WIP He-Man Power Sword

Well, in case nobody knew, I am a Welder and have been doing it for about 21 years. I work in a steel mill (the one Henry Ford built) and for years I have wanted to make a sword similar to He-Man's. After seeing the picture of the sword from SDCC from 2009 or 2010 I knew I had to make one. Now I don't have fancy automatic cutting equipment so I have to do everything by hand. I am going to make it one sided for display purposes only because of my limited machinery so here is what I have so far:

Now, if I get caught making it by the wrong people I could get fired so I can only work on it when nobody else is around so it may take a little while to finish but I want to get it done as soon as I can. Just wanted to share my work.

Don't worry about my job. My boss has seen what I'm doing and it's cool with him. I just can't walk out of the plant with it because of security. I will get someone to drive it out. It looks good so far though.

Phase 1 complete. Next will be the blade and then the handle. I think it's going to be pretty sweet.

Phase 2 almost complete, I have the blade cut out of a piece of stainless steel.

Well I had some time today to work on the sword and I just completed it. It came out just as I wanted it to. It 36" long and is 10" at the widest point and probably weighs around 12 lbs.

That's a beautiful piece of artwork! Does the handguard go on both sides, or is it just one-sided?
