    Their killin teh lien!

I have read this many times here on the boards, but English is not my first language and I know this is an expression or something related to MotU...

Could someone explain the meaning, its use here on the boards and where does it come from?

    Thank you

It comes from "they are killing the line". It was a cry of frustration back in 2003 when over stock of Spin Blade He-Man and neon orange and gold colored repaint figures prevented most stores from stocking Teela, Evil Lyn Two-bad or any NEW product. If you are familiar with the word "Pwned" it is much like that, where someone would quickly and in anger type "Pwned" while meaning to type "owned". These days "Their killin teh lien!" is said in humor.

To add to what LFE said, I think board member hadley is the one who started the joke.

wow, thank you all! this is the kind of information newbies like me need from "older" orgers

Could you find the initial joke? Is this used only in he-man.org?

I study History of Art, so I guess this kind of research is part of being a historiographer (doeas this word exist in English?)

    Thank you again

    Killin teh lien

A fellow orger just asked me where the phrase "killin teh lien" came from.

I couldn't give him an answer.

Now that's the lien has not been killed, can anyone help me understand exactly where this panic-ridden phrase came from? I really want to know!

Me too. The asinine spelling reminds me of something from icanhascheeseburger.com.

I've seen this phrase also on old LEGO forums back in the early 2000s! So, I'm just thinking it's a common phrase among collectors every where!

Somebody... somewhere... wrote it first... hands trembling with terror.

We know their fear, but we will never know them.

It's a fairly old phrase that's used for the over active typer that never spell checks.
Basically it's the panic button reaction that some get, it's been around for a long time, I have no clue as to where it started.

We know it's meaning & why the phrase is thus spelt, we just don't know it's origin.

Agreed. "Killin teh lien" is laaaaaaaame.

"Taken for the ass," on the other hand, ranks up there with Shakespeare and Euripides.

Ha ha yeah. That's much better for sure. Considering we have all been "taken for the ass" from time to time but none of us are "Killin teh lien". We want to "Sav teh lien".
