That's why I fear MotU's future in the movies at Sony depends on Spider-man. And it's not a good thing.
    So far so good, internationally.

The Amazing Spider-Man also got off to a strong $51.1 million start, most of which came from mighty debuts throughout Asia. The movie opened stronger than than Spider-Man 3 and The Avengers in South Korea ($13.4 million), and it was also impressive in Japan ($11.4 million). Thanks to the presence of Bollywood star Irrfan Khan, Spider-Man scored the biggest debut ever for a Hollywood movie with $6 million in India. It also had one of the best openings ever in the Philippines ($3.2 million), Hong Kong ($2.7 million), Singapore ($2.9 million) and Thailand ($1.9 million). Outside of Asia, its only major market was Germany, where it netted a comparatively-modest $4.2 million. The Amazing Spider-Man is set to open on Tuesday in the U.S., and it will likely be reaching the rest of its foreign markets over the next week or two.

With talk now of Marvel producing a "Guardians of the Galaxy" film next year, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Sony is paying more attention to getting "Masters of the Universe" developed right now.

It would be really cool to bring MOTU back in the big screen.

Spider-Man should do fine. It should gross between 750 and 800 million worldwide, no problem. Sony will make money on the film. The film they should be pretty concerned about, IMO, is the Total Recall remake. Even though the newest trailer did a much better job of showing off the film’s nice visuals and action, I can’t forget the fact that Sony has wildly overspent on it (200 million dollar budget). I think it may find it hard come August.

And yes, Guardians of the Galaxy is pretty much confirmed. It’s an odd and daring move by Marvel. Could turn into something really special. Excited for that one.

If you click on the "Clients" link at the bottom and then "Project List" it takes you to "Current Projects" which lists Masters of the Universe live-action film.

    EDIT

This guy's name was giving me deja vu, so I decided to search his name on here. Totally forgot I posted this thread back in 2010.

I'm not sure what to think now. What do you folks think?

Well, the list has "He-Man" listed seperately and then Akira live-action film which is on hold, I don't think it is really saying much.

BTW: Bob Orci stated on trekmovie.com that he heard that work is being done on a "He-Man" movie.

So this would actually mean what? Most funny thing for me is that we are always waiting every movie by Sony Pictures and some others to succeed (in hope of MOTU to be green light) Let me just name a few movies: Transformers, Gi Joe, Conan, Smurfs, The Amazing Sipder Man, John Carter (which flopped mostly because the character was unknown to general public) and etc... Years passed by and still nothing

Thanks for posting. Maybe the website just hasn't been updated and it’s referring to the film when it was at WB? Also, is it just that one piece of art? I quite like that, TBH. I know a lot of He-Man fans wouldn't, but I like the look they were (still are?) going for.

When did he say that? Can you post a link if possible?

EDIT: This is an interview with him dated from last month. He mentions that he worked on MOTU whilst it was at WB, so I assume his website just hasn't been updated. This is what he says about He-Man: I teamed up with Albert Hughes again as I was doing concept art on his live-action version of Akira. Some stuff like this people won't ever see, though. Kind of like the Master of the Universe movie I was designing for Warner Brothers and director John (kung fu panda) Stevenson.

Anyway, here's the interview if you're interested: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansit.../news/?a=61852

EDIT: Interesting that the He-Man picture is dated 2012. I just tweeted him to see if that's a current piece or if it was for when WB had the rights. Let's see if he get's back to me.

    891. Have nit considered He-Man. I believe someone else is attempting that."

    From here: http://trekmovie.com/2012/04/30/majo...ers-confirmed/

It's not much, but it at least shows that a major Hollywood screenwriter (Orci) is aware of work being done on MotU movie.
