Thanks . I absolutely understand your critique! In fact you are not the first to mention curved crossguards. My first try on the sowrds came out like this because I modelled them after this picture where they are nearly straight:

But I can surprise you with my 2.0 Version of the swords with curved crossguards(I will start an extra thread for them soon):

What's the general quality of these prints like? Are they smooth? Sturdy? I assume it comes in one color and you have to paint it.
Yes, I made them through www.shapeways.com.

Here is the link to my shop where you can find all my stuff.

You are right, you have to paint them. The least expensive material is flexible and a little rough but the paint sticks really well to it and it does not rubb off if you put the swords in the figures' hands. But you can also choose a polished material that costs a little bit more.

Hey! I had not seen this one yet! A great idea! Are there any pics where you can see this spear thingy completely?

Well done, Evilmike! The swords looked great. I picked up a version of each and they look incrediable. Shapeways' new flexible polished material really makes them stand out great. Can't wait to see what other items you create.

Printed? Huh? Forgive my ignorance...please explain to me how you print a three-dimensional object.

I'm being totally serious, as I'm not computer savvy. I still do artwork the old fashioned way, with paint, brushes and canvas.

I'll get some pics of the "White, Strong, &Flexible - Polished" up tonight. It really smooths out the cutting marks on the WS&F.

It's a shame that on that Shapeway site. You couldn't have them make a full size sword. That would be cool!

True... Unless... is there a way to scale up the dimensions of the sculpt?

Here are pics of the strong, white, flexible -polished. In the second pic, you can see that the cut marks are not present but you can see some of the surface imperfections. But they aren't really noticeable to the naked eye.

The SW&F polished does cost a little bit more than just the SW&F but I think its worth it.

Evilmike, I haven't tried the transparent material yet, have you tried painting it yet? Does it take clear paints or inks very well?

Hey the "W,S&F polished" material looks really good. I think, I'm going to try it too next time.

The transparent material takes the paint quite good. I had no problems painting it but although I have not tested yet I think, that paint could rubb off more easily than with "W,S&F".

By the way, here is the latest model I finished at the weekend. I will order it today and see how it comes out. Anybody recognizes it?

We have a winner!!! Yes, it's Zodak's 200X staff. I thought it could be nice to have one that is more cartoon accurate.

Thanks^^. I haven't tried heads so far. Theoretically it is possible but I think that my skills are not sufficient for something like that.

    The 2.0 versions are PERFECT!

Do you think it's possible to print a 2.0 sword in 1:1 scale (80 cm) ?
    PLEASE!!!!

    How much would cost?

FYI, Shapeways is having a sale on their White Strong Flexible material. 20.11% off.

Now's the time to buy those EvilMike weapons you've been wanting!

(Update: Unfortunately, the White Strong Flexible Polished is not on sale. Rats!)

Hey thanks for the info, Snakeeyes!

Really unfortunate that the polished material ist not available.
But I can recommend the Zodak Staff! That one is great in "white, strong & flexible". IMO no need for the polished material.
