The MOTUC Castle Grayskull

If someone such as Spy Monkey Creations or a similar company made a skull faced castle facade that was in scale with the MOTUC figures but looked just different enough from Castle Grayskull that Mattel couldn't sue them, would you buy it?

Would it be worth them producing it? Could it realistically be done?

No, It should be an official CG sculpted by the 4H and sold by Mattel.

If it was different to the point that Mattel couldn't sue, then chances are it doesn't look enough like Castle Grayskull and probably wouldn't be worth buying.

Could it reallistically be done? Sure, third party companies do this sort of thing all the time. Just look at all the third party Transformers stuff that gets made. Would it be worth it? Probably not as it would be very expensive to produce even if it's just a facade. A smaller toy company isn't going to have the same resources at hand that Mattel would and a smaller production run would further drive up costs. It's not a bad idea, it's just one that is likely not going to happen, and if it did, people wouldn't pay a high price tag for what would basically be a glorified backdrop.

I wouldn't but any Castle Grayskull in scale with the Classics line for the same reason I didn't buy a Wind Raider - simply too large for the space I have for my collection.

No way. In fact, I sold all my SMC stuff. (Don't get me wrong-it's all great, but mine is a legit-Mattel collection.)

I doubt that Mattel would let a third party make their legendary CG. I know it happens all the time, but if TG and the 4H love MOTU, they wouldn't let it happen. It's the Mount Everest of toy playsets.

yes, of course. That one that has been made that is incredibly expensive is worth the money, if only I had it.

That and I dont expect to get a new Castle Grayskull.

That and I realized I would actually rather have a new Snake Mountain. At least 200x Gave us a new Grayskull. I need a new Snake Mountain, a mix of Filmation/200x and the Vintage toy.

As long as it was great.

nah...honestly, i hope the 4H are working on a prototype already...if for no other reason than to go out with a bang if the line comes to a premature end.

I gotta say if it's not Mattel I probably wouldn't like it... Would I buy it if there was no other CG around... Probably No.

I have limited space as it is. Castle Grayskull would be much too large. If there were one to be made, it would have to be made by Mattel.

I would. If it were done to my liking for a reasonable price and served as the kind of display/diorama that I want for my figs, then hell's yeah. It could be called Greenfang Fortress but if it was a groovy display piece then I wouldn't care. Then if and when Mattel got around to doing a right and proper Castle GS then woo-hoo, the more the merrier.

I would absolutely buy a CG from someone else if it looked good and the price was right. Why not? Support someone else with talent.

I will not buy an in-furor castle grayskull just to have one. I would go without. I would buy if it holds up to my standards.

Very tough question. But ultimately, I just can't see a way a 3rd party could make a CGS close enough to what I need without Mattel easily being 8able to sue.
