Scott was pretty adament about there not being a She-Ra series in the works. He said everything online is just rumors, and they don't have anything like this planned.
I guess we'll see what happens, though!
Hopefully this doesn't come off snarky, but if you read through this thread, Damien Tromel's Twitter account, and visit the link with his credentials, I think it's pretty obvious this person works for Classic Media. While I realize there are tons of phonies on the web trying to impersonate other people for attention, I seriously have no idea why someone would pretend to be this particular employee and carry on a charade for so long.... LOL It's not like the guy is all that known to the public. It was a complete accident that I even stumbled upon his Twitter account doing a search, so he wasn't 'advertising' it, which gives the account some more clout. It's true there's no show in the works as of yet, but most know it's in the development/pitch phase. Not sure why Mattel doesn't know about it. Maybe they just don't want to say anything? Maybe Classic Media isn't keeping them in the loop? I dunno.
Angel-T, I would assume he's aware of the resources available on this site. Someone I know has attempted to get involved in the project, so there's at least one knowledable person he can tap.![]()

The thing is still in early stages, so it's not surprising that they'd deny that it's being prepared (most likely to avoid bunch of websites posting news like "SHE-RA live action series in the making!"). :\

I tweeted him yesterday, this is what he said.
I've never seen it posted online, but I have seen and read many descriptions and write-ups about it from people whi have read it. From those, it sounded like Whedon's Wonder Woman script not being picked up was a GOOD thing. Hiw Wonder Woman was a spoiled princess who needed to be put in her place by a man -Steve Trevor. Sounds like a fundamental lack of understanding the whole point of the character to me. Whedon doesn't know how to write women who aren't completely emotionally damaged - which again, is NOT Wonder Woman.
Maybe he'd learn from that and write She-Ra a little better, but it seems to be a trope in his work, which I largely enjoy, I just don't think he's the best choice for every project.

It makes total sense that Scott wouldn't confirm something that hasn't even made it past development. This guy might be just working on an internal pitch to CM and not even to studios/networks yet. If its that early on there is no point for Mattel to comment on it. Especially after what happened with Wonder Woman where the pilot took on a life of its own even though it never even made the cut. Anyway I wouldn't expect Mattel to comment on this until it was at LEAST green lit for pilot production.

Interesting. Reactions I'd read made it sound like she was not so much spoiled as without evil and didn't understand the evil of the world of man, and so Steve Trevor was there to explain what it means to be human and how being weak and not in control isn't always bad I guess or something. Actually as I describe it I think it sounds like it could have been very preachy. I tend to agree that Joss has his weaknesses, and I tend to disagree with some of his ideology. But the negative remarks I've seen had to do with basically not liking Trevor teaching her anything at all, like her requiring him for any reason in the story somehow ruined her character. Personally I worry about that kind of thinking with regard to a heroic female character. "No man is an island" applies to a woman too, and a leading lady has to get something out of her supporting characters or they are just wasting space. And a character who learns nothing, doesn't grow, is flat. She can't exactly be the idealized feminist model the whole way through. I guess it's easier with She-Ra since she can learn things as Adora and it feels less like it takes away from She-Ra's strength.
I think there needs to be a He-Man AND She-Ra show.
Of course the movies I want to make should happen first.
Just a question. A couple updates back, Damien was saying something about engaging some writers for the series (I'm not positive, but I think he may have found at least one person), so if Joss did agree to be showrunner, would his role supersede whatever story development Classic Media (and possibly these writers) came up with in the development phase?
Anyhow, with his experiece on Firefly, I really think he could really bring The Horde to life on the small screen.![]()
TG is the type who would tell you Whiplash and Megator aren't coming this year, only to show them at NYTF. If there is a show, he's probably playing ignorant.
I'm sure he knew about the bobbleheads from Funko too, unless it's something where he only deals with action figures and not other aspects of the property.

New response.
@DTromel Hey there Damien. Does this [Dreamworks aquiring Classic Media] mean the pitch for She-Ra could get scrapped? Just curious.
@JimTallstar Hey Jim, not at all! Quite the opposite.
I was JUST thinking about DTromel the last two days! YAY!![]()
