Vintage toy, but with the legs separated.
Mantenna should be as Vintage as possible!
Mantenna should match the staction as close as possible!
Mantenna should be as Filmation as possible!
Mantenna should be a mix of all the best attributes!

How would you want Mantenna to be represented in Classics?
Should he be like the vintage Mantenna, with both of his legs fused together, white boodshot eyes and a thick head and neck or should Mantenna be like the staction, where he has all four individual legs, yellow eyes, slighter build and ?
Or perhaps Mantenna should be Filmation, akin to Queen Marlena and Shadow Beast, since Mattel owns the character. Maybe yet, Mantenna could be a mix of all the best attributes (which IMO is arguably the staction; the staction has a slight build and even has the yellow Filmation eyes.) making the ultimate version.
Discuss!

Vintage toy, but with the legs separated.
I'd like a good mix of everything:
Filmation - love the collar and the lighter color inside the ears
Staction - seperated legs, thinner body, more alien-like head, nicer eyes
Figure - larger fins on the arms/legs, eye sockets, 2nd set of eyes/head
Hybrid - I like both sets of chest armor (staction/toy), would love a hybrid of both.

as a kid i never understood why his legs were like that. i wanted four legs.
so he wasnt well liked.
the 200x on the other hand was perfect.
mantenna must have the four separate legs!
I went with Filmation. His legs are separate and he doesn't have bloodshot eyes or Tex Avery eyes. I also like that the added detail is fur on him rather than the spikes on the staction. Why did the 4H feel the need to add fins and/or spikes to practically every charcter they redesigned?
what a weird toy...
Really, I loved Mantenna as a kid, simple but cool play feature, and that fist that was ready to punch someone. But wow, that's a weird looking toy!

Mantenna should match the staction as close as possible with the best features from the others where deemed necessary.
I think the staction's a really good update to the vintage toy. =)
Usually I lead towards the classic look for everything, but Mantenna's is a case where I think it ain't ever going to get any better than that NECA staction... so I'm hoping the 4H go staction-influenced all the way for Mantenna's MOTUC incarnation! Wonder what his second accessory would be?
I voted vintage. I agree with legs seperated. Frankly maybe I should have voted mix, but...
Since I understand what Toyguru means when he says 200x is classic in a ...new interpritation, I have no doubt that the Mantenna will be like the 200x staction in that it will be better detail.
But I hope the vintage attributes in some ways stick, like the eyes. The yellow are cool, but give me bloodshot white. I'll be happy with yellow, but I prefer white.
And since the 4H sculpted the 200x, I'm sure the supiriour sculpt of the Staction will hold over. It's really just the vintage with better sculpting like Toyguru says. Loose the specific details like his blue armoursuit or whatever like all the 200x got, it'll just be smooth skin or whatever, but the details will be more 3d than the kinda flat vintage.
But yeah, the legs need out, however they can do that to make it good.
The staction is basically the vintage with amped up sculpting with minimal "reinvention".
For instance the toys mouth is terribly exicuted, but we get what it is. So the mouth area on the Staction is reasonably what we'd get in the Classics line, because it's the same "style" but the detail sculpt quality requires modern sensibilities, not just an "asterix" in plastic. Heheh.
Frankly the Mantenna design is solid and has been followed pretty closely through all incarnations, all the right "notes" have been hit. But the original toy's sculpting was pretty base relief poor. so the Classics will be great.
Just dont give him cartoon lips.
This. I feel that almost entirely the staction is just that. A well sculpted detail version of the original.
Oh sure you can argue fin size, ect. But the details are the same. So go for staction? sure. But toned down a bit, "Classicized" because the staction is already almost exactly what the Classics version would be.
It's very much just an update to the vintage toy. Mantenna in alot of ways was one of the worst sculpts in the old line, though he was always basically my favorite HOrdesman, next to Modulock, who I barely thought of as Horde anyway.
But again, the details are all the same really, it's just the quality of exicution.
Where I draw the line on "Give me Staction" is because I dont care about the specific measurements, the exact lenght or with or positing. Some people get so wrapped up in diameters and angles.
I trust them to sculpt a wonderful figure that looks right even if the exact millimeter isnt met or the particular angle of a fin is off. The build of the body is "too thick" or "not spindly enough. Give me a He-Man Classics figure. the 200x already exists.
BUt again, I'll bet especially in Mantenna's case, 200x staction is a indication of how good the Classics will look, in it's own way.

Nice post. The Staction is indeed the vintage figure without the 80's limitations.
However, the worry is that the 4H can be too slavish to the original design. Vintage Mantenna as a figure had his design compromised for action features and vehicle play. The Classics version could resurrect those same compromises that the 4H originally fixed, all over again. Since "the discussions for Mantenna have not taken place yet", there is still time to let Mattel and the 4H know for certain which direction to take the design.
I'd be happy if they mixed it up for Mantenna.
Heaven forbid we get an 80s Mantenna. After Clawful and Leech I fear a Mantenna coming in classics with a thick neck, big muscley arms and his legs stuck together with those plain boring feet. Probably with a pointless level sculpted into his back too.

isn't the Staction a mix of Vintage toy and Filmation?
Toyguru, read this: The Rebellion needs Glimmer!! I NEED Glimmer!! Pretty Please?
Yes, it is.
The staction has the original toy's attributes in greater detail and without the 80's figure limitations from action features, vehicle access, painting and sculpt, but also has the Filmation thinner build, similar color scheme and yellow eyes.
I guess you could argue that the staction IS already a mix of Mantenna's best elements.
I remembered an old poll on Matty's forums regarding Mantenna 4 separate legs kicked the tail out of the 2 fused legs... Hopefully TG, the 4H and everyone involved with the Mantenna making process will get the message that most people want a truly four legged Mantenna and make it happen! THIS is the big issue for Mantenna. (everything else both Vintage and staction are very similar...)*
*Yes the eyes are the other big difference.

i agree Mantenna. should be mixed up by the two styles they both where great for Mantenna. at the time but its 2011 lets see what can be done as fare as improvements for a already great charcator!
Mix the best parts! He must have four separate legs, though!
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti
Jungle Attack He-Man in Classics!
Chances are it's going to be an update of the vintage toy. Probably an 85% chance of that. I'd be okay with that.
