I speak for all fans when I say.... love this set!
Dan's back with a new review! This time he takes a look at Laser Power He-Man VS Laser Light Skeletor from MattyCollector. Check it out!
This has been my most anticipated video review over the last several years. I can't express enough how stoked I am to finally be getting these figures. I'm not bothered by the limited articulation in Skeletor one bit. My minor nitpick with He-Man is I would have preferred the arm armor to have been more secure, like Man at Arms. And I would have loved a more Dolph Lundgren inspired face but I understand why they didn't go there.
On a side note, I have to eat my words. Because years ago, I thought if they ever did Laser Power He-Man he'd consist of new armor over top of a standard buck with NA He-Man shorts, Hordak gloves, He-Ro boots, and a standard He-Man head. I thought Laser Light Skeletor would just be NA Skeletor with a new head and chest armor. I never imagined we'd get so many newly sculpted parts for these figures.

I'm glad the action feature was incorporated. If these didn't light up, they just wouldn't be anything special imo. After being pretty let down by Flying Fists He-Man, it was nice to have some fun with the light up features on this set. :-)
Great video Dan. I agree with you, would have been cool for a cloth cape on Skelly. Otherwise, great looking figures!
Great review, Dan! It's pretty cool how they saved these guys for last, just like for the original line. Only this time, everyone has a chance at getting them!
Excellent review showcasing all the features of these figures! Great set too. Love He-Man's head sculpt. I even like Skeletor's massive, grody head sculpt. As Dan said, perfect bridge between vintage and NA.
Great way to end the line and end 2015!
I gotta say, these guys were incredibly fun to photograph!
Can't say I'm very interested in these figures. Not a fan of variants in general unless they were pretty significant such as NA. These don't work as a classic looking He-man and Skelly or NA so are a bit pointless for me.
Skeletor does look cool with his eyes lit up though.
I'm pretty impressed with these two figures, I have to say
I like the set in theory... The execution is where I LOATHE them.
Articulation could have been preserved on Skeletor AND Keep the action feature intact. It would have required SOME mild changes to the way the right arms are made in MOTUC, but it was possible (just not as cheap as Mattel would have liked)
The head could have still be made on a sort of balljoint AND keep the light up feature. (Think something similar to the Hasbro, Playmates TMNT, or Bandai Thundercats Head Ball joints)
The Technology to make SMALLER Light up features and batteries is there. This could have meant slightly smaller backpacks for them.
I'm let down by the light up features being so cumbersome.
Easiest and cheapest solution was GITD Plastic... Shame it wasn't used.
FINALLY!! GLIMMER IS IN MY SHELF!! Crita is coming... Now I NEED SONGSTER! The Awesometastic Bard!
I just think this set is one that you either like or don't depending on what you prefer in your toys.
I'm no figure engineer, so I really can't speak as to IF these could have been done with more articulation and still maintained the light up features. I assume they could have made the features smaller, but you mentioned cost and I can almost guarantee that's what it all boils down to. But again, I know so very little about that side of the industry, so it's hard for me to say for sure if it could be done or not. And even if it could, cost is always the key.
Some people love articulation and would be bothered by these, which is totally fine. I am someone who doesn't need a lot of articulation in my toys, especially when the purpose of the toys is a specific action feature, like these. My personal preference here is that these had to have the lights. GITD plastic would not have cut it for me. That would have been just as disappointing as Flying Fists He-Man not having vac metal armor or anything special about him at all. These would have been a major let down to me if they went that route.
But again, I am one man with my own personal opinion. So I can absolutely see the arguments from both sides of the coin on this one.
I wish they'd made a set without the light up gimmick too. It looks neat, but the figures are too clunky to really use, IMO.
I always liked part of the designs for these (giant battery elements notwithstanding) and would have loved to see what they could do making them into a traditional MOTUC figure.

Awesome! I may buy these. What can you tell us about the mini comic stories?
Do these figures come packed with the batteries already inside the toys? If so, could be problematic for MIB collectors
My top 10 characters: 10/Filmation Ram Man, 9/Uncle Montork & Dree-Elle, 8/Kothos, 7/Filmation Mer-Man, 6/Granita, 5/Filmation Leech, 4/Filmation Tung Lashor, 3/Twiggets (Sprag, Sprocker and Spritina), 2/Hunga the Harpy, 1/Dylamug.
I like that Laser Power He-mans head just as much as the Snake Armor He-man head. Really happy they didn't stick with the standard He-man head on these Figures.
ABC GIANTS, 200x Evil-lyn, 200x Sorceress, MYP Captain Miro, Hawke/Delora, Queen Andreeno, Captain Randor, 200x Tri-Klops, 200x Squeeeze head.
It may be published somewhere already, but what will this two-pack cost?

Great review, Dan! Makes me even more excited for the figures. Just with you had the originals for comparison time .
Looks like He-Man has NA He-Man style wrist hinges, is that right or am I seeing things?
They're really cool and I can't wait to get them. I do hope we get future Weapons Paks in the future and can include Laser Power He-Man's sword (regular sized, like the prototype...but not attached to a cord) and his harness, not attached to the backpack. That way, we would have the option to remove his action figure and have him more poseable. It might be cool to get Laser Light Skeletor's head without the feature, so we could put it on other Skeletor figures. That head is SUPER creepy! Depending on how it looks, I might want Skeletor's hood in brown for Eldor, since it seems like it has a snug fit on the top of the head. They did a fantastic job on the hood!
The one thing I'm confused about...is WHY would Mattel made Skeletor's cape with that ENORMOUS hole in it to accommodate the equally enormous backpack? The Four Horsemen had it fully sculpted and draped OVER the backpack, as can be seen on the prototype on the back. That was way, WAY better! I don't understand why they ruined it's re-usability. That would look so cool on all the other Skeletor's.
While I am bummed out about Skeletor's lack of articulation, I do agree going with the light-up features was the right way to go. The limited articulation is an unfortunate compromise, but they did a good job with it. I'm very surprised at how LARGE the backpacks are still. I figured they were using AA batteries because of their size until I heard Dan say button cell. The only thing I can think of is cost. I mean, they have full video camera's in Barbie's chest with all the circuitry in her stomach, so the massive backpacks did take me aback. lol
EDIT: Looking at the cardback again...I just realized how AMAZING Laser Power He-Man is going to look with NA She-Ra!
