    Interesting.

I think I would prefer to see an animated series (isn't the new My Little Ponies apparently directed at both children and adults) so that the stories, action, etc aren't limited by a standard live-action TV budget, although I would be very excited to see a live-action She-Ra if it had similar production values and a similar "tone" to the live-action "Legend of the Seeker" series (which itself was an evolution of the Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys TV series).

That's what I'm thinking, and I can't believe it hadn't occurred to me until now. Plus you've got franchises like Underworld and Resident Evil that seem to have a consistent audience. Even the new Airbender show on Nickelodeon has a tough female lead. Now is the time to strike! Even if this info ends up wishful thinking, I'm glad my perceptions of how She-Ra could be introduced to a modern audience have been altered.

I'm not even huge into POP, but now I think She-Ra having some sort of media launch before He-Man may be the way to go. I'm sure they want Transformers level budget and success from a MOTU theatrical franchise, so why not test the waters with a smaller film or TV series? Marvel and DC have had some projects like this, Any sort of POP media could finally make it as valuable as MOTU and if it fails it doesn't harm MOTU. Introducing She-Ra first gives the general public a unique character that can't be dismissed as 'Girl He-Man." Not that any of this is necessarily happening, but if it ever does, it will make sense to me.

I'm thinking that some TV production company is probably looking to re-ignite the Xena and Buffy crowds like bcrduke said.

I would watch the TV show, but I would want He-man first and foremost, but if we get a She-ra TV show, then so be it.

I'll bet He-man will guest star once in a while.

I just hope that if this is in fact a live action She-Ra in the making, that it's better then the new Wonder Woman show. I've seen the pilot and it was AWFUL! They have to stay true to the character. I can't wait to see what comes of this.

The generel premise of She-Ra is much more established and generally appealing than He-Man´s. The horde oppression, the rebellion, a medieval fantasy setting... Things the audience can easily relate to. And how about turning the tables this time?
If this time we start with She-Ra and in one episode down the road suddenly a blonde musclepacked stranger appears... That could kick off a He-Man series as well.

It could be that we misunderstand this Classic Media Guy! Maybee he mean a new DVD of the Filmation Series! And he will show us a Picture and Artwork of the new Box.

It would be so cool to have a new She-ra cartoon! I think there is a great potential! But i can't believe that it happens now!

This could be amazing IF it's done like Game of Thrones with some True Blood thrown in.

And NO BLAKE LIVELY. SHE's horrible.
Buffy is enjoyable, Xena and Hercules (and what was the most recent fantasy show done in the same style?) were not good and this is what I would see She-Ra being. An underwhelming budget and this will fail faster than Wonder Woman. Haven't seen Game of Thrones but it looks darker and more mature than anything they'd do for She-Ra.

I loved both Xena & Buffy but a live-action She-Ra will be a far more difficult project to get right. It's much bigger and grandiose than either of those shows, and will certainly need a much larger budget. The task of creating an entire alien world from scratch is going to be an enormous undertaking, let alone the fantasy creatures that populate it.

That's exactly why I can't help but to think that it'll end up as a gigantic disaster.

Plus the possibility of it having nothing to do with He-Man...

I’m all in especially if it’s a live action TV Series like the “Legend of the Seeker”, which showed you can successfully mix magic with epic sword fights to tell a good tale.

Concerns over budget I’ll ignore and just hope the creative team and backers will take this into account. After all it’s been too long since the last She-Ra cartoon was made and would love to see something new.

I would however say they need a good actress who looks and feels confident in the She-Ra role. One of the reasons the latest Wonder Woman show failed for me was that the actress seemed more “Wonder Girl” than “Wonder Woman”. Hope they learn from Wonder Woman and they’re paying attention at the auditions….

Surely a live-action series would be too expensive? I would have thought that anything away from movie screens would only be animated. I don’t know, I just find the whole thing kind of fishy.

I love She-Ra, don’t get me wrong, but I cant imagine Mattel giving the go-ahead for any kind of new She-Ra media that doesn’t include He-Man. She-Ra has always needed He-Man more than He-Man needs She-Ra. Surely that’s why he popped up in the POP animated series so often?

That was the other show I was thinking of! Which I felt was vey underwhelming and not worth watching. Just didn't have the production value and seemed very cheesy.

If this is really a new TV series it seems like such an odd way to announce it. You'd think they'd make a big press release out of it and show the art and everything... huh.

Its for a pilot, they have to film/make it to get approved to go on a network

In case its not painfully clear, this is NOT for a show YET...its all work for a pilot/pitch. If it gets picked up somewhere (live or animated) you will see the usual pr come

I didn't even know it was for a pilot. Is there more info out there than what is in this thread? I haven't bothered to look at Twitter, I'll admit. I mean, that makes sense but I've seen exactly two bits of official info:

New She-Ra series....photoshoot and concept artwork soon. Need a real live sword of protection though #mastersoftheuniverse

JonWes: I'll collect the tweets for you soon. Sorry for not explaining further in the initial post...I sort of assumed that folks knew what I was talking about because I posted so many times about this Classic Media guy. hehe

in my opinion the best option for she-ra is an animated series geared for girls, I think girls of today would love that world.
anyway I think a live-action series is something tempting .
