Flea market season started for real around here. I love browsing the outdoors flea markets because they're mostly comprised of ordinary people selling their stuff, not professional "dealers" (like most stationary flea markets).
So here's a small round-up of my first finds:
Two complete Sectaurs figures and one extra. I didn't have any Sectaurs at all, but I couldn't resist these guys. The guy selling them had them bagged up with all their weapons, and I'm guessing he was the original owner. The bug pet is missing its wings, sadly.
Two Macross/Robotech vintage figures. I believe the left one is a version of the same toy (a lot smaller of course) that became Jetfire in the Transformers line. I don't know anything about these guys.
In order: Oversized Powerdasher KO from the 80's, a Bandai transforming robot (but not a proper Transformer or Gobot), three Micronauts in various states of disarray. Second row: Burger King 200X Skeletor (europe exclusive), GI Joe Stalker and GI Joe Hardball for parts, and a King Hiss snake staff.
Legends class Excellion (or Hot Shot, Unicron trilogy naming is so confusing) and G1 Dead End.
But now the BIG ONE:
Takara Reflector COMPLETE and in great condition! Seriously, I never expected to find one at all, let alone with most stickers intact, nothing broken and little paint wear. This one is a keeper for sure!
Aw man, Sectaurs! Awesome, Sandman! I had the guy with the purple arms and a silver version of the other dude. Wish I could run into one of those with weapons; I lost the weapons somewhere along the way. I dunno how the heck I lost track of freakin' swords, 'cause those were always my favorite accessories. I think I had the Sectaur figures when I was REALLY young, so that probably explains it (that and the fact that I chewed off the things on thier foreheads).

I wouldn't even begin to list all the comics/ graphics/ art books I pick up, but toy wise I found the DKR Movie Masters on Monday and Tuesday. I snagged Bane, Batman, and Alfred.
I also did something I didn't expect: I ran into a new lego theme called Monster Fighters which just appealed to me like crazy: I bought the Vampyre Castle, the Wolfman tree set, the Swamp Creature pack, and the Mummy carriage. These are so cool! Other than the Batman and Catwoman set, some of the Lego games, and an Admiral Ackbar keychain, I haven't bought any actual lego sets for at least 10 yrs. Google search for Monster Fighters: these things are amazing!

"We have a Ram-Man"
Spider-Man stuff!
Cool figure, but you know...always gotta come with something. I like a claw better than a launcher, but it's not even a cool claw! You push the button and it opens rather than closes. That means you gotta go at another figure and open it, then close it, then open it again to throw 'em. There's more action when the button makes it SNAP shut! That way it's a lot more fun (SNAPSNAPSNAP) and you can close it around an enemy figure and-----okay yes, I'm saying there are right ways and wrong ways to make a claw weapon. What? I like toys!
Also got the super articulated Spidey with the new look. Dunno why, but someone went dumb all the sudden and took out the fist and web-shooting hands and replaced them with plain open hands. NO idea what thought process went into that. They're not terrible but....I mean why? The back of the package even shows him with the fist and web-shooting hand! The designers seriously went out of the way to make a last minute choice to make the hands just open? What is that supposed to show? Is he slapping people? I suppose he could be letting go of a web line, but what kinda motion is that for an action figure? Bah! Whatever, it's still a cool figure.
Found Dreadwing and Ironhide from the little line of TF figures. Very cool! The transformations and simple and quick, and I love the translucent weapons with all the plugs and ports for mixing and matching. Dreadwing in particular takes the favorite slot for me because he's got a sword AND he's a Decepticon plane, which for some reason has always been my favorite kind of Transformer (and not even because of Starscream...the badguy planes just always end up being awesome somehow).

Oh man, do you have the 3.75" Carnage? I mean at least Carnage's powers would let him create a claw, but the figure can't even hold the damn thing (not while keeping its balance) and it barely opens and closes! What is it with toy designers and crappy claws?
Grats on the Cyberverse figures, they are very neat. I kinda want to have a little army of the Vehicons (the black "troopers") from that line to army build. And Dreadwing is very cool!
Trying to collect the entire 80-issue Marvel Transformers comic series, I recently received issues #51-#59:
And I also got another Silver Age Amazing Spider-Man (#34):

A vhs tape of Hamtaro, brand spankin' new in package for 50 cents.
Yeah, Carnage's claw was kinda awkward. You had to click it open manually, then that button on the inside was supposed to press into the enemy figure and close the claw around him...then the whole thing falls off his arm! I know what they're going for, but the claws never stay on! How are you supposed to grab and throw an enemy if the whole thing flies off? At least Batman has 'em attached to some goofy harness or backpack.
As for the Cyberverse: I was hoping the Vehicons would be larger sized ones, but they seem to be in the tiny size and barely articulated. Not a deal breaker, but I do find myself much more impressed with the larger sized ones like Megatron and Starscream. Heck, I think the Cyberverse Megatron is more fun than his big 20 dollar figure! The little simple, translucent weapons are so much more fun than the crazy gimmicky ones the big guys come with.

Benny, are you getting into comics late or something?
Well, like most males, I started collecting comics as a youth (about 9-10 years old) and continued until my early twenties (21-22). Then the 90's comics hit and I stopped. My comics stayed in the corner somewhere for the last 15 years until I got a supply of Silver Age comics given to me as a gift. So, I got the fever again and now I am trying to complete certain titles I had when I stopped collecting: Amazing Spider-Man (this will be very hard), Uncanny X-Men (this is feasible), ROM, New Mutants, Alpha Flight, and Transformers.
I'm not collecting any new stuff though. Just stuff from the 80's and earlier.

They had some comic books from free comic book day so I picked up Buffy the Vampire Slayer (which had another comic on the back, which I can't remember the name of the title)
I met Frank Thomas from the Chicago White Sox Thursday and got an 8x10 signed by him and today I met Shea McClellin, the Chicago Bears first round pick, and got an 8x10 signed by him. Monday I am going to meet White Sox first baseman Paul Konerko.
Thank you Mario, but our Princess is in another castle.
I took a ride to a distant TRU. Didn't have much that my local TRU doesn't have. But the Wal-mart down the street from there had a Storm Charger that I snagged.

Snagged this lot of 40 Joes from a guy Bigassbuzz knows here in Cincy.
I paid $80, so $2/figure, plus the weapons and 4 vehicles.
The big wins: "Dino-Hunter" Low-Light, Super Trooper, Steam Roller, The Fridge and a complete Techno-Viper!
Dino-Hunter Low-Light was part of a vintage TRU exclusive set. I've been looking forever, and this is the first piece I've tracked down.
Super Trooper was a mail-away that I haven't seen for sale in person before. I had the neon green repaint, so very excited to get this version.
Steam Roller was the driver of the Mobile Command Center, so he only came with that huge vehicle. Now he drives my MCC!
The Fridge was another mail-away that cool (only vintage Joe modeled after a real person). I had one, but this one is much nicer.
The Techno-Viper isn't excruciatingly rare, but a complete one is hard to find. I have a few, but this is my first with any weapons.
The rest are pretty cool too.
The Monster Blaster APC finally gave me enough spare parts to complete both versions of the MB APC.
I finally got a Spirit! I already have his weapons (got 'em another lot), so now I have the figure to go with!
I needed those late-series versions of Stalker, Roadblock and Gung-Ho.
The rest of the figures I compared with the versions in my collection, so I could build the best version possible - lots of fun! The duplicates will eventually be re-sold, whenever I get around to sorting through my extra Joe stuff![]()
