I don't like this explanation for this character. Especially if we specifically wanted 200X Lyn because she WASN'T wearing the Teela leotard. This is like giving Catra or Adora the Teela leotard.

At least we know that they can try again on Evil-Lyn.

Questions:

1) If this was solely a budget issue, why not make a character that IS solely a repaint, like Anti-Eternia He-Man, for example?

2) If you knew Female Buck 2.0 was coming but this Evil-Lyn couldn't have the new outfit you KNEW fans wanted, why even do this Evil-Lyn at all until the new body came out? I'm sure even the most enthusiastic employee at Mattel knew fans weren't clamouring for Teela's outfit to be repainted and sold to us a FOURTH time!

Statements:

Please don't try to pass Battleground Evil-Lyn off as a re-used hand and dress...she's a repaint with 2 new accessories: an alternate head and a cape. Bow comes with NA He-Man's boots and gauntlets (also a bad example, because that upset a bunch of people) and Optikk has 2 new heads, new shield, new gun, new armour. That's 5 new pieces. Evil-Lyn has 2. BIG difference.

Faceless one was awesome and MYP Evil-Lyn is very similar in design. Draego-Man also has her bracelets. Please don't pawn off BG Evil-Lyn with the parts-sharing nonsense. Look at BG Teela and the other variants. They all have at least 4 new pieces (EVERY character has at least 4 new pieces) BG Evil-Lyn has 2.

Lessons learned:

1) Never ask for a variant of a character again, because that's Mattel code for "repaint in different colours" (like Disco Skeletor) and then they say it's vintage charm and stuff (PR spin for being cheap).

2) It seems like Mattel purposely makes a character "wrong" the first time every now and then, so they can sell us a "correct" one later on...and Mattel wonders why sub sales are the lowest ever? Customers/fans losing faith in a company that doesn't get it right the first time, maybe? (She-Ra, King Hssss, Roboto, BG Evil-Lyn...as a few examples). We're not rich, but you are...and getting richer from the "mistakes."

Battleground Evil Lyn, available November 2011 only on Mattycollector.com (note she will have turning articulated wrist guards, an additional helmet-less head and a second swapable orb piece for her staff that glows in the dark!)

Say what now? If she has articulated wrist guards, then wouldn't that be additional tooling money used? Did anyone ask for this?

It seems like a waste of tooling dollars.

Evil Lyn looks Fing amazing in that photo! I can not wait to get her and her to me shelf. Evil Lyn is my all time favorite Masters character and I'm so happy with this figure. I saw her as SDCC and she's even better looking in person. I'd buy any Evil Lyn they make but if this was the only other figure she got I'd be happy.

I still 100% feel and believe what I posted, BUT if/when we get a PROPER MYP/200X Evil-Lyn, I will enjoy her as her depowered yellow Lyn form.

Since they're so gung-ho about reusing stuff, I'm thinking this would've been a perfect opportunity to make a better version of The Goddess: improved translucent plastic (or painted green), soft dress, new accessory...maybe the head that Mark Taylor designed. (My Goddess is broken and I only have one MOC that I'm refusing to open because it would eventually break again, unless I didn't pose her at all! ha!)

I was expecting a more 200X version too, but that color scheme, with the addition of the cape...

I think she looks amazing. Definitely one of my favorite reveals at Comic Con.

I have to say this is, in my opinion, the most amazing female figure shown for this line so far. The color actually gives the dress a different feel, and the overall design exudes a sexy kind of evil.... almost like a goth chick that is both alluring and frightening at the same time. I for one am very happy with this Evil Lyn. This is the perfect example of how a great paint job can make previously used parts look dramatically different.

For those who are annoyed about not getting a new dress with the new articulation, don't get your panties in a bunch... I'm sure she'll come down the road... and I'm sure people will find yet another reason to complain about her.

Has anyone considered that the toyline may need a few figures that are inexpensive and sell well so that their performance can justify greater things?

I think this Evil Lyn is absolutely brilliant. The repaint is phenomenal.

And yes, I will buy more variants of her later as well. She's a favorite character.

TERRY: Part of the feel and look of the vintage MOTU line has always been the strategic use of shared parts (Stinkor and Mer-Man anyone?). To help capture that feel in MOTUC, we very deliberately use shared parts in MOTUC even when sometimes a new part could be called for. Bow and Optikk are both great example of this. It is part of the look and feel of the brand.

Yeah, I like how the cost saving company turns this around and says that fans want a lot of shared parts.

That was great in the 80's, but not now. I think fans are more happy to get new parts on a figure than rehashed pieces. I mean who really wants another Teela outfit over a new outfit for a character that has already been released?

The reason most fans even request/mention used parts is because they are afraid that the line will be in danger because of cost......not because they really want them.

So when a new part could be called for, Mattel...........USE IT!

I think that makes too much sense. Make a new version of a figure where 75+ % of them broke? 2/3 (Teela and the Goddess) were barely poseable because of rock hard plastic dresses? Yeah, lets repaint that another time instead of addressing the issues.

There's also the panty-flashing when turned to the side...

I would LOVE the Mark Taylor head. It's gorgeous. I'm still not certain why we got the helmet head we did. *shrugs* The MT one could fit under the snake headdress...

It is common knowledge the the use of shared parts is a big selling point for this (still) small toyline to exist. Instead of fighting it, they embrace it as part of the nostalgic "classic style". The shared parts aspect is a necessary evil. We need to embrace it, as well. We can't have our cake and eat it, too. And geez, we're getting lots of sweets as is!

arms legs and body is one thing but the same dress over and over and over and over is a little much
