'Vampire' is not my favorite book, but it's well-done and the creators seem to be putting in a lot of effort, which can't be said for so many other books in the DC New 52.
If I have the time, maybe I'll give it another shot when it comes out in paperback, but right now, Swamp Thing, Justice League Dark, Demon Knights, Detective Comics, Wonder Woman, All-Star Western, Voodoo, Grifter (well, for maybe only 2 more issues), Justice League, Superman, Action Comics, and New Guardians are the only ones I am still reading. Most of the other comics I have either dropped because they sucked or just because I cannot afford 30 comics a month, nor do I have the time to read them. It is a shame because Blue Beetle, Nightwing, and JLI were pretty interesting.
Can someone PM me the US number for Matty? I want to talk to someone who might has a clue of what is going on.

I'm not crazy about the new take on Ollie, for one, and I miss the JL-relationships. Any word on where the Atom is? And has the JSA been completely negated now?
I think it's both deliberate AND sloppy. DC wanted changes, but they aren't consistent.

DC wanted to address problems that the characters have always had, such as Superman and Wonder Woman being unapproachable paragons and ideals rather than having personalities or costumes such as Superman's underwear or Wonder Woman's iconic costume being so iconic that the sex industry uses it. Superman seems pretty Marvel-like now and Wonder Woman is more warrior-like and is capable of killing her enemies. That explains the main heroes.

The JSA is said to exist on another earth now. They are supposed to be getting a mini-series soon.

DC took a ton of heat over killing Choi, one of their few ethnic leads. Also, Ryan Choi was the version used on The Brave & The Bold so he's more familiar to folks outside of comics. (Not sure how large an audience that show had, though, to be honest.)

I think everyone's in the same boat. Plus, my editor wants me to cover more Marvel books, so I've just been gradually whittling away at what I read. I think I'm down to:
Justice League (not digging it, but it's the flagship book)
    JLI
    JLD
    Animal Man
    Aquaman
    Wonder Woman
    Batwoman
    Batman
    Savage Hawkman (for now)
    Batwing
    Birds of Prey
    Action
    Demon Knights
    Frankenstein
    I, Vampire

I just decided to cut Superman, Superboy, Supergirl and Teen Titans. A couple more of mine are slightly on the bubble, but I have to do at least five comic reviews a week, so we'll see. With Vampire and Batwing, those are underdog books, so I keep reviewing them because they need the help. There are so many much worse books that are outselling them, it's a shame.

Oh yeah, I forgot about Batwing. I buy that too right now, as it has been surprisingly good. Again though, I'm going to drop it for monetary reasons.

    My books:

    Justice League
    Action Comics
    Superman
    Batman
    The Dark Knight
    Catwoman
    Batgirl
    Wonder Woman
    Green Lantern
    Green Lantern Corps
    Aquaman
    Red Hood and the Outlaws
    Teen Titans
    Demon Knights
    Captain Atom

DC is better than Marvel IMO. I started dropping a bunch of Marvel titles because I was curious about DC books, including long mainstays the X-books (the only exceptions are X-Factor and X-Force).

I have also dropped Superboy and Supergirl. More because while I can deal with decompressed storytelling, both these stories still feel like they haven't gone anywhere. Also went ahead and dropped JLI, the last issue just didn't go over with me.

    So I am down to
    Action Comics
    Batman
    Batgirl
    Demon Knights
    Green Lantern
    Green Lantern Corps
    New Guardians
    Justice League Dark
Red Lantern (more to keep up with the Green Lantern Mythos)
    Wonder Woman

Red Lantern and New Guardians feel more like miniseries than ongoing.

Well, the dust has settled with DC's New 52 titles, and the ones I am still buying and enjoying are:

    Batgirl
    Animal Man
    Nightwing
    Aquaman
    Swamp Thing
    Birds of Prey

I had dropped all DC books months before the relaunch, and I am happy I have found some DC stuff I like again!

Of those of you who've read JLA #3, what did you think of Superman ripping apart Parademons? Is this similar to when he killed Aliens in the Pre-Flashpoint DCU, a change for the better since now he kills, or is this a step down for the world's "first" superhero?

While I'm not a fan of killing off characters in general, where were the people upset with Ryan's death when he headlined a book? I bought every issue of his Atom comic, but I was one of the few. It reminds me of when some people got upset when Wonder Woman was put through changes(either her New 52 book or when JMS started writing her) but weren't even buying her book in the first place.

Who cares, the Parademons are mindless drones anyway. They are there to be killed.

I think nuSuperman kills monsters or beasts. Even mindless drones. He won't kill people though.

Wonder Woman fans squabble as much as MOTUC fans over which Diana is the best. The nuDiana is really popular now, but some of the old fans like the the last version of WW.

insurance agencies and funders, just like they care about when Superman knocks a building over fighting some suped up being that needs to be hit that hard.

So Lex Luthor's rival just needs to dress him up in a lead mook suit so Superman can kill him off for good.

I kind of don't care, except it is more inline with DCs death sales mentality. I still think DC is misreading the success of their current books though, the costume changes, the teen rating, aren't whats selling these books. Pseudo reboot helps, but it's the publicity they have finally started putting into it. Since the new 52 started I have seen actual TV spots for comics, sure not many for individual titles but still.

Here's what I am picking up:

    Justice League
    Batgirl
    Green Arrow
    Hawk and Dove
    Justice League International
    Batman and Robin
    Batwoman
    Green Lantern
    Batman
    Birds of Prey
    Green Lantern Corps
    Nightwing
    Red Hood and the Outlaws
    Supergirl
    Wonder Woman
    Aquaman
    Batman: The Dark Knight
    The Flash
    Green Lantern: New Guardians
    Superman

A few titles have been kind of slow, but I've mostly enjoyed what I've seen so far. I am pretty much new to the DC Universe, outside of the animated shows, so I did not mind the reboot.

    My books:

    ACTION
    ALL-STAR WESTERN
    ANIMAL MAN
    AQUAMAN
    BATGIRL
    BATMAN
    I, VAMPIRE
    JUSTICE LEAGUE DARK
    SWAMP THING
    WONDER WOMAN

There are a few others I'm still reading, but they're "bottom of the pile" type of books that I may or may not get to.

I like Balent's art and was getting that book for awhile, but I just had to drop it when every issue felt the same and all subtlety in terms of "cheesecake" was dropped in favor of wiccan porn.

I haven't been buying any G.I. Joe comics for the past few months. I'm going to wait to see who the "new" Cobra Commander is next month before I decide if I'm getting rid of my IDW Joe comics or not. Between G.I. Joe, TMNT, and Jurassic Park, I'm not a fan of IDW's licensed books these days(I think Dark Horse &, to a lesser extent, Dynamite do a better job). Although the new Ghostbusters book is pretty good.

    Sorry. Back to New 52.

Granted, this is a "new" DCU, but there have been Parademons who have talked before. I wouldn't automatically call them "mindless drones"(although I know you were just repeating what someone else said). I find it funny that Superman draws the line at killing based on the ability of speech. Who's to say these animals/beasts/monsters aren't extremely intelligent otherwise? Would he have no problem killing a dolphin? They don't speak using words but are far from stupid. What about a human who is brain damaged to the point that they are barely functional?

I have no problem with people not liking and/or getting upset about storylines or changes made to comic book characters(I dropped all Marvel comics after over 20 years of reading them thanks to problems like that). I just can't stand people who come out of the woodwork when they were either "fairweather" fans to begin with or just jumping on a bandwagon when they have next to nothiing invested in a character. There were even people complaining back when Superman died who had never read a comic let alone a Superman comic.

The beginning. It's the second part of a two parter. She's captured by a warrior mermaid and disarmed of her sword and magic armor. Crabs, sharks, eels and other hazards of the sea are attacking her as she's strung up. But she gets her "armor" back on in the middle of the book after she survives those assaults.

The only DC book I picked up was THUNDER Agents. I'm reviewing it for my website, so no further comment.

I didn't even notice Supes tearing apart Parademons! But I agree with MegaGearMax, these are monsters, so they are free reign.

DC Comics Unit Share Down 22% in November, But Continues to Lead Comics Market

The Diamond Comics Distributors numbers are out for comic book sales in November 2011, and while DC Comics maintained the lead they earned with their massive new 52 relaunch in September, that lead has now diminished significantly. DC dropped 18% in dollar share and 22% in unit share from last month, a high point where DC had seen a huge boost from the New 52 and lead Marvel Comics in unit share nearly 51% to 30%.

Grant Morrison's Wonder Woman is a whole different comic, supposedly separate from the monthly Wonder woman comic. I've heard rumors of 2012 some time. I can't believe I'm actually looking forward to a Grant Morrison Wonder Woman comic - that's what the long period of less-than-great on the monthly has reduced me to.

Here are the DC articles I wrote this week:
    Batgirl
    The Ray
    Batwoman
    Demon Knights
Plus I wrote a couple of additional pieces:
A very short piece: Female Super Heroes Battle Breast Cancer
And a much longer piece: A Look At Catwoman Throughout The Years (I didn't come up with that name.) It's an examination of all the actresses who have played her both in live action and animation, so even Melendy Britt is included.

Supposedly, he's been doing a lot of research on feminism and her original Marston comic book issues. Morrison does get a bit to obtuse for my tastes often, but I have to admit that his Action Comics run has not been a complete disaster. Though it does still have the problem I have with much of his work starting in the second issue, where scenes transition very awkwardly and confusingly. That's the biggest problem I have with much of his product, the "rhythm" of his stories are very "off" to me.
