I've said it before, the opposite of love is apathy, not hate. And nothing gets to 50 pages with just apathy. I'm kind of freaked by how familiar TMS is getting (ignoring the Deadpool comparisons for a minute), as if I've seen the purple, yellow, and spade together in a child's drawing back when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure I didn't know Scott, and yet there is some kind of connection here.

I'm not an apologist though, people have a right to feel how they feel about this.

True, but I've personally grown apathetic to the figure. it 'essentially' doesn't exist for me. I'm not getting the 30th sub and I'm cool with missing out on a figure in the line. Sure I've made some passionate arguments against the figure, but essentially that was more aimed at those who can't see why people don't like him (I can see both sides but I understand the dislike more than the like) and why IMO he doesn't fit into MOTU. it's not the concept it's the execution and name.

Considering the 2 Battleground characters are 2 of the more controversial characters made for this line so far(although Spector & Snake Man Duncan might be even more so), I'd suggest staying away from any future Battleground characters. This is coming from someone who really likes Battleground Evil-Lyn.

If it was only the figure and it would be referred to as "what Scott did" - being a standalone creation without any relation to the mythos - I'd be fairly indifferent about it. It would be very easy to ignore and I wouldn't buy it, case closed. However, I can not be indifferent about "what Scott did" if it's intruding in the story I have known and loved since I was 2 years old.

King Grayskull intruded on the story that most of us grew up with(both mini-comics & Filmation). Keldor changed what most of us knew to be true(unless you happened to read what one of the last mini-comics subtly alluded to). Fisto as Teela's father was different from both of Teela's previous origins. Not only has Spector not been the first character to change what we originally thought(or for some people, ruined MOTU canon for them), we don't even know what his bio says. Personally, I no longer consider the bios as anything close to MOTU canon, but for those who care about them, let's wait until it's actually released.

Well KG and the Fisto as teela's dad thing are very controversial topics (particularly the fisto angle) What's funny is both those plot points were created by another mattel employee who wanted to be a writer and most of his creative inputs were generally disliked by fans, or at least met with controversy. His 'creative input' showed in many cases and the board if I recall correctly mainly disliked the things he was writing. seems Mattel likes to hire wanna be writers as their brand managers.

Personally, I no longer consider the bios as anything close to MOTU canon, but for those who care about them, let's wait until it's actually released.

yeah I read them out of curiousity, but they mean very little to me - unless they give hints at future toys. a few bios I dig though and don't mind them being canon.

I watched the MYP toon at the time, but I didn't come by here at all. Mattel forced Grayskull and Fisto as Teela's dad on MYP due to one of their people handling the franchise? Was it the guy that ToyGuru replaced?

I liked Mighty Spector when I saw the first images, after seeing it in person at NYCC I really like him. My only criticism is they should have gone heavier on the playing card motif.

I'm a sucker for characters in media! I'd hate on TM Spector too but the minute I saw him in a mini comic interacting with everybody I'd have to have him! When I heard someone say he fits with the NA crew the best I was sold on him! I don't have the 30th side sub but I like Photog, Drago-Man, and Spector has grown on me. I like what I see so far. I can't wait to see the last three!

Yes I agree, even though the "not so" Mighty Spector isnt an immediate fav of mine, he is growing on me. After Photog and Draego my expectations were pretty high, so maybe thats why I felt..... "myahhh" towards the lil fella? Now this WILL all change if they end up revealing that his real name is Spade Spillson....
if thats the case, then he's back on my "UM NO" list.
