Whatever it is, it's a mess for sure.
Yeah, I never really thought it was.
And that's good and bad for me.
Good because I don't really want to start over.
Bad because that makes it a marketing stunt.
Oh well, we'll wait and see.
Ultimately, if there are good comics coming out of it, I don't care what it's called/numbered.

Yeah its a reboot and its not, I assume whatever the conclusion of Flashpoint is that it will cause this "rebirth" and that is how they will keep the universes going without having to just end them and say "we are starting all over"

Maybe they are going for the hipster look? Wait is Kyle going to have a mask that looks like glasses without the lenses?

Four Lantern titles:
Green Lantern: starring Hal Jordan, by Johns, Mahnke, and Alamy
Green Lantern Corps: starring Guy Gardner and John Stewart, by Tomasi, Pasarin, and Hanna
Green Lantern: New Guardians: starring Kyle Rayner and (presumably) six to seven other colored Lanterns, by Bedard, Kirkham, and Batt
Red Lanterns: by Peter Milligan, Ed Benes, and Rob Hunter
I'm a HUGE DCAU fan, heck just look at my avatar, but I'd disagree.
It's far from "the most celebrated."
I'm all for streamlining the DCU is it gets rid of cluder but DC all ready tried this with the All Star books and failed.
Well thankfully Tomasi is still on GLC.

Mars needs women...angry red women.
I have been reading Justice Society for a few years now. I can't think how they will reboot characters that are 70 years old.![]()
Please watch my videos!

What the hell is Ed Benes doing on a Red Lantern title?
Let's do a checklist.
I'm basing this list off of offical announcements . No probables. no rumored, most likelies or I was reading over at.......
JLA
Wonder Woman
Aquaman
Flash
Fury of Firestorm
Hawkman
Green Arrow
JLI
Mr Terrific
Captain Atom
DC Universe Presents
GL
GL Corps
GL:The New Guardians
Red Lanterns
At the time of this post that is 15 of the 52. JLA will kick things off by going first on August 31. With the others coming out in September. Maybe even October.
I am curious as to what the others are. Specifically the ones NOT rumored.
And when we'll the entire 52. later this month (June) or July. I doubt any later.
My last count was 22. They haven't released the detailed solicits for them, but they did say they were coming:
JSA
Teen Titans
Birds of Prey
Nightwing
Batgirl
Action
Detective
As far as assumptions, I would imagine Batman and Superman would have their own books in addition to Action and Detective. Batwoman's book, as of last report, is still on its way, although I'm not sure if it'll be included with this launch or if it's going to have to be retooled. Birds of Prey won't be written by Gail Simone and I imagine the reason it hasn't been solicited is because they don't want to ruin the surprise (that everyone already knows about) of Barbara Gordon returning as Batgirl. (If she's even part of Birds after this point.) I also read (maybe on this thread?) that Wally West will be headlining a book called Speed Force.
Their big claim at diversity seems to be falling short. If you count Batgirl, that makes only two books starring solo females. Mr. Terrific is the only person of color starring in his own book. Jason Rusch and John Stewart are sharing their titles with Caucasian partners. And honestly as far as simply unique characters, that's FOUR Green Lantern titles alone. I know Powergirl's sales dropped after Palmiotti/Grey/Conner left it. I don't know how Zatanna was doing. I would assume Supergirl will get her own book, though, so that's at least one that I would think that's coming. Hopefully maybe Black Lightning or Steel or maybe even Vixen could get their own series.
Oh and I just realized, this probably means a 5,037th reboot for Legion of Super Heroes.

ZING!!!!!!!!!!
I was thinking the same thing.
Benes IMO is just a modern version of Jim Lee. Beautiful splash pages but he has no storytelling talent in his art.
DC should put him on Catwoman. He loves to drawn voluptuous women anyways. It worked for Jim Balent in the 90's.![]()
Mars needs women...angry red women.
This is very exciting to me! Green Lantern is one of the few DC books I've picked up now and again (the other being Legion of Superheroes, but I gave up on that after the endless reboots) and Kyle was "my" Green Lantern. I've nothing against Hal Jordan, but I'm glad they are keeping him around.
According to the DC blog, Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo are on Batman #1, Tony Daniels is taking over Detective Comics with #1, and Bruce is back to being the only character called Batman.
Very happy that Snyder is on a Bat book. He might be the best kept secret at DC right now. Really good writer. Less excited about Tony Daniel.
Also of note: Damien Wayne is Robin in the Batman & Robin book. Bruce & Damien as father-son dynamic duo.
I'm happy about this. I really like Damien as Robin, although I'll miss his dynamic with Grayson. And speaking of Grayson, I'd assume this is him on the cover of Nightwing #1:
And the Batman #1 cover:
Detective, Catwoman and Swamp Thing covers are floating around as well.
And it does look like Barbara Gordon is Batgirl again:

Yeah, I am on the fence about the Batman stuff.
I've been following Morrison's Batman work since he came on board....
waiting to see what his involvement will be before deciding, but might be in for Snyder's Batman.
Also, Jeff Lemire on Animal Man has my interest.
The September solicitations should be out next Monday, the 13th if I recall correctly.
You should have the whole list then.

New Birds of Prey
And updates on all the women of Gotham CityBirds of Prey is taking on a bit of a change, however. Now billed as "Gotham City's covert ops team, taking down the villains other heroes can't touch," the Birds will be handled by acclaimed novelist and comics scribe Duane Swierczynski and artist Jesus Saiz.

Catwoman #1 will be written by Judd Winick with art from Guillem March. DC's description of the series reads, "Meet Catwoman. She's addicted to the night. Addicted to shiny objects. Addicted to Batman. Most of all, Catwoman is addicted to danger. She can't help herself, and the truth is – she doesn't want to. She's good at being bad, and very bad at being good."![]()

Guillem March is very talented, but I always feel a bit dirty looking at his art. He really should be doing European porn comics in the vein of Milo Manara.
That Birds of Prey cover is awful. Black Canary and Poison Ivy I think. Maybe Katana in a new costume? And I'd guess the 4th girl is Rose & Thorn.
Also Gail confirms Barbara is Batgirl:
http://dcu.blog.dccomics.com/2011/06...rn-to-batgirl/
And Grayson is Nightwing. Jason Todd gets his own book: Red Hood and The Outsiders with Arsenal and Starfire. (It looks like Roy has both his arms. Man, I hope that whole Rise of Arsenal POS is forgotten forever - maybe the worst cominc of the past 5 years).

Sigh. The autofilter starred out Grayson's first name in the link. If you want to see the cover, just replace the 4 stars with his first name...

I'm liking the look of Nightwing. His costume looks like a combo of Grayson Batman, Batman Beyond and Nightwing. As for Birds of Prey, I'm one of those people who only reads Pirds of Prey if Benes is doing the artwork. It does look interesting nonetheless.
A journey that began long ago in a place neither near nor far…
A story of heroes, passed down through the ages…
Until now.
This is our story. These are our heroes…
Yeah, I don't understand how/why they are revamping all the ladies costumes to be less revealing,
but that Catwoman pic is ok.
Black Canary needs pants under her fishnets and Poison Ivy has to wear a body suit,
but it's fine if Catwoman's cleavage is completely exposed.![]()

So if Grayson is Nightwing and Damien is robin in Batman & Robin, what is happening to Tim? Is he disappearing?
I see this cover being homaged in a year's time. BC's gimmick doesn't work with spandex.
So far, the coolest costumes are Nightwing and Green Arrow.
