    SKELETOR Mask (Updated Oct 23)

I'm making a SKELETOR mask for another member, and I thought I'd post the Progress Reports here.

COMPLETE!!! Here he is with the burlap hood and everything!

Will the lower jaw be detatched?

    Very nice work Vahn!

I like your workspace too! I sooooooo want a workshop dedicated to customizing with a whole slew of paint and sculpey assortments, racks and all the little tools. (Even if I never use them/have no clue what they're for...LOL) I'd have it all orgainzed and if, say, I needed acrylic Crimson Red #59, I'd pretend I was shopping at the store when grabbing it from its special spot on the rack.

Wasn't there a living faces that looked like that? I remember wearing it a few years in a row. Even the six-sided crack between the eyes looks familiar. Only real difference is that one had "R.I.P." across the forehead. The jaw detached on that one also.

It has a center resemblance to the Deatheater's mask from the Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire movie. It can be seen in one of the trailers but I can't remember offhand which one.

Where can you get magic-sculpt? I'm having trouble finding it in my location.

    Also...

Has anyone ever used bondo to sculpt with? 'Cause bondo was suggested to me to make the chestplate and armor for my movie Skeletor costume. And I don't know how one goes about doing that.

Take a close look at your SKELETOR figure (HORSEMEN sculpt), all of the details come directly from that. I had to modify proportions slightly (no human could fit in a mask as narrow as the new SKELETOR), and tweak it a bit (the bones that form the eye sockets are sharper on mine, not as bulky).

Very similar. In fact that's the mask that I used the first time I dressed as SKELETOR, and that's what inspired me to sculpt my own.

The six sided crack is actually from 4H SKELETOR. The Living Faces one had a horizontal crack across the brow through the R.I.P. I hated that R.I.P., it ruined an otherwise flawless mask.

I get mine from Tap Plastics. If there aren't any out there, you should be able to find it online for sale. You may find it listed as MAGIC-SCULPT or MAGIC-SCULP, they changed the spelling a couple years ago, and I can't remember which way it is now.

Never used Bondo, but I bet it would be pretty durable.

Yes. The bone pieces only cover the face, but when I add the skin, I will wrap it around the whole head to act as a sort of bald wig.

By the way, Lord Anubis, I just noticed that SPIDERBABE is your avatar. That's kind of cool.

Wow! We wants one! We wants one! Incredible job, can't wait until I see it in it's completed glory. Are you going to keep in bone color or will you paint it yellow? Looks great!

The lower jaw is attached, but moveable.

As you can see now, it's got a sort of rotten yellow look. Since I was doing a more detailed, realistic sculpt, I thought the classic bright yellow would be distracting. This is a dirtier SKELETOR. I coated the gray bones with liquid latex, which has a yellowish tint, and is slightly translucent, so the combination of the two makes for a good, realistic color.

Not sure why they didn't show up, but I just reloaded them, so you should see them now. Let me know if anyone can't see them.
