There's a thread for DVDs, but this seems different enough. The DVD thread feels more like a list of DVD editions that have recent;y come out, as opposed to any movie discussion, but this is a way to talk about what you've seen recently and give others ideas on what to watch or not to watch.
In the past couple of days I watched:
Devil - I heard mixed reviews about this, and anything with Shymalan's name on it usually gets an instahate. But I thought it was pretty good. Not worth watching over again, but a one time watch is good, as a sorta supernatural "whodunnit".
Yojimbo - Been playing Way of the Samurai 3 and it got me in the mood to pull out my Criterion Kurosawa box set, since I was basing my in-game character on Yojimbo. Still a great movie, with plenty of funny moments. Toshiro Mifune is easilly the Japanese equivalent to John Wayne.

I enjoyed all of them very much... however "A Serbian Film" was pretty nuts
I rarely watch movies that aren't at the theater. My latest movie was Green Lantern for the fourth time. I rarely see movies more than once or twice at the theaters but I haven't got sick of this one yet.
Part of me wants to see this since it's so taboo, but anytime I hear some of the details, it leaves me reconsidering. I love horror movies and have a strong stomach for gore, but this movie just sounds like shock for shock's sake.Originally Posted by H.A.L.9000

The Giant Claw - an old 50's era B movie about a giant space vulture that attacks Earth. Good way to waste 90 minutes.

It hearkens back to the grindhouse days of the 70's in everything from the art direction to the set design to the music. It has a so bad it's good premise (A sentinent tire rolls around killing people with telekenesis) that only a fan of those movies could love. It's dark, comical, pointless, and stupid. Yet it delivers an engrossing enough to finish story, and even manages to eek out a little bit of commentary.
It's not a great or even good movie. But it is interesting enough to sit through. If you share tastes with The Cinema Snob I'd say check it out.

i thought it was about a giant battleship that attacks earth.
the last few movies i went out to see were thor, x-men: first class, and green lantern. i liked them all a lot, but x-men was by far my favorite of the three.
the last few movies i've watched either on tv or dvd were easy A, police academy 6: city under siege, and super. easy A wasn't bad, but they really shove the scarlet letter references down your throat. police academy 6 has always been my favorite in the series, mostly because of the mastermind's voice and the scenes at the end where hightower, jones, and tackleberry take on the three goons. super is the most demented, out of left-field superhero movie i've seen, but it's great if you're into that kind of stuff or if you just want to see what dwight schrute would be like as a vigilante.

Great film. Also liked the follow-up too: Sanjuro.
Unfortunately, the last film i saw was Transformers DOTM. Awful film...

Just got finished watching Hobo with a Shotgun. Wasn't bad. I like old 70's style grindhouse and this was way over the top. In fact, maybe a little too over the top.

I was mad that didn't come to Chicago(at least it didn't come to the suburbs just outside the city). I'm a big Rutger Hauer fan and am still waiting for a "real" grindhouse movie. I feel the Grindhouse double feature & Machete were uneven(not to mention they all contained too many modern pop culture references). One movie that was sorta grindhouse-like that I liked was 2008's Doomsday.Just got finished watching Hobo with a Shotgun. Wasn't bad. I like old 70's style grindhouse and this was way over the top. Recently watched a few.
Paul - As a huge fan of Spaced, Shaun of the Dead, and Hot Fuzz, I was totally amped for this. Now I'm a little disappointed. Not that it was bad, but I guess Pegg and Frost's previous works set the standards too high for what is very much a fairly cliche American comedy. I did love alot of the little sci-fi references in it (The reveal of the chairwoman involved in the secret base was a hoot). Also, I have to admit to a little knee-jerk groaning when it introduced the "Christians". I was like "Please don't do this... all we need is more jokes at the worst and craziest part of our religion, with no acknowlegment that many of us accept the Big Bang, Evolution, and even the possibility of life on other planets..." But then I had to tell myself that it was a movie starring Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and Seth Rogan about a slacker alien, and I should really just relax.
In the end, not bad. Prolly wouldn't watch it again, unless it was with someone who wanted to see it and hadn't.
Rise of the Planet of the Apes - Excellent. I enjoyed this flick more than anything in the past few months (keep in mind, I RARELY see new movies, so this excudes any Capt. America or anything else). I just finished watching it and loved it. I hope we get a sequel with the further Rise. Unless it sucks, then I'm perfectly fine with my imagination filling the blanks.

Drive Angry - I like Nic Cage.... this movie bored me. That's all I can say. 40 minutes into it, I just didn't care. The female lead was obnoxious and unlikeable, the story dragged. If I want to see Cage dispense justice from beyond the grave, I'll watch Ghost Rider (Yes.... I actually enjoy that movie for what it is.... sorry).

I like Nick Cage but it seems only 1 out of every 5 movies of his are worth seeing. I HATED Drive Angry. It was all about trying to shock(let's kill a baby or let's have "hard R" sex scenes) without any of the insane fun that old grindhouse movies had. I also don't like Amber Heard either. This was the only movie I've seen her in where she wasn't nude since that seems to be the only reason she gets work. I love John Carpenter but when his latest movie opened up at only 1 theater 45 minutes away from me, I decided to skip it since it starred Heard.

Just Go With It Loved it. I was laughing pretty good. I enjoy Adam Sandler, so this movie made me check out another Sandler flick I missed..

I've never even heard of her (no pun intended). But I find that I must be old because there's alot of actresses and actors these days I just don't know. Like this Summer Grau person. All I know is she cancels shows, yet nerds seem to love her. I think it's because I really haven't watched a lot of the big TV shows in the past decade adn that's where they come from.
One of my all time favorites. That movie and Dragnet were two of the everyday repeated movies HBO was playing the summer of '87 when my Dad was at the Air Force Burn Center in Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio. One would think that spending my days at a hospital would create negative memories, but I just remember watching these movies everyday on their TV and loving them.

Limitless - not quite what I expected but, hey, it's got Robert DeNiro in it. But then again, so did Godsend. Ugh.
The Shawshank Redemption - probably my second favorite standalone film (after That Thing You Do!)
The Incredibles - my favorite Pixar flick. Even Jason Lee couldn't ruin it.
