The Return to Anwat Gar

I've gotta say, for me personally, this is the first real release in quite a few months (possibly, dare I say, this year), that has really got me excited. I can't wait for this guy!

Aside from Clawful, Man-E-Faces looks like he's going to be my favourite figure of the year. Both are so awesome looking.
The SDCC reveals will have to be incredible to top these two.
Great review Dan.
I'm not a massive Man-E fan, but the figure does look pretty awesome.
I think you're just jaded about a toyline, which I understand. I sometimes have a bit of a love/hate thing going on for MOTUC (Still mostly love it though).
But I have to ask, do you think you'll feel the same way after they start making Filmation characters?
Aren't you going to want to pick up a MOTUC Shokoti?
i have to wait till i get him to give my final grade, but i am with some people here, that i would have prefered "full heads" of each character within that helmet.
i mean, we know what "flat sides of each face" looks like..... but it would have been worth giving up the action feature to take off a helmet and have a full head of human manE, or robot or monster.....
he looks ok in the review, but as far as the sculpt of the helmet area, and faces, the comparison shows that the 200x version was done 100 times better in my opinion. but again, we will see when i have it in hand.....
i mean, if people didnt get so dang loud about the action feature, they would have made that helmet compatible, that you could put ANY HEAD on inside of it, and then close the helmet over top of it.
eh.....
Personally, I think he looks great. He was one I was worried about. My only complaint is the lack of white eyes.....but that is really minor.
I am really excited to get MEF. The first two series of MOTU figures were always my favorites and now I just have mekaneck and rammy to want.
Anyway, in my opinion, the Man-E-Faces classics figure is a perfect example of why many of us collect this line of toys. They are a nostalgic re-imagining of toys we loved as kids. For me, the cheese-factor of MOTU was one of the things that made it so fun as I was growing up. Quirky names, colorful designs, and off-the-wall powers really make things interesting.

I gotta say the translation from card back art to product with MEF is one the most satisfying results I've seen for this line. There was so much missed out with the original eighties toy as far as execution. Most of the elements were altered and then Manganized in 200x. This is the Man-e-Faces that always should have been and hasn't been until now. I even think the skin tone is really representative of the card art or at least what I can see on the back of the mini comics. (I always imagined his skin was turned orange from all the cybernetic enhancements and implants, this version supports that theory for me) An absolutely beautiful figure that I am REALLY excited for. Thank you Four Horsemen, Thank you Scott, and Thank you Dan for the awesome review!!
Hey dude, sorry but I meant that you sound jaded about MotUC not jaded in general.
Out of curiosity what in your opinion is an example of a good female figure?Just wondering cos for me, compared to DCUC and Marvel Legends these are the best female figs Ive ever seen.

Really great review Dan as always! Keep up the great work! Can't wait for your future reviews espically when you review Leech!
No problem.
My issue with the 4H women are that some of them I just don't like(Teela's stern face for example) while others I think are poorly done(the DCUC female toys I've seen). Some of them, like Adora & She-Ra, seemed better online so maybe the factories that make the toys should share the blame in my disappointment once they are in my hand.
I'm less a toy fan these days and more just a fan of MOTU. I'm not sure what the 6" Marvel Legends look like, but the DC Direct female toys I've bought over the years are usually quite good. I know it's about as popular to trash the 4H on this site as it is to announce you're an athiest in church, but I'm just starting to realize that I'm not a big fan of a lot of their "original" work. Considering MOTUC(at least the stuff where they haven't put too much of their own "spin" on it) and the Outer Space Men are their only work that I really like, I guess you could say I think they are talented when they stick close to another artist's design. Maybe after SDCC I'll change my mind. I'm not to stubborn to admit I was wrong.
