    Fast & Furious 6

Loved Fast 5, it was the Godfather 2 of the series. This was the Terminator 2 of the series and a huge reward for everyone who sat through the first four as they randomly came out, and to those who hopped on to Fast 5 with a clean slate. This is the culmination of all those films, their best stars, best parts, amplified to the moon.

The crew is back, including the Rock, for the biggest job they've ever done in order to get immunity and bring back Letty to the family. This time however they're up against a crew of doppelgangers who have the edge on them.

I'm surprised to say that this has been my favorite summer 2013 movie so far. Better than Star Trek and Iron Man as far as delivering what was promised and a lot more. There are so many great moments, it's hard to choose my favorite one. Quite a few moments when the audience had to clap and cheer. In Fast 5 they figured out what kind of series this was and who the audience was and here they absolutely nail it. The first four were fun street racing films, then escalated into a great heist movie, and in this we have Oceans 11 meets The Expendables. The action and fight scenes are incredible. I was spent from the last quarter of the film and left wanting more after the ending.

The movie is pretty funny between all the action scenes, love the cast. This is one of the few movies that use the Rock perfectly. Also really enjoyed Gina Carano. But I think everyone will be talking about the ending. Make sure not to walk out when it's over. Just stay seated. You'll see what I mean.

As far as big summer movies go I'd rank them like this so far.

    Fast & Furious 6
    Star Trek into Darkness
    Iron Man 3
    Oblivion
    GI Joe 2: Retaliation

    Go see it.

Fast And Furious 6 I also saw last night. It was my first Fast and Furious movie. I wasn't into the whole racing movie idea, but this franchise has evolved into a broader action series and with additions to the cast like The Rock I was willing to see this one, and it didn't disappoint. It lived up to it's advertised high action kind of film, even if the durability of the main characters is a bit over the top.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo - Version with Daniel Craig. Watched it on cable last night.

I thought the movie was brilliant and I'm looking forward to the sequel.

Rented Intouchables and Playing For Keeps from Redbox.

I REALLY enjoyed watching the foreign language film Intouchables! It is the true story of a millionaire that becomes paralyzed in a paragliding accident. He decides to take on a street-smart young black man instead of a trained professional to be his aide. Their unexpected friendship helps both men realize their true potential.

Witness on DVD: Excellent crime thriller and one of the first movies to be about Amish life, Harrison Ford being one of my fave actors does a fantastic role as a detective gone Amish to protect a young boy from criminals who knew he witnessed a crime. I saw this on video when i was 4 and thought it was quite entertaining, this is one of my fave Ford movies. Kelly McGillis is quite a beauty and she did a great job playing an Amish mother.

Batman 1989 on blu-ray: one of my fave comic based movies! i remembered seeing it opening day and saw it 6 times in theaters when i was 8 and i was obsessed with it as i had nearly all the merchandise, ate the cereal (remember that?), and collected the comics since plus i had the NES with VHS tape for Christmas that year including watching and taping reruns of the 60's show. This movie brings back so much nostalgic memories as it made me a Batman fan. Basinger was a total babe in this movie and i had a crush on her since, the film looks and sounds awesome on high def no doubt.

Star Trek Into Darkness for a second time: Loved every minute of it.

Con Air on blu-ray: Fun action movie from the 90s i saw 3 times in theaters when i was a teen and it looks/sounds sharp on high def, gotta love the "Bunny back in the box" line.

Armageddon on blu-ray: Great movie, i saw it 3 times in theaters when i was a teen too and i enjoy Jerry Bruckehimer productions. I cried when the main guy sacrificed himself and is a feel good movie no doubt. It looks and sounds sharp on high def yet the unrated director's cut on criterion DVD which i own for that cut and extras galore looks nice.

The Damned 4/6 , Wong Tao wants to save his gf from prostitution , Angela Mao guest stars though I wish her role would've been larger. Creative ending.

Excelsior 3.5/6 , 2 brothers and one of them get sent to juvie hall , they recognize each other since both have domino tattoo.

Chang Yi (of Hapkido fame) plays one of the brothers......I never felt the movie took off.

    Duel 5/6

Awesome thriller by Spielberg , prolly his 1st......I didn't think it was gonna be that good but was prooven wrong , highly recommended.
Don't you have better thing to do than read this stupid signature

Rented Broken City and The Guilt Trip from Redbox. Both were pretty good. Nothing great, but worth the $1.25 rental fee.

Just re-watched Requiem for a Dream for the first time in years. Very depressing, though extremely effective. Every person thinking of tampering with or using drugs should watch this.

Went to see After Earth with my wife tonight. And despite misgivings towards the way Jaden is continually being forced upon us by his father, the movie does not deserve the thrashing its been getting by critics. Visually impressive, it does a good job of making you wonder if the main characters will survive. And despite misgivings about the Smith's acting, it is believable.

Rented and watched Now is Good, Safety Not Guaranteed, and De rouille et d'os (Rust and Bone) from RedBox. All 3 were pretty good.

Got a few more Redbox movies (Warm Bodies and Parental Guidance) and enjoyed them both

After Earth: Quite a weak sci-fi movie from M. Knight despite a good performance by Will Smith.

Ninja III The Dominion on blu-ray: A guilty pleasure of mine for 25 years since i was a kid when i rented it, it's a fun wtf mix of horror and martial arts about a sexy aerobic instructor as she gets possessed by the spirit of a dead ninja and she has to deal with ninjas in order to get the spirit out of her body. It has some memorable moments like crushing 8-Balls and the V8 juice sequence, Lucina D ickey is quite sexy here in this movie. The blu-ray offers crisp picture and sound quality and Scream Factory has done it again.

Big Trouble in Little China on blu-ray: One of my childhood faves since i saw it 4 times on the big screen and this is an excellent fantasy-comedy-adventure from John Carpenter and stars 2 personal fave actors of mine being Kurt Russell and James Hong. Kim Cattral was hot in this movie as Gracie Law and this movie has quality special effects ranging from the floating eyeball Guardian to the hilarious scene where one of the bad guys Thunder inflates himself into a Garbage Pail Kid then explodes into salad.

Back to the Future on blu-ray: One of the best summer films ever! i saw this movie 5 times when i was 4 when it hit theaters and became one of my favorites, Lea Thompson became one of my first crushes when i was a kid and i thought she was gorgeous in this movie. This movie has never looked or sounded better than before on high def.

Alien on blu-ray: One of the films that got me hooked into the horror and sci-fi genre 28 years ago when i rented it on video and thought it was scary as hell stuff and was shocking, i enjoyed it and it's sequel. It looks and sounds absolutely amazing and with the picture quality you think it was filmed in 2009 even with details you never seen before.

HarryCanyon, have you checked out the Psycho blu-ray? Holy crap did the blu-ray format do wonders to that movie!

    - - - Updated - - -

I just watched 28 Days Later for the second time since I saw it in theaters. Reminded me why I didn't think it was very good then, and still don't, despite others apparent lover for it.

Hurky-jerky camera work, poor camera choice, and a movie that loses my interest once it becomes a military coup story instead of a horror movie.

HELL YES Psycho's blu-ray is fantastic Rockin hard as it has excellent contrast/detail with a light layer of film grain and void of DNR and great extras too, a definite must own for horror lovers and Psycho has never looked or sounded great before on HD. I can't wait for Psycho 2 and 3 coming to BD and i do own the triple feature DVD with Psycho II/III/IV.

What did you think of 28 Weeks Later?

I never watched it. I just didn't like the first one enough to watch the sequel. Same goes for Saw. Did not like the first one at all. So I didn't watch the sequels.

Just watched V/H/S 2 on demand - it was a pretty fun horror flick! Last one I saw at the theater was Star Trek Into Darkness, which I enjoyed.

Man of Steel: Excellent reboot of the franchise.

Vamp on Arrow BD: One of my favorite vampire films since i saw it in theaters as a kid has never looked or sounded better than ever thanks to the Arrow BD Collector's Edition import and not many US BD player owners here realize that some UK import DVDs can sometimes play on our BD players and PS3's. This one is a fun horror comedy from 1986 with a cult following and stars Dedee Pfeifer who is absolutely hot in this movie, Chris Makepeace from Meatballs does a good performance as the hero, Geedee Wantanabe is hilarious in this movie. Grace Jones does a terrific performance in this movie as Katrina the vampiress and who thinks she's on par with David Bowie, Meatloaf, Will Smith, Tina Turner, Bjork, Courtney Love, Ice Cube etc. in terms of musicians who can act? this one has great make-up and gore by Greg Cannom and pre-dates both From Dusk Till Dawn and B ordello of Blood years later. The BD to this cult fave looks and sounds great with a crisp transfer and quality coloring with great extras to please fans of the film.

Lifeforce on BD: Scream Factory has done it again with a solid BD to a cult fave as usual. The Picture quality transfer is superb thanks to be supervised by director Tobe Hooper and the sound is great too as this BD has both the US Theatrical cut and the international European cut. I always liked this movie since i was 10 when i rented it on video and thought it was an interesting Sci-fi horror thriller that brings a sci-fi twist to the vampire and zombie mythologies, it's kind of like The Keep, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Return of the Living Dead and Vampirella comics (Same idea of vampire legends/myths born from aliens like on planet Drakulon) all rolled into one. Patrick Stewart with David Finlay co-star in this and Matilda May steals the show as the extremely hot vampiress from space and one of those chicks that brought me to manhood. I like that this is a different kind of vampire film as the vampires in this movie aren't fanged creeps who sucked blood but instead they suck your energy or lifeforce and this movie has one of the earliest fast zombies. Nice score by Michael Kamen and Henry Mancini.

The Howling on BD: Scream Factory i gotta praise them for bringing quality cult sci-fi, horror and thriller films on quality BDs with great transfers and sound with extras galore. I always liked this since i was 5 when i rented it on video and thought it was a scary and unique werewolf movie, almost as good as American Werewolf in London which came out the same year. Dee Wallace is terrific in this movie as the heroine as well as Robert Picardo, Kevin McCarthy and D ick Miller, Joe Dante does a fantastic directorial job here as previously he did on Piranha and later Gremlins movies. Rob Bottin's make-up and animatronics are awesome and still are as they beat CGI werewolves anytime you know, i like how detailed the transformations are just like American Werewolf's TFs. This one brings something unique to werewolf mythology as they can change during the daytime than just full moon and all that. The picture and sound are great and this is a must own BD for werewolf fans.

I watched Warm Bodies, Mama and Oz The Great and Powerful recently. Oz and Warm Bodies were really good. Mama was a little weird but still worth seeing.

    Superman: Man of Steel.

I enjoyed it. Sure it has some issues, but most movies do. It was a fun ride and a cool/modern interpretation. The fight scenes did seem to drag on, and like the live action Transformers movies the fighting was too all over the place. I'm never too happy with American movie fight scenes. Watching Faora-Ul fight was pretty sweet, with her anime quick fighting/poses. She seemed to be the modern version of Ursa from Superman II. Overall fun, but I really want a Martian Manhunter movie!

I actually liked the fight scenes and unlike "Bayformers" they were well done and I could still tell what was going on but then again I have been watching anime for years.

Just got back from watching "The Lone Ranger". Didn't know what to expect, but ended up REALLY enjoying it. One of the best movies I have seen this year!
