I've had headaches from Mattel this year, but none of them have anything to do with having the sub. That made life easier. My goodness, I remember how it was when I didn't have the sub 2 years ago! The adrenaline, worrying figures were going to sell out and I'd have to spend 2 times the cost or wait another year for a re-issue to get them...WSOD. I can't go back to life like that if I want all the figures! The chest pains!

If I only wanted a few, well...yeah...I could deal with all that.

In a perfect worls, the shipping company would offer Mattel a discount for them being late, which in turn Mattel could use to eat the cost of sending BGEL out seperatly.
Mattel being the bigger company should take the initiative to remedy any issue on their end, no matter what...any Department store you go to would eat the cost of something if not to the customers liking to an extent, and shipping cost would be something they would gladly eat to make a customer satisfied...it's not like people are asking to have the figure for free..or get an extra figure for nothing..they are saying Mattel should own up, and stop passing the buck to their customers, because one of their employees or vendors screwed up...They should in fact be doing this, as the subbers were promised the figures of 2011 in 2011...January 2012..is no longer 2011...and they in fact should be more ticked than any day of buyers, because they were guaranteed those figures from 2011 in 2011.....

That being said, Mattel should eat the shipping on Demo, at least for the sub buyers..because going into sale day anyone buying day of, knows or should know of the delay, and they weren't promised delivery by a certain time frame. They should send out Evil-Lyn alone. Mattel will never do this, but claim to care about customers, and fans...if they truly cared, they would do whatever it took to make customers happy....Department stores do....Mattel is no different, they are more liable for customer service because they act as their own storefront, as well as through retail stores.

And it does not matter if their shipping company offers a rebate or discount to Mattel...Mattel is big enough to own up to it's own mistakes, to customers they are responsible for their own employees / vendors if something goes wrong, not to have their issues or short comings passed down to the waiting and paying public. That is how a real business should work in the real world, but in this global greed filled corporate world we live in, these companies act as if it's a privilege and a favor they are doing just by making the crap we buy no matter how crappy something is, defects and all....sorry no one is doing a favor for me by taking my money...when is that a favor?

But why would Mattel own up to this and make it right in the eyes of the paying fans?....they have never even made a statement about the Swiftwind issue, even to make it seem as though they care, they have ignored it completely..how is that for customer service, and caring?

No one here wants something for nothing, they just want their promised figures on time, and since that didn't happen they feel they should not have to pay shipping for something they should have had on time....they have Evil-Lyn..she should go out now as promised, and then suck the shipping for the one that should have also been ready to go...Mattel is the company, no matter what vendor or employee screwed up...no one cares about the outside shipping company, The Mattel Company is the face of all their collective workers and outside contractors.

Try this example, of how Mattel is solely responsible for their product...

You can't be a general contractor, and not be responsible for those you hire, even if they are outside companies...the client hired you to do the work, and if your plumber screwed up, you would have to eat any related cost because the client don't care about that plumber, only that YOU didn't deliver what was promised, because YOU alone are the face of your business, not any Plumbing Co. you hired, and YOU would be the one in court...not the Plumber. YOU would have to deal with trying to get compensation from that Plumber without the client having any related expenses passed to them outside of anything actually contracted.

Maybe I'm just going through a phase and will change my mind once we see what's in store for 2013, but at the moment I'm in the mindset of "I don't care if I end up missing some figures and have to pay more on the secondary market."

It's not that I'm losing interest in the figures, far from it, but I think I've grown really disillusioned and somewhat jaded with how Mattel treats the POP toy fans (the lack of responses on some issues that have been asked repeatedly, not taking our input seriously etc.) and this thing with Demo-Man and BG Evil-Lyn was kind of the last straw. This may sound selfish, but I really don't want to reward them with a guaranteed sale. What really got me into this mode was all the money, work and time that I've put into the Star Sisters customs...the hours spent going from Michael's to Jo-Ann Fabrics etc. to find the perfect shade of red, purple yellow etc., only to realize many of them looked like crap in reality and then spending more time trying to mix colors...all so I can have half-way decent looking Star Sisters. The whole time I'm just thinking "I can't believe I'm having to go to these lengths because Mattel didn't care enough to take an interest in our input."

Customizing isn't at all relaxing to me.

I hear you, Tallstar. I find customizing a bit stressful too, which is why all my customs are unfinished. My bedroom is like an action figure graveyard of repaints and "never got put back togethers."

Well...I'm exaggerating a bit, but I have some! I think 6 figures, just laying there....for YEARS! I made an 80's Green Goddess before the MOTUC one was even announced! Still unfinished (her face paint chipped a bit and I got too depressed and gave up because I put a lot of time and effort repainting her and her wonky eyes too...so tricky).

I wouldn't count on that. It only took one year of me not having the sub to make me want to never experience that madness again. Even with the various problems and issues, the sub has been way better for me than non-sub was.

I still don't have a sub, and am completely happy not having one, having no issues getting what figures I want, and have outside sources to get what few I still will want. I don't have to depend on Matty to get my figures...and not all I get are much more than Matty with shipping anyway. Even the ones so far I had gotten from Matty weren't a hassle to get...I know it will be harder in '12, but I will still get mine without a sub.

But for you I am glad you haven't had any issues with a sub.

I'm going to buy the Wind Raider, assuming it doesn't sell out before I get a chance. The only reason why I want Demo-Man is because he goes with Vikor, who I have. But since I want something to arrive in the mail this month I will just get the Wind Raider. I'm not even going to get Demo-Man because I don't feel I should have to buy him separately just to make sure I get the Wind Raider in December. It's a matter of principle.

I think us Cherry pickers should boycott Demo-Man. Let's not even get him, that'll show Matty. Don't mind me, i'm just venting and I usually sound like a vindictive, childlike jackass when I'm angry.

I actually am....but not for that reason...after seeing the Neon Knight reviewed...I just don't want him anymore, not even for the head..which apparently is neon as well...too much green for Skeletor.

But for you I am glad you haven't had any issues with a sub.
If you have access to a computer during sale time, there's no need for a sub other than convinience and the exclusive.

You also don't need it if you aren't that big of fan.

I am that big of a fan and during 2010 I had access to a computer during sale times and still missed out on Evil Lyn and Moss Man.

So the sub is for me, but not for everyone. However if you're avoiding a sub to stick it to Scott, but still buy everything anyway, that's a bit silly.

I only buy what I want, therefore I don't want a sub or need one...out of all the revealed 2012 figures I only want 6 so far..and to pay a little extra for certain ones is worth it to me more than buying 20 figures I don't want and being unable to get my money back. I only want mostly the vintage figures I had as a kid, and whatever else I like along the way...I am a big fan, but of mostly MOTU....POP is growing on me (mostly because I never watched the show, and the toys were mostly dolls) I do like the new POP figures, I bought BP She-Ra & Swiftwind, now I also have Adora...and wanting a few other of the girls, I do like the new figures over the girly dolls of days gone by, but NA & 2002 not really, can't get into them...Na is too syfy-ish for He-Man, and 2002 I can't get past the lines Figures and animation....

I do plan on furthering my POP with Horde Prime & Shadow Weaver..so I am a fan of MOTU, always have been....just my corner of it's universe. So I am not buying a sub on principle, as well as not wanting every last figure they produce. So far I have all I want of what's out...except Panthor...but I can get him...and possibly, still debating on Stratos & Zodac, as well as She-Ra 1.0..but none of those 3 are necessities. All I originally wanted was the 20 figures or so I had as a kid, but now I like so many more, but still nowhere near enough for a sub.

Yeah, I meant moreso as a buyer who would buy everything regardless (which Tallstar seems to be, too), the sub has worked out for me more than not having one. I definitely do not miss the crazy sell-out times and wondering if I'll get "x" figure within the 3 minutes of it going on sale.

I know this year has been a lot better, but I suspect next year will be a harsh reality check for non-subbers.

Which is why I have other options to get the ones I want...I will try day of to get what I want because they may be a little cheaper, probably buy $5 or $6...but if I can't get passed that screen...I won't worry, I can still get mine, I do hope for others it's still not that bad, maybe down to hours instead of the days it has been, but not back to the minutes it used to be....I do have every figure I want secured though April.

The real problem is Mattle not handling problems correctly; stop blaming fans, ignoring qc issues, trying to distract fans with "news" when ever problems arise or attempt to be funny when a heart felt "we *** up" is more appropriate.
Matty needs to do pre-orders !!

    # 1- There are those of us that like the version of the Star Sisters that is being produced.

    # 2 - Mattel didn't make any money off of the Sisters that you're laboring over, so I fail to see your point.

OK, so to be clear... the $100 authorization will drop off for both Battleground Evil-lyn and Demo-man (because they only charge when shipped and on isn't shipping without the other)

    so far so good?

Instead sometime in early January We will get the actual charge AT THAT time and get the figures shipped then?

    okay...

So, January means expect $100 charge early in the month followed later by the Socrceress... $40 The Star Sisters..... $120 and Photog.... $40/$50 (still confused about anniversary figure pricing) and shipping?

So, about $300+ in January, and February is only Fisto $40?

Matty delayed the Windraider because they said they wanted to "help with the cost" on November but wow! January is going to be the heaviest month yet. Would anyone be upset if they delayed the Star Sisters to February to "help with the cost" ?

It might actually make some kind of sense putting the girls out as kind of a Valentine'd day thing.... because January OUCH!

*OH, BTW I'm rounding my numbers based on having two subscriptions

It looks that way, though is in no way clear from the website.

I ordered BGEL & WR seperately, just to make sure DM doesn't hold up shipping.

So I'm paying S&H twice but... I'm impatient.

    My charge dropped too.

I can't believe that this far into the line that there hasn't already been a delayed figure. Delays happen all the time in manufacturing. It could be a QC, manufacturing, shipping, or supply problem that causes the delay.

As long as the figure is fine, the wait really isn't a problem. I just wish Mattel could have warned us a bit earlier.
