    — Showing Snake MAA before all his parts are available for show
    — Showing Spector before his weapons were ready
    — Showing Thunder He-Nan incomplete with full armor and all accessories
    — Showing Leech with a with head on incorrectly
    — Showing a number of figures being held together by putty or loose adhesives

The presentation is terrible for such a corporate icon in the toy industry.
Sometimes, MOTUC appears to using this site as a test group for the line.

The anger here could be avoided periodically, if the figures were not rushed for presentation. This would solve many of "knee-jerk reactions getting out of control."

A diplomatic medium, the answer is yes and no.

people would still have knee jerk reactions. they'd just be based on the complete figure/accessories.

showing it early gives matty lead time in case MOST fans hate it or gives a suggestion that matty likes.

btw, knee-jerk reaction isn't by definition negative. it's just someone's initial/automatic reaction to something. someone could have a GOOD knee-jerk reaction to something, then think about it/learn something new about it and change their mind.

I agree with your initial statement, but the latter caused me to pause.

Saying upfront that more things are coming would have helped quell much of the anger toward this figure. So far we have an alternate head to look forward to, but knowing Mattel, it's probably one of MAA's existing heads.

If someone doesn't follow Mattel as closely as most of us do I'd agree, but half the time we get reveals there ends up being some change(whether it's color, an addition, or the loss of something) before the toy is actually mailed out.

People overreact all the time, and sometimes it doesn't make sense, the way I look at it if you buy the sub you are not knowing what you get but a few figures before you have to buy it. Then when a figure like Snake MAA pops up, OH MY GOD THE WORLD EXPLODED! well....you bought the sub, but with many before it's like I'm OK with anything I get, then SMAA appears....then (BOOM!) that shouldn't be included why...what...... ..... .... I don't want that in my sub.....seriously? You bought a sub....not knocking all those who did, just a statement towards the ones actually complaining about a blind figure, that hmmm wasn't something you wanted...but you knew what you were getting into when you bought the sub...GET OVER IT already. I for some odd reason actually like SMAA, maybe it's because I still don't have the original release....but this is why I don't buy subs, I don't want all, I don't need all, and I sure don't want to pay for something I'll never like to look at..ever. Therefore I will never be one of those complaining when they have to shell out bucks for a unneeded, or unwanted figure.

I am guilty of overreacting in life situations at times, when they immediately affect me.....but sorry it will never happen for a toy, no matter how much I like or don't like it.

And for those who don't like something, and immediately light the torches, and get out the bloodhounds....relax, just because you don't like something, there are possibly 1000 more that do.....so hate it if you wish....but take a Ritalin before posting, and leave the Red Bull, coffee, and 5 Hour Energy at the store.

And as far as showing incomplete figures.....at least you get a look at what's coming.....but what I do think is, there should be an at least semi-complete accessory list for a figure being shown, and possibly WIP pics or something, and some working knowledge about what is "in the budget" so things like Draego Man don't happen (how can Mr. Brand Manager not know this, he deals with it every day)....Hey look at all we get!, nah, just a tease to get you hooked, then we pull on the line and take away your favorite accessory...Bwaa Ha Ha...but hey there's always a Weapons Pack to explore later!....maybe ha ha. Transformers get shown at conventions all the time unfinished, in nothing but primer or gray plastic...soooooo why can't they show that...or would there be a big blow up about that too, because you don't get to see the final colors or something....whatever, you get what you get from Mattel....imploding on the board won't change that.

Again not knocking sub buyers, because most of you know and expect things like SMAA to pop up, and deal accordingly with it, but some people, like the post, "Petition! PUT OUT OF Monthly Subscription Snake Man-at-Arms" really? not going to happen, you bought it already when you signed up.....deal. Crap like that is what gives others bad names, and starts divides.

Want an example of what Knee Jerk(s) reactions do....look up Prohibition...and see how well that worked out. Loud mouths may get you heard, but they can also make you look like an ass.

Are knee-jerk reactions getting out of control? Yes, but not in the way you think. Some people are far too worried about the line ending and therefore dislike any criticism at all and attack others for that criticism and call it invalid.

Just state how you feel about the toy, and move on.

I honestly find people complaining about others opinions being different to be shameful and disruptive. If you disagree with a concept, say so, but whining about others having a different viewpoint is just being argumentative and irrationally negative. (irony noted)

If somebody wants to start a thread to change or remove Demo-Man from the line (my favorite upcoming figure) for any reason whatsoever, so be it. It's no skin off my back, they are free to think what they want about the figure. The most I would do it say I like him, I wouldn't make an emotional rant about how that persons opinion about the figure should be quelled and is out of control.

I have to disagree. There wasn't a "taken for the ass" thread for the Griffin. It was a discussion and seemed more civil, imo.

what bothers me about the reactions is how they dont seem to be positive constructive criticisims.

Suggest, as you said, things you would like to see. Add this, paint it this way, change that. That's cool

But this "do this or it's stupid waste of time." or "this is the worst figure ever."

Keep that to yourselves. You dont have to like it, but it's of much more value to at least mention what you'd like to have seen than detract something that you dont have to buy in the first place. If it's so bad and you have a sub, you know you can sell it.

I just want things polite. Discuss, share your opinion. But at least try to add something to the discussion.

    that's where I stand.

I want things too. I keep saying them, every time the topic comes up. I dont always get them. I lament that, openly. But what is served to act like a petulant child about it?

you can be unhappy and vocal without it comming off childish and worse yet, pointless.

That's not even bringing up the other point, it's so impatient. Voice your fears, but temper them with the knowledge that it may not be so bad as you think, based on some blurry pictures that often dont even have all the accessories pictured, or features, or whatever.

Are the knee-jerk reactions getting out of control?
Toyguru has stated that Snake Man-At-Arms will NOT come with a second head.

I don't think that 'knee-jerk' reactions are necessarily a bad thing. As with every single, solitary debate that has lead to heated arguments, it's the tone and way people choose to express themselves. Baronterror and others have hit the nail on the head. Don't like something? Feel free to say you don't like it.

"This figure is a piece of crap, the person who made it is a piece of crap, and if you like it, YOU are a piece of crap" is not the way to go about it.

The problem with people not having 'knee-jerk' reactions is that people who sit on their hands and wait for change are usually sitting there for a while.
Sadly, you can't divorce emotion from a toyline based on nostalgia.

Yes…there are too many NEGATIVE knee-jerk reactions. Negative isn't always bad, as we've seen it can be constructive. But, there's some that like to just be so negative and offer no constructive criticism at all that it's just offensive.

Unfortunately, knee-jerk reactions will always outweigh those who do have patience. However, patience is the companion of wisdom...

Totally yes. People are jumping up and down and getting on dandwagons before the dust has settled on many issues. People need to take a deep breathe before smashing new releases and think about maybe every once in a while putting down what they like not just all the negative...
    We don't need no education...

Yes you do, you've just used a double negative!

I have less of a problem with knee jerk reactions than I do the non-stop trashing of the same targets by the same people. The mean spiritedness is bad enough, but when people try to be "clever" by getting the names of toys, characters, or people wrong, I picture them behind their keyboard doing this...

I know this site celebrates a franchise made for kids, but do we have to act like kids still?

I guess it depends on your view of what a knee-jerk reaction is. Defined, a knee-jerk reactive is an instinctive reflex. It's not a calculated response or thought out much. In terms of the relation to MOTUC, I assume the intention is to equate knee-jerk reaction to those initial responses that state a figure is bad for some reason. Of course, anyone who initially posts positive comments shortly after seeing a just revealed figure is also guilty of expressing a knee-jerk reaction.

You can't please everyone, so knee-jerk reactions will always be commonplace. Out of hand, well some yes, the attacking other people reactions are getting out of hand but I believe the mods are doing a great job of cutting those out. Opinions are always important, and when we sepnd this kind of bank on products, we expect them to be produced quite well. I think it just depends on the situation really.

I think we should just hug. My son plays with my MOTUC and I don't think he cares about the spot of blue paint on the glove of my Merman repaint. I think he's just happy playing with toys. I understand these guys are expensive and that at times the customer service makes you want to stab a hobo...but come on they're action figures. No point losing sleep or getting an ulcer.
