1. Jon-O:
Does the acquisition of Filmation rights grant access to characters from He-Ro, Son of He-Man; ie, He-Ro (Dare) and Kay-La?

We had access to these stories and characters regardless of the Filmation rights (hense Evil Lyn's bio which is setting up some elements heading toward this story)

2. Skystalker:
Can you please create a separate subscription that will include all six 30th anniversary characters and Granamyr, if he is indeed to be released in 2012?

While we are always exploring this, nothing is set yet. We are trying to find a way but nothing to announce now.

3. Count Marzo:
What was it like to know that you had the Filmation rights and not be able to communicate this to the fans for a while?

It actually JUST happened right before SDCC so it was more excitement for what we would be able to announce knowing how happy we would be making a lot of fans!

4. Prahvus:
Now that Filmation characters are game since the rights were acquired, how will they have an impact on the "MOTUC roadmap" that was supposed to go until 2018?

We’ve populated the line with 1-3 Filmation characters per year which yes, has pushed out our “roadmap” by quite a few years. But keep in mind that each year we green light one year at a time and just lift those figures from the roadmap. We do not have the green light to go forward on anything past 2012 right now.

If anything, the addition of Filmation library of characters (and Golden Book and magazine characters) has forced us to make hard choices as each year was already really strong in terms of a perfect mix of characters (i.e. between factions like POP, Horde, Masters, Evil Warriors, NA etc…) Now that we have additional character pools it means we had to make hard decisions on who to push out from an already fair and balanced roll out, schedule to accommodate Filmation characters into each year. Not an easy task!

5. Sailoruranus:
Now that you have the rights to the cartoons, what New Adventures cartoon characters would you love to see in toy form?

Mara and the scientists come up a lot on fan posts but they may not be the biggest priority over some of the other more requested Filmation characters. Keep in mind we only have 12 slots per year and that needs to also include vintage figures and new character from 2002 as well. We aren’t going to just move forward with an all Filmation/Jetlag year or anything like that. We will be sprinkling these figures into the line a little at a time.

Also...does this mean they're kind of saying Dare is actually supposed to be Evil-Lyn and Skeletor's son? In the show, the big reveal was going to be that he was Adora and Sea Hawk's son...

Yeah, I just re-read BG Evil-Lyn's bio and her "He-Ro: Son of He-Man" bio...and if they're changing Adora and Sea Hawk as the biological parents of Dare (He-Ro) to Skeletor and Evil-Lyn...it's just downright CREEPY!

Dare will have the hots for his mother? That's gross!

I am super excited by this. I already decided that Son-Of Skeletor should be dare.

Already posted elsewhere some time ago about how I used to think adopted son characters in cartoons are lame, (why not just biological?) and hated this idea in the Son OF He-man, though I accepted it.

But with that Lyn Bio, I thought : FInally, that would make that storyline RuLE! Dare is Evil Lyn & Skeletor's son?

I am so excited. I never thought this was even possible.

And it so is. Just awesome. And clearly it's probable now as well.

I am so happy. This is so delish.

Really? Thank God the 4H had the time to quit everything they have been doing at the time and make such a nice prototype figure for Shadow Weaver.
Prototype may not be a good word for it though since what is shown in SDCC is the final product.. hmmm

I've always believed that maybe the Sorceress comes back eventually. Like she dies and returns even MORE powerful, like Gandalf the White. We also have Sorceress AND Teela in New Adventures. Battleground Teela simply advanced Teela into something more than He-Man's clueless love interest, now that she knows his secret and had embraced her destiny.

In a world full of magic (and since Toyguru is a comic book fan), resurrection on Eternia shouldn't be completely unfounded. Teela being the Sorceress might be a temporary thing, instead of permanent.

Wow I never knew that, when was that revealed?

I suppose a nice angle of him possibly being Evil-Lyn and Skeletor's son in MOTUC is that he'll have a dark side, similar to Anakin in SW, and sometimes submit to this dark side in fits of anger and rage.
I also I suppose he would be called He-Man and not He-Ro in MOTUC as in this canon we have the multiple He-Man legends.

I don't see anu reason why Teela could not be Sorceress and queen in MOTUC.

Anyhow, wowsers! I'm so surprised they had access to this proposal all along and are actually using elements from it in the bios! Truthfully, I've not given much thought to He-Ro, Son Of He-Man over the years, but I do think some of the characters are cool and wouldn't mind seeing a few of them eventually getting a figure in MOTUC.

What's this about the NA Scientists? I don't recall there being a demand for them. heheh

...how? Seriously, how do you end up with the rights to a rejected, SPEC, pitch?

1) Remember that the bios were written and "approved" before they had Filmation rights and they said they weren't going to rewrite them and get them "reapproved"
2) Even if they're building toward Dare, Kay-La, et al, take a look at their treatment of NA (travel only in space, not in time; came back for She-Ra as well as He-Man, take more MotU characters still with them) or the new minicomic vs the one it remakes to see that they're hardly beholden to the details of the original one.

I'm guessing that Evil-Lyn's son will end up becoming the new Skeletor (Dare's arch enemy) in the future.

I really like the idea of "Dare" being Evil-Lyn & Skeletor's lost son, raised up to become a heroic warrior by Adam & Teela in the future- being handed down the Power Of Grayskull. As for him becoming "He-Ro"... I know the original proposed series' He-Ro was going to be quite different from the Mattel proposed Powers Of Grayskull version of He-Ro... but what if this is a chance to tie it all together and- stay with me here- make "Dare" Ro instead, and have him actually become the He-Ro we have now in MOTUC (great strength, plus magic- hmm... where'd he get that magic from eh? Mom and Pop, of course!)... and of course there'd have to be some time travelling element at the end of it all where He-Ro goes back to the past, becomes a great cosmic warrior, gets tangled up with Hordak... gets sent to Eternia, meets up with King Grayskull... passes the Power Sword to King Grayskull upon his death... and, storywise, it all becomes a giant loop!

Also, with the possible switch of Evil-Lyn & Skeletor being Dare/Ro/He-Ro's parents, it doesn't change at all that little bit in King Adam's bible bio where it says "Is it possible they are connected by blood?"- because Dare/Ro/He-Ro would technically be King Adam's cousin.

i like the idea of dare being skeletor and evil-lyn's son more than adora and sea hawk's son. if he's been adora and sea hawk's kid this whole time, it just makes the parents sound like deadbeats. it's too out of character for them to just abandon their son and have him fend for himself in the woods.

the concept of skeletor and evil-lyn as the parents works much better. it adds to the distrust between skeletor and evil-lyn. i can go with the idea of evil-lyn abandoning her son to save his life, especially if she's saving him from skeletor. and on top of that, it brings back the question "was keldor meant to be he-man?" it's possible that keldor, being the older brother, was the true heir of grayskull's legacy, but his dark path would prevent him from accessing such power. if his son is on the straight and narrow, i'm more than happy seeing the keldor bloodline receiving the power.

Adora and Sea Hawk did NOT abandon Dare. It sounds like a "Secret of the Sword" event happened to Dare. It says the she-bearcat discovered a small, shivering boy in the woods. It also says "The boy still remembers the beautiful woman and strong man who were his human parents, before the night he was stolen away. Sometimes his mother's voice, and the simple wisdoms she passed on to him, come back to him in times of need and help guide him."

So, like Adora...he was kidnapped and taken to a harsh place and has the ability to speak with animals.
