Mattel brought it up with this message. You KNEW how the 200X fans were going to react before you clicked on the thread.
I agree. A sick part of me hopes Granamyr is a 24 inch solid red Teela from the neck down, with a new Granamyr head, Whiplash tail and new fire accessory...and see how the people happy with all the Teela repaints react.

Someone at the Comic Con from the Mattel Team TOTALLY told me that the reason behind Evil Lyn's lack of new tunic was a budgetary reason.

    Which I understand. Fine.

But knowing that, when I read that line about the ''Inspiration behind the design", it made me smile. It's a bit pompous for talking about the repaint of a dress that's been milked already on 3 other characters!

It's still a beautiful figure, don't get me wrong. There's so much negativity around the forum these last few days, that I wanted to state clearly that 1) I did find the figure strikingly beautiful at the Comic Con. 2) I was buying one in November.

I still would have prefered for them to push her back a little bit to allow her to benefit from the new female buck but maybe it's all for the best! Hopefully we'll get a Teela Evil Lyn and Adora three packs with the new buck and the two part outfits. Make it 60 dollars and people can even blame them for the decrease of subs in 2013!

I think Evil-Lyn is the best female character the line has produced so far. She looks fantastic!

I am not buying that BATTLEGROUND Evil Lyn was made before Battleground Teela. Unless this Evil Lyn has been sitting on the four horsemen's shelves for over a year.

Battleground Teela came out in June as a quarterly variant. Yet Battleground Evil-Lyn is in November?

Also the battleground name for Evil Lyn may have come from BG Teela...but if they planned both of these figures as BG figures, the 2.0 body would be in production.

There is no excuse that BG Evil Lyn's body couldn't have been changed once the 2.0 body came out, she wasn't in production yet, because BG Teela came out 5 months before BG Evil Lyn is coming out.

If you made a BG Evil Lyn last year and bumped her over and over to another slot, then update her to use the 2.0 body you had when BG Teela came out.

She obviously wasn't already produced because there were no carded BG Evil Lyn's on display at SDCC. If she had already been mass produced (because of being pushed back over and over). We would have seen a carded figure.

Just my two cents on this not very convincing story.

Nope it's not a 200X EL. But I do not care.

    That figure is perfect regardless.

I personally am disappointed in BG Evil-Lyn. I was disappointed in the first EL sharing the same dress with Teela, but thought I'd just live with it since we were getting another version down the road. Now the second version shares the same dress. I'm going to skip this one and hope that a third version is released down the road.

It's pretty funny, actually. I remember when the Evil-Lyn prototype pictures were shown (the yellow version) and I thought she was stunning and loved her. She got a LOT of hate for having the SAME Teela outfit and being yellow. She's exactly what I expected (although the prototypes colours and paint job were much better)...and I was sticking up for her left and right. Now, some of the people that were hating on her sharing the Teela outfit are hating on those who don't want a MOTUC figure to have that same outfit for the FOURTH time.

    Life is funny.

Honestly, I love how the new BG Evil-Lyn looks and I'm eagerly waiting for her, however, I thought she'll be using the new buck (She-Ra 2.0 buck/body), and this isn't the case here, how disappointing to learn that to tell you the truth!

Nonetheless, I still think she looks awesome, and looking forward for the better version down the road.

I have no trouble at all with BG Lyn. I actually consider the vintage Teela/Lyn outfit to be the female equivalent of the men's loincloth, so it doesn't bother me in the least if they reuse it a few more times.

I can only imagine the outrage by some if we end up with an Illumina that uses that outfit for a 5th time.

I am glad that Mattel addressed this issue in detail and provided with the explanation directly from the 4H. And although I will buy this version of Evil Lyn, I gotta say that it is a missed opportunity to do her right (200x vise). Ever since the first one was released we have been asking for the 200x version and they promised it. Thus, lot of fans expected she would sport the 200x outfit, not to reuse the old one again. I understand though that this makes financial sense. However, that doesn't change the fact that we have been given certain expectations which have not been met.

I would like to pause discussion a second to give big 'ol THANK YOU to the Horsemen and Mattel for something...

Ever since Teela 1.0 came out, we wanted differences in Evil-Lyn. One of the big things, for me at least, is how Teela's gauntlets are raised on the inside of her arms while the toy has them pointing outside. I always wanted this corrected on Evil-Lyn and BG Evil-Lyn DOES in fact have new tooling allowing her gauntlets to turn so we can point them whichever way we want, which can now be re-used for Teela!

    So a HUGE thank you!

Also it wouldn't be new tooling it is just not glued on...correct? The only reason the gauntlets don't move for Teela or Evil Lyn are because they were glued.

I am assuming the gauntlets are just not glued allowing them to be moved around her arm. I am surprised that Mattel didn't mention this at SDCC though.

It's a caption under the photo of BGEL on facebook supposedly, its stated the gauntlets turn:

Battleground Evil-Lyn, available November 2011 only on Mattycollector.com (note she will have turning articulated wrist guards, an additional helmet-less head and a second swapable orb piece for her staff that glows in the dark!)

yes and in toyfare grizzlor had 2 heads so till we see it don't trust it. they did not say that at SDCC or in the full letter that talked about her being a repaint not a retool and that would be a retool. and look at the pic on page 1 no new arms

Can anyone work this out? Either - she wasn't fan demanded (Mattel had it planned) or the bios aren't all planned out (as claimed).

Could this also mean that Battleground Evil-Lyn is also a character than just got squeezed into the line (let's face it - she doesn't look like any other version of Evil-Lyn) along with yet another Eternia-shattering bio (motherhood! loss of power!)?

    WELL!?
It is because TG makes stuff up as things move along. Based on answers to questions and conflicting statements I think Mattel is more reactive than proactive.

It IS a big deal for the fans who asked for 200X Evil-Lyn. 200X Evil-Lyn was specifically asked for because she wasn't wearing Teela's leotard. It's like asking for the smaller Prince Adam from MYP and getting the regular vintage Adam.

The difference between the same loincloths and the same leotard is that the leotard is the entire torso. At least the upper torso on the male characters are mostly all different armors/capes/vines.

It's comparable to many of the vintage males having the same He-Man body and harness from the neck down.

Had Mattel made BGEL right, we would be singing the song you'd like to hear.

Is it the fans' fault that Mattel screwed up a pretty simple concept to get right?

I've come to the realization that TG is making a toylike more for himself than for his customer base. TG needs to understand that without keeping the core fanbase happy the line and maybe other things are in jeopardy.

I'm with you. They utilized the existing tunic in a new satisfying way. I think she is beautiful and perfect. could care less about a 200x tunic.

This is a crap response and proof why the line is finally dwindling down for fans after these many years. Mattel has no care about what fans want and is always pawning off the excuse that "It's the Horsemen's fault" for anything we (the fans) don't like. Obviously Purple Evil Lynn (we won't dare speak the 2--X name) was a big figure that people wanted and when they were given such a terrible treatment the fans got upset. I don't think any figure has ever gotten so much heat that Mattel went to the Horsemen to have them explain why it was done so poorly and that fact alone speaks leaps and bounds as to 2--X Purple Evil Lyn's popularity and how much Mattel/Horsemen messed it up.

Oh well, the real Purple Lyn will just be another "possible foreseeable future" figure we can all look forward to I guess (like everything else we want) =/
