    So...Who's the 100th MOTUC Figure?

While listening to the latest episode of the Roast Gooble Dinner, Toyguru mentioned that the 100th MOTUC figure is coming up soon! He estimated it would be in August, which would make it Castaspella or Shokoti, but did add that it all kinda depends on how you count the earlier releases. For example, does Battle Cat count as a figure? Do 2-packs count as single releases as two figures? Do variants count?

Personally, I thought we already hit this milestone but I'm curious: Who do you consider to be the 100th figure?

Maybe it is the 100th SKU? Possibly the SDCC figure that will debut in April

By my count we reached the 100th figure last year with VYkron! The original He-man was the big 1-0-0!
Indeed by my count, Vykron was the 99th - 101st figure.

My 100 is counting all variants and Masters figures from the MOTUC vs DC 2 packs. MOTUC 2 paks (i.e. Mo-Larr, Palace Guards, Snake Men, Orko and Adam are counted as two, despite the Snakes and Guards having an argument for 4 given the different heads).

He-Ro is counted twice (SDCC and regular) despite the different gems as he was only offered once in each form. Moss Man on the other hand was marketed separately for flocked and non-flocked so is counted twice (as is Queen/Captain Marlena and Vykron). The Prince Adam and Cringer accessories are counted only once. I have not counted Zoar, Screeech or Glory Bird but the 'beasts' and giants are counted as figures. Wind Raider is not counted.

The He-Man and Skeletor re-freshes are not counted separately, despite Skeletor's bio being fixed on the re-release. In fact, I have not counted any of the re-releases.

    Here is my list:

    2008

    1. King Grayskull - SDCC

Great way of listing the releases. Just for the sake of completeness, the most expansive way to do list this would place Zoar, Skreech, Glory Bird, and both Sorceress Zoar forms as separate figures (since the argument can be made that the birds are just as much "accessories" as Prince Adam and Cringer are), bringing the total up to 144:

    16 & 17. Teela & Zoar
    ...
    31 & 32. Evil Lyn & Skreech
    ...
    87. Glory Bird
    ...
    88. & 89. Sorceress & Zoar
    ...
    115. Temple of Darkness Zoar (Great Unrest Weapons Pak 3)

Conversely, the most restrictive way to recon the numbers would to count single box sets as only one release, and count deco changes as only a single figure with variants. Additionally, Motuc vs DCUC , 30th Anniversary, and Club Filmation figures could be considered as separate lines and omitted from the totals. Considered this way, the list would look like this:

    1. King Grayskull & variants - SDCC
    2. He-Man
    3. Beast Man

My guess is Toyguru is using a method very similar to this, if he's considering the 100th figure to come out in August. Maybe he's planning to promote the SDCC exclusive as the 100th figure.

    100th MOTUC Figure...

This is the list I came up with. I excluded the first King Grayskull because I personally feel he is a precursor to the line rather than a 'release' since He-Man launched the line - but this is just my personal preference. I also only included 6" figures (with the exception of Orko). I knew I wanted to exclude beasts but went back and forth on the giants... But I ultimately excluded them. In terms of the Snake Men and Palace guard sets I counted them each as one figure. But the distinct character sets (Star Sisters and Fighting Foe Men) I counted individually. Also I counted Mo-Larr as one figure since Skeletor was previously released. In terms of Prince Adam I went back and forth but since he was treated as an accessory I left him off - but he can be interchanged with Orko for the people who don't count Orko as a full figure. This is just the way I see it and I know it may not be correct.

When I plotted it all out the 100th could be the SDCC Exclusive - if you count the Snake Men and Palace Guards as two figures each it could become NA He-Man.

The 100th individual figure / packaged look, no variants of said figure like 1 He-Ro (not all the gem versions from SDCC & Matty), 1 2008 KingGrayskull not 3....I came up with Jitsu.

I count Both Palace Guards, both Snake Men, all 3 Star Sisters, Mo-Larr Skeletor and Mo-Larr all separately for 9 individual figures.

I count all the contained variants of SDCC Grayskull, Moss Man, He-Ro & Orko, as 1 figure each.

I'm going to go over my list again, but oddly, I came up with King He-Man, which would of course be fitting.

    I don't count the silver She-Ra since she's not really a figure. She's a statue glued to a stand.

Obviously if you count every individualy released figure period....you are much further back in the line-up. (But not counting Adam, or Cringer twice).

    Mekaneck....

yeah i wouldn't count variants either.

Really the actual 100th figure would have come out last year and they should have done publicity since it was MOTUs 30th anniversary.

However, I bet they will have SDCC be the 100th figure somehow. It makes sense from a publicity standpoint.
I want NA Skeletor and Rio Blast and I want them now!

I counted the released variants, such as TP He-Man & DB Skeletor, but didn't count say the 3 2008 King Grayskulls, the 6 He-Ros....I only counted each character there as one figure each. And I arrived at Meckaneck, or DB Skeletor, whichever you prefer since they both came out the same month, I just count the regular figure before I count the variant from the same month.

Officially I bet Mattel will skip the DC two packs, and use only one of the remaining multi packs (Mo-Larr, Palace Guards, Star Sisters, Snakemen, Vykron, Orko, Marlena etc) just because of one upc code per package. I may be wrong. I have been before HAHA! But a true listing would indeed include all of them, though I do agree the multiple He-Ro's shouldn't be included based on weapon inclusion, though a case could be made for different heads in the case of someone like Kronis.....idk this is pretty fun and interesting.

The 100th figure should be industry changing, unless we're way past 100 already.

I haven't done the math to figure out who it would be, but as far as who I would and would not count is concerned:

I would not count the DCU 2-Packs at TRU since those are really a different line.
I wouldn't count beasts like Battle Cat.
I wouldn't count variants that are part of the same release like Bronze/Ghost King Grayskull or clear vs non clear Orko (I guess I would think of this as more like a running change of one figure instead of a new figure so they only get counted once).
By this definition I guess I would count Vikor only once although I could see why the case could be made to count him 3 times.
I probably would count multipacks as multiple figures. So Star Sisters get 3 spots, etc.

I agree with this. I also would add in my opinio Mo-Larr is not part of the line as he is the only figure i have not purchased i view him as a gimmick and a Robot Chicken item rather than an actual MOTUC figure.

Like him or not, Mo-Larr is still an official figure release.... I don't own him myself, and have no plans to, I own the Skeletor, but not Mo-Larr....but he's still an official figure.

Dare. What better way to celebrate the longevity of these characters than by giving us one that represents its future.

My list (i'm not counting chase figures or beasts) :

    ....
    99 Strobo
    100 King He-Man
    101 Fang Man

    ...
It all depends on how you count 'em, but I really like this list! And having KING He-Man in the 100th spot is perfect!

I think every figure should be counted, including the giants, cats, horses, beasts, etc. I think the only things I wouldn't count would be the weapons packs/rack & Wind Raider.

And I THINK I'd count the army builders as 4 each since I'd argue each head makes a different figure.....hmmm....but then do Man-At-Arms and Whiplash count twice? Probably not, but now I'm just confusing myself!

Including army builders (listed as 1 figure) and large scale beasts/figures as well as Granamyr - no weapons packs etc then the 100 figure has already gone and it was Jitsu

If I take out the large scale beasts/figures and Granny then the 100th figure is yet to come and its either Dawgator, Dittstroyer or Shield Maiden or Octavia.
