Originally it was supposed to be a spin off, but the idea was scrapped.
I have stumbled into a debate in my favorite MOTU/POP/NA facebook group Shadow Weaver's Realm. Apparently it's old news that Bravestarr was a second spin-off of He-Man, but I can't find any info anywhere online stating this.
The only thing I've been able to come up with is that Bravestarr evolved out of Filmation's Ghostbusters cartoon series: http://articles.latimes.com/1986-12-21/magazine/tm-3736_1_bravestarr-toy
According to this article, Tex Hex was developed for the Ghostbusters show, but Lou Scheimer liked him so much that he decided to develop an entire show around him - thus Bravestarr was born...
Does anybody have definitive information - or know where I could look to put this debate to rest, at least in my mind?

The original pilot script was suppose involve He-man and Skeletor. Bravestaff was suppose to exist in the same universe, but Filmation scrapped the idea.
I think its for the best.

Oh, I don't know. I think it would be kinda cool if He-Man and Bravestarr (and even Blackstar) were all in the same universe. It'd be neat to tie them all together somehow (plus I wouldn't mind those figures in MOTUC form if it were ever possible). Just my thoughts.

Well as far as I'm concerned, Bravestarr should have little to nothing to do with He-Man, intention or no.
But Blackstar's world? Hehehe, yeah, that should be officially Eternia's predecessor!
I don't remember if Skeletor was there as well, but yes, He-Man would have appaeared in the pilot and Bravestarr was going to be inspired by him.
It's in a old Filmation document. I don't remember if we showed it in the DVD, but I'm pretty sure it was me or Busta disclosing this information![]()

I'd like it to be the same universe, it would be a good way to make Rio Blast relevant to MOTU. I'd love figures of Vypra and Stampede!

Perhaps he happens (or could happen) when He-Man & She-Ra go to the future. They meet Rio-Blast & he ends up going back to Eternia with them after they save Primus from the Horde & Mutants. Then Bravestarr could meet He-Man, be inspired by him, & go on to be the newest hero.
...At least it makes sense to me.
(Too bad it was Galoob that made the Blackstar toys instead of Mattel, or we could potentially have all 3 series made in the MOTUC.)

What about a new thread: 'Is He-Man a spin-off of Blackstar' ?![]()
That would be a "NO."
As far as Skeletor being there or not, I'll bow to Emiliano's knowledge. I just remember I casually saw that somewhere a long long time.
I'm kind of glad it didn't go that way. Blackstar had it's own vibe and style. It was really cool, but I just don't think they would really work together cuz they are so similar.

Blackstarr was the building blocks for the flimation cartoon. James busta would tell the story better I'm sure.
