I do agree about the colour.
I do agree about the colour.
Darker green definitely!! I always imagined the castle as being dark stone covered with lichens and a verdigris of mosses.
Posing my figures doesn't mean I'm playing with them!
While Personally I'd prefer a Darker Green, that green kinda matches the Vintage Castle's green!
Toyguru, read this: The Rebellion needs Glimmer!! I NEED Glimmer!! Pretty Please?
the photos don't really show EXACTLY how it is. we have a pretty hard light on the fortress. in person its a little darker, and honestly REALLY matches the original. what you see in other peoples customs is a dark, even BLACK dry brushing, which we won't be doing. toys don't come that way. no offense to other customizers, by the way the above castle looks great, good job, but i don't understand when people just swipe black over a figure, thats not how they come on the shelves, and doest read like shadow, it looks more like it was in an oil spill.
example...
the good news is, anyone else can do that later. we want to let the sculpt speak for itself, rather than just filling it with black.
but again, like i said, the photos don't really do the color justice, its quite different, and i don't think anyone will eb disappointed seeing it in person. TRUST ME. haha
great work Kendor.

here is an old photo of it in natural light, showing the color a little better, before we covered it in rubber.
**
some other older ones ( note the bridge is unpainted. ) we didn't post these because we thought it was poor lighting, and they are somewhat out of focus, but again, for color purposes they are more accurate.

Hi,
Any news or updates after tge holidays?
Cheers,
Johan
I can imagine, I know my friend Marty (THEGODBEAST here on the org) has to do all his casting indoors during the winter and he works specifically on smaller scale 3-5" action figure types. So doing this mammoth beast of a cast/mold is probably highly dependent on it being warm/good conditions for outside or a lot of free space with ventilation inside.

Hey guys,
I figure we owe you guys a little heads up on progress. Space is indeed the issue right now. As it's been said, our resin doesn't kick unless it's about 60 degrees, and the stuff is too vaporous to use indoors. So that has been a ******. Good news is Ben and I have planned out a temporary studio space so that we can pump out the first several casts this winter. I've started renovating an unused spaced in the back of my apartment building into an insulated/vented workshop. It will be a small space given the size of the Fortress, but it's just what we need until April or so when we can begin working in the open air again. Expect more frequent updates soon, now that this renovation project is underway.
My GF has some new (well, new oldish) pics of both of us working on the Fortress. They give a great impression of the scale of this thing, and it's cool to have both creators in the same shot. One of us will post those soon.
Happy New Year,
Ben

yeah it has been crazy cold here, around 20 degrees, sometimes colder. the resin literally does nothing at this temp. its like trying to cast with water, except that might go quicker because the water would freeze, haha.
while the forums were down i posted a photo to Facebook showing ben (outforjustice) working on the fortress, prepping it for the mold. it really shows the epic scale!
for those of you who sent me PM's ill be getting back to you soon. thanks!
so where in the he-man is everyone? always clamoring for updates and pics and thennnnn... crickets...![]()
