    Battleground Evil-Lyn: Discussion thread

Basically, it's a hybrid Lyn. 200X's colours & unmasked head with Filmation's cape and paint layout on an otherwise basic repaint of Simpsons-Lyn. No new dress, boots, skirt-train or armguards. Disappointing.

    Compare:

Not so much "more than just a repaint", Toyguru.

    EDIT:

Bio: Cast aside by her secret husband after his transforation, Evil-Lyn sent their infant son into the future and plotted to overthrow Skeletor by releasing his enemies from their dimensional prisons. In a series of miscalculations, she helped free the Snake Men, Hordak and Gygot - increasing her advesaries threefold! Afer Randor and Miro returned from Despondos, the Three Towers rose and Evil-Lyn found herself again allied with Skeletor during the Second Ultimate Battleground. At the end, defeated and stripped of her powers by the new Sorceress of Grayskull, Evil-Lyn used the Cosmic Key and the power of the Central Tower to return to the future and find a new life with her long lost child - the son of Skeletor!

Personally I am really happy, this is pretty much what I hoped she would be.

Thank you!!! I was starting to feel alone in that other thread. If we're still getting a proper 200x Lyn then this one is just fine. If this is supposed to be the 200x lyn it's rather dissapointing. She doesn't even match her father.

I'm keeping the hope for a proper filmation and a proper 200x lyn.

eh, I am ok with it specifically because of the helmet-less head and skin color. I am surprised it was a lot of repainted parts, but only because the general consensus was she would get significant new tooling.

    I will buy her

Apart from TP He-Man, this is the most disappointing reveal today.
    Plain, simple, boring.
If she wouldnīt be part of my sub, this would be the first figure Iīd skip. Rather waiting for the REAL 200x Evil-Lyn.

A little disappointed in her, was hoping she'd be a little more 200x accurate, where have those red bits come from?

    Same here!

For all intents and purposes, THIS IS 200X Evil-Lyn. Mattel isn't going to dump a load of cash to recast new parts for a "proper" MYP version or Filmation version for that matter any time soon and I can definitely live with this 200X interpretation.

I would have liked the longer loincloth(?) but I'm pretty happy with her otherwise.
Jitsu should have had his 200X belt!!!

I think this figure is amazing! I know people were hoping for a new sculpt, but honestly this works so well for me... I'm ecstatic. The helmet-less head and spell-casting hand make it a slam-dunk for me.

I can't wait to read the bio.

I hope that this Battleground Evil-Lyn look is her look before her 200x look like Battleground Teela is her look before her sorceress look. If not then that will suck.

As awesome as this looks, I've waited years for a Filmation Evil-Lyn, and with only 2-3 Filmation characters per year, I get the feeling she's on the back burner. I think we need to clammer to get this repainted into the Filmation version.

If you put Panthor's new helmet through the Classicizer machine you get a green repainted Battle Cat helmet. Buzz-Off came with his 200x axe and vintage axe. We should have only got Buzz-Off's vintage axe with the figure. Not I'm complaining, but I still don't have my 200x Keldor swords or 200x Evil Lyn.

My thoughts from the other thread:

That is not 200x Evil Lyn. It's a repaint of the current yellow Teela but in 200x colors.

It's still a massive improvement though.

First, it gets rid of that horrid yellow Simpson color. The purple and black match Skeletor.

The cape and extra head are very nice.

So in short, we still have not gotten an official 200x variant of any character (King Hsss, Evil Lyn. etc). I'm seriously doubting we will get any actual 200x variants.

We can sculpt new characters but Evil Lyn can't get her own outfit?

Failure by Mattel and the 4H. But at least it's not an epic one anymore. That Evil Lyn still looks worlds better than the current one and will easily become my default one. This is what we should have gotten the first time.

Then put her through the same machine the faceless one went through!

Edit: Just noticed her "spellcasting" hand. (or scratching hand lol)

Okay, clearly it's even MORE loosely based than I first thought. The base dress colour is BLACK, not purple...

That means she's probably going to have Catra's super squishy left hand too, doesn't it?

On the plus sider, her weapons do look stunning. The colors and the silver paint apps are amazing. That is probably my favorite weapon paint app so far in the line.

Aww, dude. I know how much you've wanted this figure to happen...and I'm sorry.

I dig it quite a bit. Taking 200X and the fact that it's kind of a repaint of a repaint out of the equation, it's pretty sweet as far as redecos go.

So even though I like it, I feel your pain. A skirt and maybe even a few parts swaps with other females may have helped. Even Catra boots could be argued as Classicized 200X boots, just to change her up some.

If it was a case of skirt or head, I'd have gone with head. That's a nice looking head that I feel does a fantastic job applying the MYP look to the Classics face! I look forward to seeing some custom solutions to the skirt, hopefully one that everyone can easily replicate.

As far as redecos go, I'll agree it's stunning. It is light years ahead of the current figure.

It's close, just not all the way there. I love it so much more than what we got though. I feel like at least I can call this an Evil Lyn figure. And that does make me very happy.

Personally I like the figure. Sure it doesn't look exactly like the 200x version, but I kinda like how they did her. She looks great to me and I'll happily add her to my collection.

I do have one question though...will she have the swappable staff top like the original did? I prefer the wand style as opposed to the staff.

This is one of the most exciting reveals of the day for me. I do wish that she matched the Faceless One's colors a bit better, but overall I'm just happy to see anything resembling 200X Evil Lyn.

The neckline of her dress with the cape on top don't really work for me. I'm just not getting what I wanted from this figure. (if indeed this is mattel's attempt at the 200x version).
