I wouldn't have known that that was Phantom Lady if you didn't tell me who it was. She might as well have been a new character.

Amethyst is coming back!!!
It may have been a comic I never told my friends I bought, but I always loved it as a kid.
Also, has anyone been buying any of the relaunched Valiant Comics?

Anyone else reading the new Scarlet Spider series? Just read the first 3 issues and issues 4 and 5 should be arriving in the next couple of days and so far I am really liking it, easily one of the best comics Marvel has put out in quite some time. If the writing and art stays this good I think I shall be sticking with it, plus Kaine / Scarlet Spider is shaping up to be a great anti-hero![]()
The closest I've come to reading it is a friend told me that it was really good.Even though it would have been next to impossible to bring him back after he crumbled to dust, Ben Reilly will always be Scarlet Spider to me while Kaine will be the guy who looked like a scarred homeless man.

Ben Reilly was indeed a great Scarlet Spider as well as just being a great character but you really should give this new one a try cuz I mean it has made me start collecting Marvel comics again so that has to count for something![]()

Every time I get frustrated with something that DC has done or gotten rid of with this New 52, they do something else to get me excited again. All 4 of those titles sound exciting to me. As long as I already posted one cover above and Midor was nice enough to supply a link to more New 52 news, here are the other 3 covers...

I was discussing era's of comics with some people and we ended up talking about the different Editor-in-Chiefs at Marvel. And I think the Jim Shooter era (1978-1987) just may be the apex of the medium. So many great things happened during that decade.
-Claremont & Byrne's X-Men
-Calremont & Smith's X-Men
-Miller on Daredevil
-Byrne's FF
-Simonson's Thor
-Stern & Byrne's Captain America
-Stern's Avengers run
-Stern's Spectacular/Amazing Spidey runs
-DeFalco's first ASM run
-Micheline/Layton/Romita Jr. Iron Man
-Sienkiewicz on Moon Knight/New Mutants
-Creation of Epic
Its amazing how many comics on that list still hold up as great today. It makes me kind of sad to put most of today's output against that era.
As far as Shooter goes, if you haven't already, you should check out his blog. He often has some really fascinating posts - especially when he talks about his days at Marvel.

I don't check out his blog daily, but I have checked it out in the past when I saw links to it. It's a shame that so many people hold grudges against him since he would have been the ex-Marvel EIC that DC should have gone after. Although, from what I've read, there are quite a few people none too fond of Bob Harras either.
DC comics is putting many of the collected books on the Nook Tablet/Color.

Barnes and Nobles did drop many of these earlier this year late last year because DC didn't let give them digital copies. Barnes and Nobles wants to release in all formats and stuff so they pulled the hard copies. This looks like a mending of the ways.

And so ends one of the greatest "crime comics" of all-time. What an absolutely fascinating and thoroughly entertaining book. Thank you Jason Aaron and R.M. Guιra.

My marketplace feedback
Just curious cause the series wrapped up a couple weeks ago, but anyone else here read Kirby Genesis?
I really enjoyed it, unlike the big Two, this series delivered what I always wanted in a superhero comic, crazy out there concepts, colorful costumes, all of Jack Kirby's crazy-big ideas all convalesce into anarchy while following from the perspective of one collage age kid caught up in the middle. It's almost what I would have imagine the 1987 He-Man movie would have been like from those concept paintings come to light recently, had they a big enough budget of course. Heck even Captain Victory bares a striking resemblance to He-Man if her were a galactic bounty hunter/cop (on the bottom-left cover). Plus it's got Alex Ross covers which I'm always game to collect...y'know him abandoning the big Two publishers should have been a canary in the coal mine that things were going down hill, now he's almost exclusively at Dynamite Entertainment, which I wouldn't mind so much were every comic they make more expensive (3.99) then DC/Marvel...but you are getting more page content at least.![]()

I have a pre-order on Udon's first original Street Fighter graphic novel, "A New Generation"-vol 1, coming out on the 13th. If I understand it correctly, it will be a mixture of Super Street Fighter 4 into Street Fighter 3's timeline. I'll be back once I recieve and read it.

So I saw an advert today in my new Venom comic for Spider-Man #700 which says something like "No More Power, No More Responsibility" which makes it sound like they are not killing him but instead de-powering him.
This ****** me off as much as the idea of killing him does. First Marvel does that crap with Morlun and "The Other", then there was the god awful Civil War mess and Back in Black, then (the worst thing to happen in a spidey comic so far) One More Day and now they are either going to kill him, or more likely (going by the phrasing in the advert) make him lose his powers.
Not to mention actually killing Ultimate Peter.
It seems that as far as Spidey is concerned Marvel seems set on totally and utterly ******* me off with its damn awful, stupid, half-assed crappy ideas![]()
Say uh, did anyone read Watchmen as a kid? i did when i was 5 when it came out and it was nothing like i ever read in comics as those with Tales of Terror and Swamp Thing were the first mature readers comics i've read and my parents had no problem of me reading comics aimed at mature readers, it dazzled me and opened my imagination to new heights. I bought the graphic novel tradepaperback when i was 14 and it blew me away even more.
