that isn't memorable. Just like whatever theme is used with Nolan's Batman films. I cannot hear it in my head even after watching the two Nolan films YET I remember THE Superman theme from John Williams and THE Batman theme from Elfman.
That is the way it is today. Film composers cannot seem to write theme music for anything that is easily used to identify the character.
Now that I've had time to think on it, maybe re-booting Batman again after the Nolan series is complete won't be so bad. Maybe we can finally get away from the all black suit, black eye shadow and MORE towards the iconic Batman.
As for Snyder's Superman, I still think Snyder is going to make him a stupid ninja.

I agree about the themes. I don't love the four movies before Batman Begins but Elfman's theme was great. The only franchises I can think of since 1989's Batman that had memorable themes are from Elfman(**** Tracy) & Williams(Jurassic Park, Harry Potter). I'd also add Jerry Goldsmith's Shadow score, but I'm one of the few people who loved that movie.
If Sucker Punch had been released earlier, I don't think WB would have even signed Snyder up for this movie. Between Nolan's penchant for realism and Snyder basically Michael Bay with a little more talent, I'm scared for my favorite superhero.

Hopefully Snyder will bring back all the good things from Singer's film like Superman spying on Lois and her family using x-ray vision, him leaving for five years while Lex gets away and Lois has his kid, the return of Kitty Kowalski, telling Lois to leave her fiance because he can't fly.
what about the part where superman lifts up a boat WHILE standing on it?
Not that hard for a guy with super strength who can also fly.
I was more put off by his lifting an entire continent of kryptonite that had only minutes earlier been killing him (an amazingly boring climax).
