Classic 80ís toy inspired Mer-Man in MOTUC! Yeah or Nay!

Would you like a classic toy version of Mer-Man in the MOTUC line?

I personally would love to see this figure. I know that many people prefer the card art look. But surely there can be room for this guy too. Just pretend he is one of Mer-Man's mer-men goons or something.

Classic 80's toy inspired Mer-Man had orange shorts and no gloves/boots. I think the yellow shorts were a fail for MotUC Mer-Man.

I voted "YEAH!!!" because a fellow fan (maybe more) wants it. Although it doesn't matter to me personally, I'd buy it for my small MOC collection. Looks really cool too, so that helps.

    Cheers!

Always having something 'toy-accurate' is not necessarily a good thing. Mer-Man is a great example. The vintage toy looks nothing like how Mer-Man is supposed to look. The great thing about the classics line is that they are upgrades of the vintage toys and art, and they are making them the way the toys should/could have been if toys in the 80s were better. I think Mer-Man is as toy-inspired as he ever needs to be.

That said, I'm not totally against this as I'm a proponent of Mer-Men/Ocean Warrior Army Builders. I suppose no gloves or boots could be a possible design choice for one of them.

had to say nay because that just isnt any different than what we have. I think that many times toys dont accurately represent what they are supposed to, but that's ok. They're toys.

But sometimes you are lucky enough to get what the toy would have been if they put the time and money into making it accurately what it was representing. I think that's what we got in MOTUC.

    Pass.

If we were to get a third mer-man, I want one that looks like his filmation design. That was different and unique enough to be worthwhile.

    I'm good on Mer-Man. I don't want a Filmation version either.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

The only thing that needs to change is the furry shorts. That can be done with a $3 paint marker from AC Moore.

No need to spend another $20 unless they really made him look good!

Whoops! Missed the feet. Paint thinner and/ or another $3 paint marker can do that too!

i feel the need of something new, and specially new figures like horde troopers and such.

Looking at that merman really feels like old news, i'd hate to see such thing being produced, kinda makes me feel the same way when i look at snake MAA.

Nah. The original designs for vintage Mer Man did have yellow gloves and ankle cuffs, but were dropped to make the figure cheaper to produce. There is the difference of loin-cloth colour, but to be honest, as much as I like Mer Man, I haven't really lost any sleep over it.
We've had regular Mer Man and 2-pack Mer Man,that's enough for me personally, to be honest.
