    Buying nothing until after Christmas...

So my family has an agreement that each year starting in October, we can't buy anything for ourselves, unless it's something we really need right away. This helps us come up with things to shop for at Christmas. This year it's really painful to see October, November AND December go by, and not buy a single figure! Come January I'll no doubt have a lot of catching up to do.

Any other Orgers in a similar situation?

Nothing written in stone, but we do buy less for ourselves around this time.

I'd suggest giving people the figures you want as items to buy for you for X-Mas.

I won't stop buying anything and everything, but the two or three things I'd want the most (usually books or dvds) I don't buy in the fall, or even late summer, just so people will have something to give me for Xmas.

I would not be able to hold myself to a no buying agreement. Not a chance lol.

It's sort of an unofficial policy I've started for myself--just so I can have something to ask my family members for. They usually want ideas.

This year, I'm going to ask for X-Men First Class and Captain America DVDs.

I'm with you. If someone else was buying them as gifts for me I could wait until Dec...but there's no way I'd just let those months roll buy and hope I get a good deal on ebay later.

Well, I'll put it to you this way, I have 3 favorite things in this world, the 1st being alcohol, the next being action figures, and the 3rd...well, is inappropriate to talk about on this forum, so with that, everything else takes a back seat around this time so I can buy Christmas presents for my loved ones. So no clothes, no dvd'd, no video games, no going out to dinner, no bars, (cheaper to drink at home), and no wild times in Vegas.

    Not me. I never stop.

I always plan ahead so I don't have to "starve" myself during the holiday season to make sure I have enough money.

IMO putting off purchasing your items only ruins the holiday season for yourself. That makes no sense to me.

My advice is to plan ahead and stick to a budget when it comes to the holidays.

Need to slow down as well. Bought 2 tailored suits this month, a new pair of Koil's and had a little Desigual shopping.spree on Monday ... luckily I only nedd Icarius this month, so at least that was cheap. But I also have twins, so Xmas will be steep this year. Only the thought of a second Swifty for my daughter, and I'm already getting sweats ... delivery to EU is heavy (

'Tis the season, save bucks to spend on others. Buy it when I want it ends this time of year so patience is a virtue, whatever that means...

our fam does the exact opposite... we don't exchange presents we feel that Christmas shouldnt be about giving gifts...more just spending time and having fun with loved one... so we just get a mess a food and pig out xmas eve...

We don't buy a lot for ourselves to begin with, so we don't follow this policy. But even if we did, MOTUC would be exempt. It's just not worth the hassle and extra money to "catch up" by intentionally skipping them. Neither my mom nor my wife want me to spend extra money to get what I wanted anyway. Plus, my mom isn't as familiar with how to order online and my wife works a lot, so with Matty's track record it wouldn't be that great of an idea. Also, I have the sub, so there's not much they could get for me anyway.

That and we're pretty much done anyway. We start Christmas shopping Dec 26th and do little by little through the year, so we're usually done by this time of year.
