    Tomart's Mammoth Hordesman Speculation thread

Was just thinking that this guy would be a neat addition to the line and that he needed a speculation thread.

I think that it would be cool if he was Gygor/Shadow Beast sized (possibly use their buck) and hairy like Grizzlor.

Very cool character, but one elephant trunk in this line is one too many already.
    Thanks Mangs.

Forgive my ignorance, but is he a fan created character?

No it was originally a concept drawing in the Tomart magazine. I think there was a contest in the fan art forum to create a character from the concept. Thats when I came up with Gortusk. Im trying to find the original concept art

EDIT: Here it is! Top left

See? More reason to figure out the rights to all this Tomart's stuff. I'd buy this guy!
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

Let's just take a moment to remind ourselves of the number of extant Hordesmen, most of whom have actually appeared outside of an obscure magazine article on unused designs, there are

So why does Mattel NOT have the right to make these concepts? I never caught the reasoning. Wouldn't all of these concepts have been created while the artist was working for Mattel, hence Mattel should own them?

Okay, Reboot, consider me reminded. I don't care though; I like and would buy this guy. So...Nyah!

And the artist may or may not have done these "on the clock," thus the confusion, Jon.

    Yes.

The trouble is that they can't prove they were created on Mattel's own dime since they no longer have any record of them.

    Ah, okay. Thanks.

I prefer the Gortusk concept more, but at least I think I've got the idea behind the character.

He looks decent in Tomart form...to be honest this is what I always wished good old Snout Spout looked like, only more heroic looking. But yeah, is there ever such a thing as too many bad guys?

I'd probably prefer him regular sized, purely because I'm not sure if the Gygor/Shadowbeast buck would be ideal for the legs and arms, and I don't know if he would work as a full-fledged giant, purely because there are more desireable figures that could be made in giant form, and too many giants in this line would probably not be preferable for many fans, I'd imagine.

That's a pretty cool looking character. tbh he's no more obscure to me than most of that list of Horde members...I have no idea who most of them are.

It's so sad when a guy's tusks hang lower than his trunk.

Haha, I read “mammoth” to mean big, not an actual mammoth.

This character is cool. But almost everything about the Horde is cool so it’s no surprise. Maybe that’s what Snout spout becomes after he is infected with the Horde’s techo-organic virus?

I think he'd be cool, and an easy reuse of Grizzlor parts. Of course there are tons of other Horde we can and probably will get, but this would still be cool. I guess the window for these concept characters in the line is closing now that we have so many Filmation and media characters to choose from. But if they ever get that other cartoon going, I think these ideas should be looked at and reincorporated alongside the other.

No thanks, he reminds me too much of Grizzlor. This would be Grizzlors and Snout Spouts illegitimate child.

Looks alot like Grizzlor minus the head. Not bad at all.
Maybe Marzo as an archenemy was the biggest thing to happen to Mekaneck, but as far as Marzo was concerned...it was Tuesday.

After some more core and extant Horde Members and if he's done à la Iceman: yes!
