the other ben and i have been working ALOT since summer started. so we havent had as much time to hack away at this project for the last week or so. but we have some full days planned. so im hoping to have some exciting updates for people soon!
ive been busy doing some comic scripts for MARVEL! its nuts. my stuff got in front of them, and they liked it, so they sent me an xforce and an xmen script to test me out, im about halfway done the xmen one now. wish me luck.

Hey Ben, I know you have been busy and for really good reasons, but have you figured out what kind of material and method you are going to make the molded cast out of?

On another note, I need to make a mold and make a product out of hard translucent green plastic, what kind mold and plastic would be the best for it?

hey, yeah we are thinking of going with resin and paperpulp, rather than resin and fiberglass.
i think we are the first people to do this! haha the pulp works wonders building up the walls, rather than the thin fiberflass.

here is an example, we did a test on another diorama i am making for a hot toys whiplash and iron man.

this is boat resin, strong stuff. and rather than using fiberglass i used paper pulp mixed into the resin, this was useful in filling the tire portion of the mold and building up the shallow walls along the edge, with fiberglass this could take many many coats, and still be too thin.

quickly sprayed black.

here is what the underside looks like. you can see its like a deadly oatmeal, haha but very useful.

and here is what the finished base will look like.

this was before the car parts.

as far as your second question....

i would definatly buy your mold making materials and plastics from smooth on, i think they are the best.
as far as what kind? its expensive but for the mold silicone rubber is the best, and maybe use this boat resin, or plaster to make the mother mold shell, to keep its shade.
casting plastic, i would just get whatever you can find that cures clear, there are a few different kinds on smooth ons website, but i havent done alot of clear before, i do know that it tends to be more brittle, so beware of that.
and dont forget the mold release!
